Yep. One game instead of all them. I remember them getting pushed around at the LOS by South Dakota State.

If that is the case I’ll still take it. It sucks to lose but I hope we never go back to get physically dominated in every aspect of the game.

***The Nebraska Defense - Blackshirts 2023***
gobiggergoredder replied to suh_fan93's topic in Husker Football
just a continuation of above……. The defense is improved. I don’t want anyone to take this the wrong way, but……… Maybe they haven’t improved as much as we’ve been led to believe. Maybe they are not a top tier D. Is it possible that the offenses have we’ve played are so bad it’s played to the advantages of the defense? I think about Michigan State and the inability to get to the QB. They are better. It’s just a reality check. What I felt like I saw yesterday was a team that was just got beat by someone better. -
No, it’s really not. And I’m not even in “fire Sat” camp.
-
It’s an awful take in regular or bold.
-
Wut?

I’m fine with that, but you have to bring in someone else for the QB room.
-
Bull… The second he announces a portal QB we will all be sporting red rockets.
-
Yeah, there was more than the formation. Just seemed to take forever.

My head scratcher was the 4th and 1 in first half. If the running back was any deeper he’d look the punter in punt formation.

Nebrasketball vs Oregon State @ The Pentagon
gobiggergoredder replied to Mavric's topic in Husker Basketball
I was kind of done with Fred, but I think (hope) I’m wrong. The way these guys play is different. They hustle. They don’t appear to be dependent on one player. I think they are going to keep growing. -
This true freshman QB at Virginia could be worth a steal too.

Nebrasketball vs Oregon State @ The Pentagon

I think the group can be decent. -
Just saw North Alabama is playing Florida State. Wonder if this team would be any better with Noah Walters at QB. North Alabama is terrible, but he has his moments.

Callahan said it on KFAB. He’s getting most of the reps in practice. Also said Sims is throwing picks in practice this week.

I think he went to Tulsa

Good point. Unless you score your contributions are irrelevant. There’s nothing gained from picking up a first down. Nothing from field position. Nothing from potentially setting up another play based upon a look. Nothing gained from it be it being your first start under a brand new coach. It doesn’t matter if you carried the ball 19 times and averaged nearly 5 yards a carry. No scores means you really didn’t contribute to the outcome of the game.

Sims is definitely a bigger liability. I don’t know how anyone could come to another conclusion. I do not agree they have the same running ability. I think Sims has far more of an upside. Haarberg is a robot until he builds up some steam. I don’t know how anyone could bring “logically” into anything we’ve seen this year. I think it’s unlikely Haarberg would have won against Minnesota in his first start, but I wouldn’t say it couldn’t happen. Sims downsides are so bad (the picks, fumbles, going the wrong way) that many have written of the raw ability he has. A Sims that plays mistake free football gives this team the best chance to win (my opinion). Based upon what we’ve seen, it’s reasonable to say that’s not even possible.
-
You’re cherry picking data The TD drive was two plays. One was a 1 yard run by Grant. The other was the fluke TD. The field goal was one big play (27 yards) by Ervin. Sims had 3 carries on the 8 play drive for 19 yards. 6.3 yards a carry.
-
The elephant in the room about the Minnesota game is they are not even in that game without Sims running ability. I still think the only way this team wins another game is with Sims at QB. While not turning the ball over. Not good odds.
-
Really? Gritty, tough kid. Played hard. I think he made the team better, but I never thought he was a “game changer”. I like what I see right now. I think they have more talent than they e had in a while. Hopefully Fred can bring them together.

I forgot about Stenger. He had to sling it at Millard South. There's two games left. Let's get crazy! GTK: Gage Stenger an intriguing athlete joining Nebraska's program - InsideNebraska (rivals.com)

I might be drinking Koolaid, but I watch this and see potential with a reasonable QB. There's a pocket. There's open receivers. Just need someone to execute.

Callahan said this morning he was scheduled to have surgery this week. Not sure if that's going to happen now or not.
