  1. OK fro, this is only my opinion. The thing that seperates NU from MU is TV ratings. They are not far apart on the field or in the class room and I agree with the points you bring up. When NU is on TV they get good ratings, better than most anyone. That makes NU worth more than MU. Not better, just worth more.
  2. carter and peat are both big-time targets. carter looks like he could make an immediate impact next season and peat is both a high quality prospect and a foothold for a second high quality prospect in the form of his brother. we also just got an important commitment from abdullah, a kid that was recruited by some big time schools that provides us with an additional (and much needed) offensive weapon. we also have a chance with lake (at a position of need), a couple of decent LB's, a much needed kicker and a few others. seems to me that there's plenty to be excited about. and if that isn't enough to get your dauber up, go back and look at the kids that are already on board, like, say, the two most exciting and explosive offensive talents in texas. As I said in my original post, I am very excited about the guys we've already got. it just seems that we're in on a few guys that could be difference makers at this point in the cycle, none more. Then again we're only looking to take 3-4 more, so fingers crossed for a couple big scores here at the end! GBR! The end of this recruiting class is less exciting because the staff already has put together a great class. At this point 3-4 scholarships to give out with only one need at TE. Just simply not enough room to look at adding too many kids. There's no Owa among the last few NU is in on, but there are quality prospects.
  3. On the part of ESPN this seems like a absolutely stupid waste of money. For 300 million they get the broadcast rights to 2 football games and about 12 basketball games. Other than that it is cultural, history, discovery channel according to Powers. Sounds like BYU channel, you ever try watching that, its terrible. The only way this makes any sense for ESPN is if Texas already has a plan to go independent. Then as everyone goes to a 9 game conference schedule UT has a ND schedule where they're getting beat by Navy every year.
  4. In an attempt to shift this thread from a debate on Taylor Martinez, I hate the way the O-line changes their splits. I don't like the wide splits specifically. I know there was success this year with the wide splits, but it could be changing the splits of the O-line contributed to their struggles. I just think the tighter splits fit the personel of NU's O-line better, and will fit the kid's we have recruited better. A lot of bigger, stronger O-lineman versus a lot of smaller, quicker O-lineman.
  5. It's the NCAA that is the hold up, if Braylon goes juco he'd miss 2 years. So if it is the NCAA that is the hold up has Braylon Heard committed to being on campus this summer? I don't think Braylon on campus this summer is set in stone. I know many on the board have speculated this, but I don't know that it is confirmed.
  6. Be just like following NU to a Big12 road game. I paid $90 at ISU, face value.
  7. I like depth at RB. No doubt we are thin there. Recruiting misses on Jones, Ward, and Okafor hurt. In 2012 Rex is SR, Green and Heard? SOPH, and Oku a JR. Be a no brainer if he could play in 2011. Oku was recruited by Kiffin, then didn't get along with Dooley. Not that unusual. I'm on board.
  8. Todd Peat talks about playing time a lot. His list is interesting. ASU, Stanfod, and Oregon St all can offer playing time. I dont really know how Colorado came into this late, but PT. NU is only on this list because Todd Peat is impressed with the coaches and atmosphere. Come on Todd Peat, NU can make you better.
  9. I like this kid's size. Hope we can land him.
  10. guess that's how it goes when you lose 3 out of 4 to close out the season including laying a big egg in the bowl game
  11. Bummer for Braylon. It's gotta suck for him, kinda feeling like he's spinning his wheels. Would it be better for the kid to go JUCO?
  12. now planning a visit to Miami
  13. I see a need at RB, 1 or 2 without Heard, and a TE. I still think Bryant will come around at TE. No info just guessing. After that NU will take any quality prospects, deffinetly Peat or Virgile.
  14. Looking to visit Baylor, Kansas, and Arkansas. I really like this kid, but it seems NU has cooled on him.
  15. Come on Razzin. BSU had about 3 games on ESPN this year VATech, OregonSt, and Nevada started at about 10 eastern. Maybe 1 or 2 more were on ESPN late starts or Thursday night. NU had UW, TX, OSU, Mizz, ISU, and Colorado on ABC regionally TAM and OU on ABC nationally Sat prime time and KSU on Thursday night. Simply stating BSU is on TV less than NU.
  16. I will admit panic at the RB spot, I believe Braylon Heard has caused me hair loss.
  17. I want to see accountability. If you are consistently causing penalties or putting the ball on the ground you're on the bench. I believe there is depth at just about all positions. Next man up. You earn playing time.
  18. Will there be any changes to the coaching staff? I really don't know what to think. The only thing I am sure of is that it is becoming annoying to see Watson express interest in any coaching job that comes open only to see him welcomed back to NU because of Bo's loyalty.
  19. I think it seems like a good idea to carry over two or three spots if we can't find the guys we want. It isn't panic time yet, there is always some strange things that happen about 2 weeks before signing day. There's still time for a few recruits to emerge.
  20. I think it would be great to have Frost as WR coach. He is a great recruiter, coached in a great offense that NU seems to emulate. It would be a stupid move for Frost. A move from WR coach in a great offense to a WR coach in a average offense. I dont think he is ready to be OC yet. The best move for Frost is no move, stay at Oregon and an OC position will open up.
  21. Couldn't agree with you more Paul. Nobody can blame a kid for choosing a Stanford education. Maybe some day with the Big10 move NU can compete with the likes of Michigan or UCLA, but not Stanford. He wasn't loose or disrespectful with any of his comments throughout the process. I have become a fan of Wayne Lyons.
  22. committed to Idaho. Idaho, really Idaho.
  23. No news from Heard or the coaches on spring enrollment. Classes start Monday and I am nervous again. Does a student have 2 weeks after classes begin to still enroll? I'm not sure, just remember Diaz the basketball player.
  24. No doubt he'd get drafted. When can be debated. I'd guess 3rd or 4th round.
