If it ain't at home or the Wisky game why not

  2. Time to start the 2011 preferred walkon thread because we have one to talk about. Aaron Hayes from Elkhorn. He's 6'4, 265 plays offensive guard. Still a little weak for his size bench 285 and squats 385. Nothing a redshirt year and some time with Mr Dobson can't fix. Welcome to the program, Aaron The Walk On in state pipeline begins Other confirmed Walkons Aurora QB Tyson Broekemeier 6'1 180 Elmwood-Murdock WR Sam Burtch 6'3 180 Plano, TX Murat Kuzuz ATH 5'11 190 West Point OLB Anthony Ridder 6'2 195 Creighton Prep RB Richard Wynne 5'8 175 Wood River DE Jack Gangwish 6'3 230 Litchfield OL Adam Kucera 6'6 285 Ainsworth DL Nathaniel Allen 6' 270 Blair OL Chris Long 6'4 265 Lincoln SE LB Broderick Boehm 5'11 205 ELkhorn OL Aaron Hayes 6'4 265 Wahoo ATH Greg Milliken 6'1 195 Lincoln NE OL Will Sailors 6'4 245 Pelham, AL OLB Derek Slaughter 5'11 200
  3. Callahan isnt a bad position coach. He has coached up Slauson pretty good for the Jets. Exactly and he is often sought out by other coaches when it comes to run/pass block schemes. Like I had said he knows his stuff. On my team it is all he would do, well that and maybe public relations because we will be doing well in aspects of all areas but it would be too technical for any of you to understand you effing hillbillys
  4. This is a huge understatement. Tech had four starters returning from last years team, and has done nothing but play inconsistantly and poorly. Pat Knight has said multiple times that he is baffled and now has to find himself on the hot seat. Mike Singletary is a hell of a player, he could challenge the Huskers today. They continue to play team defense and know where Singletary and the other shooters are they should come out on top. The bigs especially you DIAZ, should play large today. Rob Lewandowski is a decent 6-11 big guy(think a little taller Brandon Ubel) but Diaz and Almieda should have their way. Honestly the biggest thing NU has to overcome is playing a game in a morgue like atmosphere. I think this game is closer than a lot of fans think.
  5. 2nd But does kchuskerchris' avatar count as two nominations, cause it would look really odd as one
  6. i think we have more room than that if we need/want it. we definitely need a good kicker. I heard a rumor with transfers forthcoming and medical hardships we'll be at like 81 or 82 schollie players so we could take up to 25 if the right people come along. But if not we'll spread those 3 or 4 left over places to walk ons. i haven't crunched the numbers in a while, but i'm pretty sure we could accommodate up to 23 or so if the right ones want in. otherwise, i agree that the last few would and should be saved for deserving walk-ons. Personally I would put the extras towards next years class, talk about a small number
  7. please tell these are sarcastic or that they are clever jokes I stand by my claim that I had no prior acknowledgemnt that my parents were involved in a post for pay scheme with HuskerBoard. And it is all BS except the fact that Westerman is not from Texas and is now going to Auburn
  8. Well this is my team and I am the head coach. Offensive Scheme: Pro Style Offensive Coordinator: Norm Chow, USC Offenssive Line: I am sorry for this but he knows his $hit at the position, Bill Callahan Quarterbacks: Bobby Petrino, guy produces great QB's Running Backs: Eddie Gran, now at FSU, but has coached Duece Mcallister,John Avery(Ole Miss), Ronnie Brown, Cadillac Williams, Brandon Jacobs, Kenny Irons, Rudi Johnson, Ben Tate(Auburn), and Mario Hardesty(Vol stud) WR/TE's: Lane Kiffin, guy is a douche but a hell of an offensive mind and coached some good WRs, oh yeah a recruiter Defensive Scheme: 4-3 Defensive Coordinator: Pete Carrol, USC and the Seahawks and great recruiting closer Defensive Line: Butch Davis, UNC, oh look another stud recruiter LBs: Zach Thomas, I know he isn't coaching, but he was a decent LB eh, and he'd help get the most out of every kid that was told he wasn't big, fast or good enough DBs: Bo Pelini, duh also my coach responsible for dealing with officials Special Teams: Frank Beamer, results speak for themselves Recruiting Coordinator: Ed Orgeron, kchusker_chris is right, the guy gets big time recruits
  9. Now for a little humor for us all. Westerman has left the paradise that is Austin to go to Auborn. His parents, in a released statement, say they honored to be the first recipients of the Cam Newton Ignorance and I know Nuthin' Scholarship. It is a four year waiver for them to attend all Auburn athletic events and is said to be worth upwards of 180k. Seriously though, he was an out of state guy and they really didn't want him.
  10. Not always the case. A lot of high profile JUCO'd will redshirt players. Also not every JUCO recruit meets his required grades in those two years. Maybe that is Carter's case, again not sure. You have five years to complete your four years of eligibility in college. Under hard circumstances(major injury) the NCAA will grant a sixth year. So Joseph has completed three of his five year, and has only played two so hence he is a 2 for 2 guy.
  11. This is what the thread is about. If you(kingblank) read the whole thread you'd see the purpose of it. A LOT of Husker fans see the athleticism and skills that Diaz has, but A LOT of Husker fans also see so many things this guy could improve on and get better at. Too many times we have seen this guy turn in a respectable game and then back it up with poor performances in games where he should be so much more of a factor. If you would gladly take Diaz getting 14 points and 2 rebounds, I will guarantee you will see a record that much mirrors last season. I would be giddy over numbers the exact opposite much like bballbacker. Put it this way if his rebounding numbers are up that probably means opponents offensive rebounding numbers are lower. A stat that has killed NU since the late 90's. As far as his FG% he shot 62%, 69-111 in the non conference and lets admit it he SHOULD. Other than USC who did they play that had a solid big guy? In the four conference games so far his FG% is dropped to 40%, 16-40. Last year he shot 53%, 54-102, in nonconference and 50%,77-153, in conference. He played well at the beginning of conference and faded down the stretch. Why? Because he broke down after being pushed around. So your FG stat is pretty bunk. He may be shooting well now, but expect that to dip unless Matt Hill gets matched up on him the whole Texas game(talk about mirror images) as he goes up against much more physical front courts of KSU, A and M, Ku again, Baylor, and Okie Lite. See that leads to more of our frustration physicality. You want Diaz to be a nonfactor, just start leaning on him and pushing him around. IF he can do this, there is a chance, albeit still small in my eyes, that we could chat about the NCAA tourney. Until then there is this thread to voice our displeasur
  12. Yeah he walked in the 9th after flying out to center in the seventh. Should bump up the ole batting average though. Just kidding ya. You actually say the amount of years first then the amount of eligibility. So your question would be is "he a 3 for 2 guy." However Carter graduated in 2008, and I believe he redshirted his first year of Chaffey. So I believe he is a 2 for 2 guy. Not a 100% on this one though.
  13. well, if i was an NFL scout, i would take a proven receiver, before i would take a specimen.....receivers are a dime a dozen. Good WR's may be few and far, but the talent pool from which to find that one is huge. And many NFL execs are more wowed by physical numbers and "potential" for growth than performmance that has been put on tape. A lot of times that performance on the tapes don't mean crap, see Mike Williams from USC, Limas Sweed, Charles Rogers from Michigan St, et al. All "sure fire" draft picks and all busts(even if Williams is trying to regenerate his career). Like I said, don't be shocked if he shows well in Indy, or NU's own Pro Day, that he is drafted higher than many think
  14. Joe Moglia said yesterday that Hagg had pulled out of the Eastham Energy Game. I am actually very suprised that he would pass up the chance at playing in front of his hometown friends and family. Maybe he didn't want Gomes to be lonely. And what since NU played twice this year in the state of Texas they get the honr to play "for" the state.
  15. You know I will go out on a limb, and I know that I have company on said limb, that Niles will get drafted a LOT higher than many on this board and the so-called "experts" have said. The NFL eats up stats and feats that players put up in the combine, and Niles looks all the part of testing freak. He should put up a huge bench rep number, and then blaze a top 40 and pro agility time. He is that quick and we know his strength. Niles will put up numbers that scouts and coaches will eat up. Look at Al Davis and how far he will reach for workout warriors(is Haywood-Bay and Fabian). I will go as far and say early 3rd.
  16. Let's enjoy tonight and then be half fullfilled on those two. Yes I am changing my stance on one of them. Put it this way JP is the MAN
  17. Pulled the gun early, but I ain't gonna complain. Confirmedper Jeremy Crabtree's twitter and and his rivals profile page Welcome Ameer
  18. There was a former NYC basketball player for Rice HS in NYC, a power back in the day, who played with former St. John's ubber recruit Felipe Lopez(former Sports Illustrated cover boy) named Scientific Mapp. I crap you not. Oh yeah Scientific's little brothers name? Majestic.
  19. I'm with you Sker, Ameer is the next husker! I will bet my enttire star wars figures collection on it, well except bobba fet. You two guys still havent called my mortgage yet, although a star wars figures collection is right up there
  20. I was always a fan of God Shammgod. Point guard for Providence in the late 90's.
  21. I'd almost put a mortgage check down on it. But before I had been way off with other recruits that I have felt this good about.
  22. For me it is not so much a knock on Robinson. Great runner and a good QB. Persa is a much better passer. More yards, completed 73%, threw only four picks to 15 TDs, and the thing is Persa missed that last three games with the Achilles injury. Yes Robinson blows him out of the water in rushing yards (on about 100 more carries)but he also has a better line and more skill position weapons around him. That is why I am a big Persa fan. He makes the most out of the hand he's dealt and right before he got hurt I think we were beginning to see him scratch the surface of how he can own a ball game for Northwestern(ie the Iowa game). Again this is just my personal pick, no way discrediting the OP or any others
  23. This stat will be severly tested the 29th of this month first. That is when A&M comes to town, quite arguably the best team in the conference, definitely the best rebounding team. Huh well the best team is getting blown out as we speak I posted this before the Aggies got punked by the Whorns. And they had been playing just as good as KU before tonight. As good as NU played against last night, the Aggies will come in as favorites and if Diaz and Almeida combine for another whopping four rebounds it will be a long night against Turgeon's troops.
  24. I am another guy in Camp Persa. He scares the hell out of me as a true dual threat more than Pryor or Shoelaces. Hopefully he fully recovers from the Achilles injury. Scheelhouse is gonna be a stud but probably checks in at number four at QB. Also I will say that Craig Roh is gonna blow up huge next year for the maize and blue. Missed out on a good one
  25. This stat will be severly tested the 29th of this month first. That is when A&M comes to town, quite arguably the best team in the conference, definitely the best rebounding team.
