  1. This was his best option actually. He really wants to play QB and Frank is giving him that chance. He was gonna be a DB at NU, and even he knew that. Was really hoping to see Darius on campus practicing......on the hardwood with Doc. The kid is a hell of a baller.
  2. For Corncraze My link Thanks for the heads up Stafford
  3. Thanks to Damien Stafford this might have been the worst kept secret the last two weeks or so.
  4. Exactly. I still think the Hobbi to USC will play large in NU's favor
  5. Bingo. Atta boy skerchicago, putting it in simple English for the people. The next three years is when USC will start to feel the handcuffs of the penalty
  6. I may be feeling the same vibe brotha. The Hobbi decision to bail to USC I think adds to NU's odds of landing him. Add in the fact that Bo is in home tonight only makes the felling stronger. The only thing that could top it is if Erickson or the ASU staff sneaks in tomorrow, because after that it quiet(30th) and the dead(31-3) periods. The final talks may close this deal. The only way Peat could shock me is if he Darian Bryant's the decision and chooses OSU from way out of left field. Don't see it happening at all, but who knows. I am with you though, 60-40 NU Nebula-thanks for the the props. The best thing you can do here is not be afraid to ask questions and speak up when ya got a tip, hint, feeling, gas, whatever.
  7. He had a decent year. It is more the fact that he is not near the athletic specimen that Kyler was coming out of high school. If NU was in dire needs for a safety I could have seen a late push at Dagan, but alas the need wasn't great. He will end up somewhere, and who knows maybe he will blow up, but he just didn't fit the specific needs that Bo and the staff are looking for to fill out the class.
  8. Hmmmm.............may he live long and prosper in the land where hopes and dreams die everyday.
  9. No doubt, swing and a miss on my part, was hearing an awful lot about Michey and the Vols. Oh well as you said aspeedlin, this is recruiting. It'll be interesting to see where he ends up in two years, because I am feeling pretty good about that bit of info.
  10. Ditto, when the hell did Vandy join the party. This is just the wierdest final two I think I have ever seen. Well except maybe Nebraska and Samford.
  11. I think what EZ and I are both saying when it comes to the recruits that he is involved in is that the ball was more or less put on a tee for him. Rivals ask who is recruiting said kid and they post it. Like I had said when a recruit gets really interested or is a an early commit his future position coach becomes a lead. HOWEVER, if you had followed these guys for the last two years you'd see that their first primary recruiter was NOT Barney. Like EZ and I said someone else logged the dirty work. So of course it is going to look like Barney is involved with a lot of recruits when you bring in 5 OL and have a small class. One last antedot to bring to the table. I have a friend that worked in the ISU football department when Barney was there. I have heard many a stories about him. One of the things that struck me funny was when I was told his area was Iowa/Nebraska because either he was a lazy recruiter or just that bad of a recruiter and Coach Mac didn't want him out on the road. This was debated among many in that athletic department. We are going to just end up running circles around each other on this issue. We'll agree to disagree. I will be the first to chow on crow IF this guy would do something amazing, but until then "pushing" around REAL bad teams early and then fading down the stretch and getting owned up front against some really POOR teams(SDSU, KU) does not show me huge strides of improvement.
  12. Tyler Moore, Ryne Reeves, and Sterup were all going to come here anyways. I don't know how much you can really attribute that to Barney. After that, the other two were swayed by Moore and Reeves. says who? nebraska has lost out on local kids in the past (and moore isn't truly even local). considering the big hitters that were after these three, i think it's pretty silly to assume that all NU had to do was open the door for them. Had he gotten Westerman I would have been impressed, but Tyler Moore was not overly hard to sway this way. Legacy recruit. Agreed or even Hobbi, but again Ron Brown started as the lead recruiter there
  13. Actually in interviews Reeves and Moore both had said that it was pretty much always gonna be NU. And I would hope Barney would do well with the instate kids because that is his primary recruiting area. Nebraska. Beck was Moore's primary recruiter. The one who started the whole process with Tyler since Day 1. Watson and Marvin Sanders were actually the main guys on Klachko. Of course once serious interest or a commitment is made the recruits position coach is gonna get involved. And of coures Ekler got NU Price. Needless to say Barney did not have to do a lot with this OLine class. Now as mmmtodd pointed out he gets to try to outdo himself and actually get them to improve
  14. cheeheee...... sounds good.. dont want to get too cocky but looks like we might be out of that nasty hog sh#t woods finally Nope... You won't be until he signs on the dotted line. Or whenever you decide to crawl back home. It was fun, maybe by Tuesday you can hit 20 posts and turn back into the lemur Pig SUUUUUUUUUUUEY fans will be now as you slip back to midpack obscurity in the SEC
  15. Give him a break he is probably all jacked up since a lot of Pig SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEY fans think they will get Mickey tomorrow. Well, Mickey probably would be able to get into Arkansas with their stingent academic standards and golf standard moralities. Again the kid will look like the Great Pumpkin when he is wearing Vol orange. By the way he posted on C Jackson's thread like 5 minutes ago.
  16. EZ, long time, good to see back around these parts. Anyways, I agree with everything. My take as far as the assistants is like this. JP and Beck-Give them a raise and get out of their way. They are the head of the class and close most any deal. I think Beck will get even better when we start hitting his old stomping ground in Ohio next year even harder, Sanders, is good like you said. He goes into a very difficult area to recruit alot of kids, the Chicago area. Most of those kids are bred Domers, Illini, or Michigan schools. I think as NU continues to pump out killer secondaries his reputation and success recruiting will only increase. Carl recruits Cali I know, but that is about the only time you hear about him other than when he goes in home with Bo or other defensive staffers to try to close. I thinkwe will hear more about him as NU scours Ohio, a situation made easier next year by the Big X move. Gilmore may coordinate the whole deal, but what has he really got NU? Also I feel that the slow down in the end of this cycle was due to really a poor inseason(being official visits) recruiting. Again he should be held accountable for this partially. He talks with big words but the response sucks. Barney, enough said. He basically recruits Nebraska. I am not a fan of his as is. I think he could do more. The only thing he really has contributed to Nu recruiting is his seed. LB coach agreed. I won't put Els, whoops did that come out, on the JP/Beck platform, but a gard worker. Agree also on Kiffin, and boy he didn't hurt himself by bringing Orgeron on board with him.
  17. Paging Mr. Dobson......paging Mr. James Dobson. Looks like the two should become real close this next fall. Found this little blurb very interesting. "Now 218 pounds, Pirman is expected to be up to 235 when he reports to Lincoln on June 9. "They want to be up to 250, 255 by the end of my freshman year," Pirman said, adding that coaches have told him he'll be a rush end on defense or a tight end on offense." Linky to article
  18. yo segundo for all of our Spanish speaking followers
  19. The greatest soap opera of the recruiting year will temporarily end tomorrow as Mickey Johnson is set to announce. Apparently he is set to decide on which college will sign and place him into a JUCO. The "finalist", wait are you sure Mickey, ok, the "finalist" are LSU, Tennessee, and Pig Suuuuuuuuuuuuuey. Banking on a him picking the orange cap.
  20. 60% of the time, it works every time. 74% of statistics are made up on the spot. 123% stats are exaggerated But it's 80% mental and the other half is physical
  21. He really has put it on lockdown as of late. I think he ends up a Mountaineer. He hasn't said a thing since his 17 hour commitment.
  22. All you need is a good salt water aquarium guy and a magic 8 Ball. Get 'em and your set.
  23. Oh I know the concerns. But why do we need multiple threads saying the same exact things? I mean Crewe posted the same exact long post in two of them. Necessary? I don't think so. We got it the first time. It was about as necessary as the endless amount of the sky is falling on recruiting. Why did I also post it on this thread? Probably because this thread was getting more traffic and replies that concur with major problems in recruiting. I moved it here to share my opposing view to more readers in an effort of not having to see more of these threads. Sorry I wasted your precious time, the scroll feature is amazing these days. Hell one post in two different threads trying to illustrate a point beats 6 threads about people pissing their pants.
  24. probably around 15-20 15 is usually around the number of preferred walkons they will take. Then there is usually 10-20 more walk ons that join the program later in the school year.
  25. lionsfan93, it is in the main recruiting forum below the lists of the certain classes by year. The guys have been good at updating as players say they are walking on. The list is pushing double digits already. A lot of instate linemen. Thanks...I'm pretty excited about Slaughter. With a name like that he has a lot of potential. No prob. Slaughter isn't an official walk on yet. He is hoping for an NU offer, and has no others. If a D1 offer would come from anybody I think he takes it. If no offers come he will be a Husker walkon. And yes he has a great football name and his fild doesn't look that shabby either.
