  1. I don't know what Huskers.com did, but this years highlights are awesome. great footage, nice, detailed flow and not to mention the player/coach involvement, not just the plays on the field, but the attitude of the moment. Bravo to whoever is putting these together.

They are very well done. Love the clip of Bo in the locker room at the end of the Ohio State video.

same here. that stuff always gets me amped.

  2. You hit the nail on the head once again Pennywise. +1.
  3. I don't know why everyone is cheering for Bo right now. He was obviously in a terrible mood. What do you want the media to talk about? Taylor is the hot button right now and fair or not, that's what the public wants to hear about. Everyone wants to know if Taylor is reacting to the criticism well or not. The media is just doing their job and it doesn't give Bo an excuse to make them feel unimportant for asking the questions people want answers to. I'm all for standing up for your players, but i'm fairly certain there was a better way to go about it.
  4. I would have loved to make the B in red also. At least put our own spin on it.
  5. Joe Ganz. He was a tremendous QB in probably the greatest era of QBs in Big XII history. He had to compete with Chase Daniel, Sam Bradford, Colt McCoy, Zac Robinson, Todd Reesing, Josh Freeman, Graham Harrell. Not to mention he holds the record for most TD passes in a game in NEB history with 7 against K-State in 2007. He was unexpectedly quick and was a terrific team leader.
  6. Anyone know if it's the standard blue or scarlet? I'm pulling for scarlet.
  7. The only reason he's getting heat right now is because he's trying to replace one of the best defenses Nebraska has seen in a long time. Prince, Gomes, Hagg, Pierre...and that's just from the 2010 squad. He is still trying to get the players to understand the concepts. He's already said he isn't going to (for lack of a better word) dumb down the defense for the players. One thing that does stand out about Bo is his inability to win the big ones, but I believe someone else we all know was known for that for a while too....
  8. Sticks and stones may break Taylor's bones, but he's still gonna throw INTs.
  9. In a way, the Packers are like the NFL's version of the Huskers, what with the tradition and the devoted fan base and all. Don't tell that to Desmond Howard...
  10. I watch it all the time. The analysts all seem to know what they're talking about and provide excellent insight into B1G Athletics. I love the variety within the network in terms of teams featured and I also love the new content each week. Definitely one of my favorite parts of joining the conference. You have to understand the total absence of this from FSN. The Big XII has nothing going for it in terms of professional television coverage/analysis. Big Ten Network is great and I've never been happier to lay back on the couch on Sundays and catch up on what I missed the day before.
  11. Hows about Crick getting his paw up and blocking an extra point? PJ Smith causing the fumble with a textbook tackle. Rex still never goes down on the first hit. Turner had a breakout game despite the poor effort by Taylor. Brandon Kinnie made a nice catch away from his body to convert a 3rd down. Lavonte showed the B1G that he may be undersized, but he is still the best linebacker in the league. I thought a lot of fans showed up for the game, so it's nice to know that Husker Nation still travels well. No alternate uniforms. Abdullah is a consistent returner who has the potential to break one every time he touches it. Ben Cotton had a nice catch/almost TD. Offensive line gave Taylor a good amount of time to throw, although self destructed at times with the penalties to start drives after Wisconsin scored. I think most posters are only being critical of the team because they care so much about them. I want what's best for the team and when I see something that is somewhat of a cancer to the team (Taylor), I want to let my fellow Husker Fans know my opinion to see how the rest of the fan base feels and see if my opinion is shared or not and try to gain a new perspective about the situation. I love the team and would never say anything negative about individual players as human beings, but I will never stop being critical of them as players because when you play at Nebraska, you play at a high level and are the biggest celebrities in the state. You are looked up to by so many people that it's hard not to be critical of them. They affect my day-to-day life. I'm on Huskerboard posting about them right now, so obviously they mean a lot to me and I just don't want to see them take steps backwards. GO BIG RED!
  12. We've done well when McDonough calls our games. I like the pair in general. Millen being the lesser of the two in my opinion. The only thing that sucks is that I can still hear Sean McDonough to this day, "Has a man open.......CAUGHT!!!! DANNY COALE!!!!!! ALL THE WAAAAAAAY!!! OUT OF BOUNDS AT THE 2 YARD LINE!!!! O'Hanlon Fail.
  13. Let's break this down and see if we can't have a rational conversation. Taylor --Flawed throwing mechanics - It's a no brainer that the kid is an athlete playing quarterback. Why wasn't he recruited by anyone else as a QB? He doesn't step into his throws which causes him to only use his upper body and that's why he shorts most of the deeper passes. His throwing motion is awful. Anyone who watches him throw can see it. The thing that scares me is that he continues to play this way after starting for an entire year (banged up or not) + the first 5 this year. Like Herbstreit said, he has a 3 second timer in his head when he is in the pocket. Whether the pocket is collapsing or not, after 3 seconds or so, he panics, scrambling outside and just flings up an meatball (See INT # 1). --Poor decision-making in the passing department - It's not like the Badger defenders made spectacular plays to pick Taylor off, they didn't even make great plays. They simply caught the ball when Taylor threw at them. It's not like the receivers ran bad routes or couldn't catch the ball when it came their way. The WRs have stepped up so far this year and are no longer an excuse for Taylor's awful throws. Each of Taylor's 3 INTs last Saturday came from poor decision-making and for him not to learn from the INT #1 OR INT #2 really sends a message to me that the kid just isn't getting it. For those of you saying he's only a sophomore, find a different excuse. He's been in Lincoln for 3 years. He's a glorified junior starting his 2nd season at Nebraska. The biggest strides QBs make in their college careers TYPICALLY come between their 1st and 2nd season as the starter. The final season(s) are when they have the mechanics down and are just fine tuning themselves at that point. Taylor is not even close to this point. --Lacks ball security when running the football/scrambling in the pocket - This is a big one. It takes almost zero skill to hold onto the football. Everyone wants to point out that Taylor is a running quarterback and shouldn't be compared to the many Pro-style QBs around the country. This is true, Taylor isn't a Pro-style QB, he's a runner, and as a running QB, you NEED, not should, NEED to be able to hold onto the football. Again, he hasn't progressed in this category at all since he stepped onto the turf against Western Kentucky over a year ago. This is a MAJOR concern with how many times he carries the ball each game. The fact that he carries the ball as much as Rex is beyond ridiculous, but that's beside the point, and not entirely his fault, but if he claims to be a running QB, you'd figure that ball security shouldn't be a concern, but it definitely is. --One-dimensional runner- I know many posters have touched on this already so I won't go into much detail, but again, he is a straightforward runner and not too much more. He can't juke anyone and he doesn't break many tackles. He obviously can accelerate as well as anyone in the country (minus the SEC), but he just doesn't have enough of the necessary running qualities when you have to get past ALL 3 LAYERS of the defense. If he was at a different position, then maybe his acceleration and 'beat-you-to-the-corner' speed would come in handy, but lining up under center, limited to only those two attributes, doesn't produce (at least against teams with quality defenses). He has yet to put a successful game together on the ground against a quality opponent, weak ankle or not weak ankle (See 2010 Texas). --Zero leadership qualities -- Obviously this one is more of an opinion that a fact, but it needs to be addressed. Everyone has seen the pressers. He is awkward, to put it lightly, in front of the media and never says what he needs to say as the leader of a top-notch football team. The emotional aspect of being a QB is almost as important as the physical aspect. You need to know how to address your players when times are tough and battle through adversity. This is my biggest problem with Taylor. HE HAS NO RESILIENCE AS A PLAYER. When he does something wrong, he has not once, NOT ONCE, came back from it in the same game and proved everyone wrong. When he throws an INT in a game, he never improves after he does so. His best games, that really mattered, in his career overall as a QB are 10 WASH, 10 KSU, and 10 OKST. All three were not only less-than-stellar defenses, but Taylor did not throw an INT in any of those games. His best games unfold when he never screws up in the passing game. When he does, he has yet to show any sort of resilience. When he falls, he falls hard and can't seem to pick himself up: a MAJOR issue when you're the leader of the offense. As the leader of the team, you need to take responsibilities for your teams offensive performance and put the blame on your shoulders, even if it's not completely your fault. It shows that you're unselfish and thinking of your teammates before yourself. He has yet to show that in his pressers, or at least the one's I've seen. The bottom line is that Taylor should not be the future of Nebraska football. He has made little, if any progress in the very reasonable amount of time he's seen over the last few years. I realize that Brion hasn't proven himself in practice to challenge Martinez for the starting role, but with what I've just explained, he needs to become a more prevalent part of the offense every week. He needs to see time nearly every week in order to improve and develop chemistry with his teammates. Whether he has challenged Taylor for the starting role or not, Bo needs to at least implement him into the offense in order to develop him as a player and perhaps light a fire under Taylor's rear end. The fact that he did not see any snaps during the second half last weekend was mind boggling. I think we have to stick with Taylor for now given the extreme shortage of able QBs behind him, but anyone who truly believes that Martinez is the right man for the job is delusional.
  14. Blaming a QB for throwing terrible passes is as fair as fair can be. Just because he's a running QB doesn't mean he gets let off the hook in the passing department. Tim Beck didn't "force" Taylor to do anything. He called passing plays. It's Taylor's fault that he can't throw the ball with any accuracy. If calling passing plays is unfair to a QB, then clearly he shouldn't be under center. FACT.
  15. And when he wins it is against poor teams and it is ugly. Bo has simply done a very poor job as a head coach. Poor preparation. Teams fielded w/o heart or passion. Teams unprepared, poor assignment football --- worse than any team I have seen. They play flat, lifeless against weak competition. And freak out against good competition --- imploding and killing themselves. Poor offensive game plans. And now, oddly, even the defense is not fundamentally sound. I think that Bo has to be viewed now as coaching for his job --- that is, from here on out this season, he better improve a great, great deal or he will be on the hot seat. This game did not at all surprise me. I predicted a big loss and even stated that the potential for a blow out was there --- I went on record and said Wisconsin by 21-35 pts. Why? Because of our poor coaching (and the resulting play of under-prepared players who are not focused). Thus, my stating that Bo has been doing a poor job as a head coach is not an over reaction to one game. I cannot over-react to a game that I predicted, essentially would go precisely as it went. I have been softly posting for the past year that Bo is wildly over-rated by most posters here --- and that he has done well, well below average as a head coach. He is seemingly not getting better. I now fear that he has lost this team... or... at the very least, is losing the team. I predicted before the season began that NU would lose 4 games in conference. That again was predicated upon the past inability of Bo to ready his teams. We will lose 3 more times in conference --- maybe 4 more. That Bo has not played Carnes for at least 1 quarter of each of the first four games against the cream puffs is inexcusable. the kid needs reps. He may not be a D1 QB either... but the one starting is CERTAINLY not. As much as I wish it was not the case, Martinez is no D1 QB. That is clear now and it was clear long ago. An... he is not really that good of a runner either -- check his stats against conference competition. Last night, Martinez needed to sit some and get unrattled --- but Bo did not provide a context for such as he did not prepare his back-up earlier in the season. None of this is a surprise. It all plots as a pretty straight line --- Bo has been consistent from the start --- over his time here the NU team has game in and game out under-performed --- always weak on fundamentals, passion, drive, physicality, and focus --- almost always with poor coaching on offense, poor roster management from the start, and now even (and this is both new and odd) coaching problems on defense. Buckle up folks... this season is set for much of the same. The past always is the best predictor of the future. Hey Rob, There's an unfortunate side effect of being dedicated to reason--we get honest, hard posts like these. I can't jump on the fire Pelini bandwagon, which I don't think is what you're suggesting anyway, but his miraculous defensive turnaround in two years speaks volumes about his potential abilities, and I'm as surprised as anyone about his defense this year. Part of me thinks if it were even playing something like on par with last year we wouldn't be having this conversation, but we are. I'm sure you're about to get jumped on big time, so let me be the first to back you up, sir. What I see right now in this team is what we've been seeing for years. We're a team living in the shadow of Osborne, and while no serious person expects in this day and age to legitimately compete for a national championship every single year, the fact that we can't transcend surviving games we should dominate and occasionally knocking off teams of comparable or greater talent is frustrating. We're a program feeding off an image of days long gone by, expectations always surpassing performance by a considerable margin. I wasn't a fan of Pelini's timidity in his offseason hires and nothing between then and now has forced me to rethink that skepticism. For the third straight year we witnessed an offensive implosion when the lights came on. Not a bad play, a bad break--a complete and utter breakdown at every level. The penalty flags were flying as were the errant passes. You would ask someone what happened, but who has a clue? They haven't for three years and they won't tomorrow. We've heard plenty of guff about Nebraska 'finding an identity' on offense, but the gag is they've had an identity all along, and it's been right in front of our faces. Like you, I'm willing to call a spade a spade. I said the real criticism of Martinez would begin when his athleticism against weak opponents no longer outweighed his mistakes against better ones. Well, it has begun. I thought he had grown a bit since last year. I hoped by game 5 we would have seen it. I think we've all seen enough of Martinez. the results speak for themselves. I'm with you on Bo as far as this: the "I trust Bo" and "Don't underestimate Beck" crowd can sit down now. We've heard enough. Trust is earned. You want it, earn it. If the season goes as you predict--and I conceded it may well do just that--we'll be having this conversation as fans with a lot more edge in our voices. One terrible game into the season isn't the time, but that time could show up soon, which is a sad enough story as it stands. You said it all. I was going to post my opinion, but little did i know that you were thinking the same exact thing.
  16. Rex need more touches. Turner needs more touches (screens, slants, whatever) Why did we abandon the I-formation? Secondary is showing its inexperience. Like what Nuance said, we have made second half adjustments before, but it was against far weaker competition. If any Husker fans want to know what our team is really made of, pay close attention to the 2nd half. Will be fight and make this a game, or will we fold and let Sconnie have their way with us? I still believe. GO BIG RED!
  17. Listening to someone elses dreams is like flipping through a stack of photos. If I'm not in any of them, and no one is having sex, i just don't care. Haha just kidding. We've all had that feeling before. I hate it when I wake up, take my morning piss, then completely forget what I was dreaming out.
