  1. I can not think of another athletic program that has fallen farther, and faster than CU. National Champs in 1991 to being unable to be competitive, unable to upgrade facilities, unable to raise enough money to fire a coach. This is why they are irrevelant.
  2. I am old enough to rember two tough losses to Penn St in Lincoln and a low scoring game in Iowa City in the 1981 season. After which Turner Gill became QB and did OK.

  4. I found the topic of recruiting violations interesting. In the article it was stated Tressel committed no recruiting violations, and therefore should not receive any scholarship reductions. The last big NCAA beat down I remember was USC and the Reggie Bush deal. I don't rember any recruiting violations involving Reggie Bush. I think the NCAA is going the bring the hammer to OSU. Good article, thanks for sharing.
  5. Why would UNL need to add 2 women's sports? Wouldn't men's hockey and women's hockey level out title 9? How do the Stars do for attendance? Seems to me all this needs is a big donor who wants NU hockey.
  6. This is another problem the NCAA will continue to battle to preserve the idea of the "student-athlete" which is a flawed concept when this much money is available. The battle continues.
  7. To respond to Fro, S Utah and Centinal are leaving the Summit. That dosen't really affect the travel issue, but just being factual. I still like this move. This is a DI sports offering that is consistent with other metro universities. UW-Milwaukee, Detroit, and the Horizon League, many schools in the Summit.
  8. If the interest was there at UNO for football and wrestling the donor money would be there also. I had no idea UNO had a 3 time national championship wrestling team, and I don't care. If the donors were there for football, UNO would have found a home for a FCS program a long time ago. The support, the money isn't there. I feel bad for the kids and coaches, but I think they'll be OK. I am excited about UNO in the Summit playing DI basketball and baseball.
  9. I agree, this sucks. It just all comes down to money. Dumping 2 successfull, but unprofitable programs with the hope that DI basketball and or baseball could someday be profitable. Hard decisions.
  10. Under, by far. If they get probation it won't be more than USC's two years. I think this situation is looking far worse than USC's.
  11. I will put the over/under at 5 years probation.
  12. Damn does OSU look dirty as a pig in the mud. Tressel looks completely untrust worthy, he's a snake. Minor violations going back to his hire are above all in college football. How does this effect OSU's football team? WIll the recruits continue to line up to go to OSU? Is the foundation crumbling? I hate the question "Isn't this going to hurt recruiting?". Bottom line is I thought Tressel was a man of character and integrity giving some talanted athletes a chance. Now he just looks like some slimey worm covering things up so his football team can succeed.
  13. The Big12 is ranked third in conference RPI. That means the 6th team in the conference will be on the bubble. NU, CU, and Baylor have not been good but I wouldn't be suprised if one of them get in.
  14. Just when I thought I was out you pull me back in.
  15. I can't argue with the short comings of Martinez. I agree with everything stated. I also think the guy deserves credit for gutting it out in the second half of the season. He was hurt and answered the bell to play every time he was called upon. I would think his teammates would respect that.
  16. I really don't think so. It's not like a 19 year old will become out of shape quickly. Spring ball would have really helped Heard out. Hopefully he can take part in the summer conditioning.
  17. Now is the strech, double post. Hope it works.
  18. Time to bust out with the double post. McCray hits some 3's. All good.
  19. I think he matches up real good. I figured Texas' more athletic quicker bigs would give him fits and he played awesomely. KSU's bigs are more physical, so we should see some good banging when Andre is in the game. Let's hope they let the big guys bang and not turn this into a two hand touch game. Does KSU have a big stiff from Linclon, NE named Hill?
