  1. ESPN has Neb at 17. Wonder if that's the long snapper.
  2. The second coach NEEDS some serious psychiatric treatment. The first one doesn't.
  3. I think that is the reason that we have a new coach...there is no way that the Badgers should have did what they did to NU this year. RIGHT on bud!! I wish I could articulate the formula. I could probably retire (again) were that possible. It probably has to do with not raging at players after a mistake or calling his father during a game, designing the system and play-calling to accommodate the skills of the players, seeing the world is something other than black and white, and on and on. If we COULD get the formula down, we'd could sell it to universities and corporations alike if we could keep it a secret. (This thought process is not going to end well.) LOL.
  4. Chills down my spine if it is true that the Badgers were average all year, considering what they did to Nebraska. If that is true the program has a LONG way to go to respectability.
  5. EXCELLENT question. My thought would be the reason is the very same that allowed Sanchez to do quite will for the Eagles after doing very poorly for the Jets. There are many, many other examples of the very same phenomenon..
  6. Exactly. But to protect a legacy of division, us-against-them, paranoia to the point the farewell meeting has to be off-campus, raging at officials, players, fans, and the administration? I don't get the thought process. This may need a separate thread. Don't want to be a hi-jacker.
  7. I'm astounded that TO would countenance, let alone support BP and his raging, almost paranoid, behavior against fans, officials, players and the administration, in addition to anyone else who disagreed with him.
  8. I'd rather see one or even two more losses a year if we can eliminiate the raging at officials, players, administration and fans and anyone who disagrees with the HC. This old world does not need more rage.
  9. Bill Byrne says we got a steal. I respect his opinion.
  10. From some brief reading players and recruits that were quoted are crying pretty hard.
  11. Seems probable that Bo's explanation of the reason for his termination to the players (read "blame") was squarely at the door of the administration. My guess is that he, in his black or white mentality, felt handicapped and even betrayed by the AD and administration of the university. Those above him couldn't be totally "for" him because some of his behaviors were offensive, dysfunctional and negative. Because they were not 100 per cent for him, in his mind, they were against him. Another description is that athletic department folks were between a rock and a hard place. It might have been an occasion for a mediator to negotiate an agreement but that's pretty difficult when one or both parties see the world in black and white. I wonder if either party said, "How can we fix this?" Probably not, resulting in the expenditure of a tremendous amount of money along with the anguish, uncertainty, probably loss of players Looking back, it was probably not apparent that the "black or white" mentality might be a problem. Hiring a head coach might have allowed that discovery. There are, BTW, a LOT of illustrations of the difficulty for folks who go from assistant to head coach.
  12. Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Texas, Tennessee, maybe Colorado, Michigan, and a couple more show it's TOUGH to remain at the upper levels of football rankings over time.
  13. Having posted that it is interesting that there are indications both Charlie and his successor OC for the Patriots had "difficulties" in their relationships with others. Charlie boasted that he yells at others when he didn't get what he wants and Josh McDaniel got crosswise with the no one quarterback for the Broncos before he settled into the job.
  14. No surprise that Charlie has another ex employer. It certainly took the AD long enough to discover the error of his hire. The LONG, LONG list of school football programs in the cellar is interesting.
  15. Just a little fuel to the fire. The article says that someone at Nebraska asked if Mac would be interested in the HC job in Lincoln. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source--mack-brown-forced-out-as-texas-coach-after-president-withdrew-support-005700558.html So there are guys here who do what the Texan did when he asked if Saban would go to Texas when the job was filled. Ye Gods, folks!!
  16. Does anyone know at what point in the game did the coaches ask the defensive players what scheme they wanted to run? It appears that something happened to drastically improve the defense. Was that "something" getting input from the players? It is an intriguing question for a couple of reasons. One of those is that nagging feeling that we've got better quality defensive players than is reflected in the scoring against us this and past seasons. Another is the knowledge that using "our" plans or scheme generally give better results than playing with "your" scheme. I remember that Dr. T had a staff psychologist and wonder how much that contributed to his success.
  17. Remember the type of teams Illinois has played before.
  18. Wonder how upset the coaches are that this is floating around?
  19. McCluhan wasn't too bad. Blazing speed.
  20. Was it Matt Slauson who thought highly of BC as OL coach?

    Miles

Yeah, they say 24 but with Miles the count is 25.

    Miles

Huskermax lists Antoine Miles as N but neither Scout nor Rivals do. What is the skinny?
