1. By all means, start a new topic that's more interesting to talk about. I think it would kind of fun to have a guess how many posts Knapp with have in the month of October poll thread. Maybe the winner could get a Husker T-shirt. It would be guess the number of Jelly Beans in a Jar game we all did in school. I'll take 401 posts.
2. The Daily Show did the same thing that every other outlet is doing. They take clips and use them to push their agenda. I saw clips from Fox News, MSNBC, CNBC, ABC World News, CBS News. Too many of you take the 'Daily Show' as a news outlet when really all they are doing is trying to be funny. I don't see how it any different when Glenn calls people Nazis or Keith Orberman goes off on the Tea Party. They are all entertainment and driven by ratings. I watch clip after clip of Fox News interviewing the biggest idiot they can find about 'Occupy Wall Street'. MSNBC has done the same thing with Tea Party members. The Daily Show then trolls thousands of clips and puts a bleeped out F-Bomb comment from Jon Stewart in with them. Same things as far as I am concerned. I saw one mention of the word Nazi and it talked about the movement that brought the Nazi's to power. I need to go back and brush up on my history, but I think the movement brought the Nazi's in was that they were fighting off communism so strongly that they lost sight of everything else.
3. I think this a lame topic. Why not if Bubba Starling didn't play baseball and Taylor got hurt in the first quarter against Wyoming, would we have won? Great victory for the Huskers.....Time to move on.
4. I doubt you have any difficulty finding those videos, but then again that doesn't address the 'double standard' I questioned in the OP. What I do think you hard a time finding is GOP members calling the 'Occupy Wall Street' crowd the enemy or that they should go to hell. I also think it will be difficult to find videos of any Dem's praising the tea party. BTW...I enjoy debating with you Carlfense. Although we rarely agree, you are respectful.
5. You could easily be asking the opposite. Why did Sean Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Glenn Beck etc. celebrate the Tea Partiers while decrying these protests as illegal socialist mobs? Perspective, I suppose. I posted a video of the president and two congresswomen and you come back with Glenn Beck? Is he even on TV anymore?
6. Just give the guy time. It's way too early. I have said it all year and I will continue to say it. Our corners aren't that bad. I would even take it a step further and say given their experience, they have played well. There is no pass rush and safety help hasn't been there.
7. I'm not really going to get into right/wrong of the protest. I think much like MSNBC/CNN does, Fox has gone out to interview the morons present in every group. I do think there are some legitimate concerns behind the reason for the protests. My real question is why are these people embraced and tea party groups are 'crazy'?
8. Well gee, 34 pts vs a top 15 defense can do that sometimes. Imagine that? It wasnt that they did it. It was how. Ohio St. has problem on offense yes, but their defense is still BCS caliber and in the 4th our guys were literally knocking them all over the field. Rex's run for the lead showed numerous white shirts on the ground. i thought I was watching a Slesinger run against Miami. Dobson needs a raise. Agreed. This guy is so far under anyone's radar. We are lucky to have this guy.
9. I'm just glad everyone now thinks the offense is fixed. One half has whitewashed everything.
10. You all can say what you want about the DB's. THERE IS NO PRESSURE ON THE QB AND THERE HASN'T BEEN ALL YEAR.
11. I saw a Boise player jawing with a Fresno player on the sideline in the 3rd quarter. It was completely unnecessary. There was no flag thrown and it really didn't have an effect on the game. It was refreshing to see Peterson run over and calmly tell the Boise player to take a seat because he was done. You don't really see that as much as you use to.
12. Agreed. The main thing that bothers me about this offense is that they can't march down 80 yards and score a td. It's either on a big play or end up kicking a field goal and those two ways shouldn't be the only time we score. I heard something on the Wyoming game that Bo said that irked me. He could live with the Big plays from Taylor, but Bo what happens when we are limited by big plays or get none at all? It's a guaranteed loss. this offense has regressed from last year. Now every team left will key in on the big plays and try to limit them. If Carnes can march the team down the field and score a td and not rely solely on big plays to score then he needs to be in there. Bo really needs to see what he has in his back ups. It hasn't regressed at all. I think just about everyone would tell you that it is better, or maybe has more potential. What is the same is a QB that is not capable of 'Consistent' & 'Reliable' distribution of the ball. These games are going to get ugly folks. Be prepared.
13. Go back to Robert Marve and Russell Wilson threads and insert 'Garrett Gilbert'. You'll get the same thing.
14. I do feel bad for Martinez. He earned the spot and has performed well at times. Truth be told, I wouldn't say that he really deserves the criticism, but that's just how it is. The level of hype around him was never appropriate and that's not his fault. He's not a very good quarterback and he's just going to have to deal with it.
15. I think that is how Bo probably sees it. He doesn't see enough from Carnes to give him a shot yet. Pelini is under a lot of pressure to win games now...like a lot of other coaches. Just like you are under a lot of pressure to manage your group and make a profit for your company. If he saw enough potential in Carnes, then he would probably being playing more. There are times where we underestimate someone and they really surprise you though. I think the whole thing is blown out of proportion. Give me a better defense and have Beck call plays to your QB's strength and I don't know if we even have this conversation. That wasn't exactly my point. My point was sometimes you need to bite the bullet.....if it is the right thing to do. As I stated before, I don't know if it is or isn't. Whether Carnes is the next big thing or not, I am concerned that the fanbase will not have the patience necessary for a QB with no experience. If he doesn't struggle right away, he will at somepoint. If he is capable, I think he deserves a legitimate shot. We can't go Cody Green on this kid. I believe the way Cody was handled was unfortunate. That being said, I didn't really care for the way Taylor was handled last year either. If he is to give Carnes a shot, he needs to let it ride.
