  1. Will it be required to be on something to make the most of your experience at the new Aloha Stadium once they get the new turf in? I can see it now acid and shrooms made available at the concession stands!
  2. I was really looking forward to some of the match ups between the B1G and the PAC 12, but oh well. In the article I read it stated that they conf would be reopen the possibility of a 9 game conf schedule OR look into setting up an agreement with another conference. I would highly doubt the SEC or the Big XII would be interested but the ACC might. We will see what ends up happening!
  3. No me gusta!!!! That hurts my eyes to look at it on the computer screen let alone actually watch a football game there. I am ok with the striping like Oregon and Nebraska has slight differences in the green to make it look like it is mowed differently but that is crazy. I have never liked the blue turf at Boise, or even the red turf at eastern Washington. It is a gimmick and I don't think we need to do things like that here. If you want to put some color in the endzones or something I am ok with that even but grass or grass looking playing field is was I prefer!
  4. I realize that. I am just wondering if it could be done on campus at all let alone ours. They could possibly morph the Big Red Weekend into something like this or however it would work out. It never hurts to get more exposure nationally and entice the top players around the country to make it out to DONU even if it is just for a camp!
  5. We are centrally located, have good facilities, are football crazy. Why the heck not!
  6. These events are becoming more and more popular. These kids perform at camps around the country and then are recognized and invited to showcases of talent that are sponsored by Nike or what ever. "The Opening" is going on now in Oregon at the Nike Headquarters. I know we don't have the Adidas headquarters here or anything but we do have top notch facilities so why couldn't we do something like that here? If we could get some major sponsors to get on board to really get this thing rolling. Why not make it a huge deal. Get great coaches and experts to come in and teach these kids everything from film watching to weight lifting to nutrition etc. I am not sure the legality of hosting something like this on campus but maybe this is something the Big Red Weekend could morph into. Get top players in town for this event and not only do they learn but it gets them out to see what we are all about. It has been said many times that once they get here things change. It could be a showcase of our facilities, the state etc. Heck if there is good enough talent at it, if you were to have open competitions within the construct of the camp, as important football is to us around here I would think you could charge admission to some of the tests. I may drop a few bucks to got watch some of the best high school talent in the country run 7 on 7's or compete in other events etc. What do you say Husker Nation? Is it possible? If so how would you like to see it done?
  7. I just don't understand why people concentrate on other fans in the stadium. When I go to a Husker game I am worried about the game and that is what I am focused on and that alone. Unless there are some horrible fans making it impossible for me to ignore them would be the only time I would worry about the other fans around me. I direct my comments, cheers and jeers toward the field and the competition being played in front of me. I don't want to be distracted by having to deal with others around me. Keep it toward the field, who cares what everyone else is saying. I know it is not possible to ignore some of the issues being discussed but if everyone just payed attention to the game this wouldn't be an issue.
  8. Me likey. I have never truly understood the bowl match ups. I do understand the conference tie ins etc. I always thought that at the very least the top games if not all of them should take more time to create better match ups. With the 36 bowls out there and so many of them were borderline unwatchable. Why not do something like have an agreement with conferences to allow for a certain number of teams from each conference to be put in bowls automatically (much like the tie ins now) but not lock them into specific bowls with a horrible match up. I want to see traditional powers against new up and comers. I want to see great defenses strategically matched up against high powered offenses. Maybe I am in the minority here but this aspect is where I feel the committee will be a great benefit as they can really create awesome match ups that will in turn be great for fans as well as for the tv networks. Lets be honest in the end it is the tv networks that really have the power because they have the money!
  9. So far I have found tickets on the secondary market but they seem pretty high ($125 +). Maybe the smaller venue is driving the price up. Either that or it is just early and if they don't sell the price will go down. We will see. At worst we will spend the weekend in Chicago and spend the money on food and drinks. $125 per seat will go quite a ways in food and drinks!
  10. Just got the notification from the University that I will not be getting Tickets through them for the away game in Evanston. Sad Panda! I think a few friends of mine and I will head up there regardless in hopes of going to the game. Who all is gonna try to make it to this game? Have you gotten tickets yet? If so where did you get them and how much are they going for? I hope there will be a very large Husker contingent going to the game. It would be nice to have another home game just not at home. There is not question we owe them a serious stomping after last year. We have no one to blame but ourselves. GBR!
  11. I may get killed for saying this but his running style reminds me a bit of Tebow. Looks like he is physical type kid. I like that.
  12. We haven't had as much luck recently with the dual sport guys but this guy certainly has the pedigree. It never hurts to get guys in with famous parents. We could use all the exposure we can get for both football and baseball. I can see it now..... Panning around Memorial Stadium on a crisp fall football Saturday and having Erstad and Torii Sr sitting next to each other in the stands watching the game. Ok I am getting ahead of myself but a guy can dream right?????
  13. 95 days to go. The only way to get your football fix this time of year is to follow recruiting and keep an eye open for the college football preview magazines that will be in shelves soon. I find they are usually good for scratching that itch for a little bit and at very least make for great bathroom reading material!
  14. I will be at the Wisconsin, MIchigan and the Penn St game. Possibly the Southern Miss game. I am looking for tickets to get to the Northwestern game in Chicago but don't want to pay $100 a seat for them, as if it is that expensive I will just watch it on tv and use the money for beer (that is a lot of beer). I would love to go to more games but with a newborn it is much tougher to make it.
  15. Preseason rankings in magazines like this are interesting to talk about. I always anxiously await these college football magazines to drop in the summer as well. As for the actual AP and coaches preseason ranking I personally feel they are a complete waste of time. I think they should at least wait until conference season before the first poll comes out.
  16. In a way I am glad because this up and down playing really well one week and then following that up by playing like a little league team the next is killing me. Hope the team goes off to play in the summer leagues and improves dramatically. Sick Sylva on the pitching staff to steady that ship and lets get them next year guys!
  17. Come on Chad how about a homer to make up for the 2 errors!
  18. Not looking good. I am only watching the gamecast online so I have not seen any of the game but it sure seems like an uninspiring performance by the Huskers today. It was an almost impossible route to get to Saturday after losing in round 1 but I was hoping for a better performance than 3 errors etc today!
  19. We have had our chances. We really need to start cashing them in and getting some runs. Lets get a crooked number this inning guys. Starting it off with a walk is a good place to start!
  20. I am sorry I got a little defensive there. Anytime someone even hints at comparing my views to Texas, the University of Texas or anything having to do with what they stand for in any way it happens it is just a reflex reaction. Please accept my apology Bucky!
  21. We really need to focus and eliminate these errors. IF we are going to win a string of games booting the ball around the yard and giving teams extra outs is not a way to do it!
  22. I honestly don't care where it is. I am not saying put it in Omaha at all. I will say that if it was here I would go if the ticket prices were reasonable even if Nebraska was not playing. I am saying put it where people will go to it. From the looks of the crowds so far for any team other than OSU it may as well be played in the middle of a cornfield in central Wisconsin because there are more birds watching it than people. Why put it in a venue that holds 13,000 people when only 100 show up. Why put it in a Community that gets no attention? Why would any city want to bid to host it if no one show up? No wonder B1G baseball is an after thought. Why do you care Bucky you don't have a dog in the hunt anyways? If Badger fans will go watch it I say put it in the stadium the Mallards play in and get after it!
  23. If I am not mistaken Columbus is closer to the middle of B1G country and no one is attending now. Why not find a place where people will support it and actually go to the games no matter who is playing and leave it there. Is there a pocket of college baseball fans in the B1G footprint? If so put it there and leave it. Gotta find a way to get more exposure and a greater following for B1G baseball. The conf has a great asset in the BTN lets use it and grow the sport.
  24. good. i like our chances against both of them. we finally got the bats going, hopefully vogt has a good game tomorrow morning. It worries me that osu played purdue tough, and we have already won the series against them, we can't have a let down! and if we do win the morning game, i have no idea who i would want on the mound against hard hitting MSU, that game is dangerous Is Vogt starting today? I thought Spitsnogle was taking the mound for the first game.
