  1. For some reason it irritates me when people bring up the "but if it's 4 teams the 5th team will complain" argument. Partially because it's brought up all the time. It's not NEAR as big of a deal as that 3rd ranked team not getting a chance. The 5th ranked team not getting into a playoff is barely a comparable situation, imo. You can be pretty certain with a 4 team playoff that at least the top 2 or 3 teams who've had the best seasons are getting a chance and that's what's most important. Even when people bring up an 8 team playoff, people still bring up how it's unfair to the 9th team. Any playoff is better than none, imo. Four teams seems like it would be the best because the BCS could keep their name and their bowls. They could have a rotation like they do now. Each year one bowl would get the best game that isn't part of the playoff, then rotate. All other bowls could still exist. The only problem here is the Rose Bowl tradition. The one reason I like not having a playoff is because every game counts. If we have a 4 team playoff, I think it will still feel like every game counts.
  2. I mean, replying to a topic about a Star Wars game is +10 nerdiness. Making the topic is +15. I sacrifice way too much for you people. Um, anyway... I'm going to play it. I play about one game a year and KOTOR I & II are in my top 5 so I have no choice. I'm probably going to play a chiss-something. Probably an Imperial Agent Operative Medic. (+5 for knowledge). Which means I also need to finally read the first Zahn Star Wars book because apparently the main bad guy is a Chiss (that has to be a +20).

    Bowl Swag

we lost our chance for most attractive coaching staff when he left.
  4. It was 3 de-effing-grees when I left this morning. You must be off your rocker.
  5. As much as I'd like it I just don't see it. It would be hard working for the guy who was hired over you.
  6. I for one cannot believe we're still talking about Carl Pelini when some screwball just said that Fight Club stars Ben Affleck, gets a little long, but it's a "pretty good movie." *shakes head in dismay* and I don't care if he's already been corrected! It's unforgivable!
  7. I'll be boycotting the championship game, which won't be hard because I have no interest in watching them play again.
  8. He's Steve Spurrier. He's just trying to be humble by saying he's not important.
  9. OSU was 22 points from jumping Alabama in the Coaches' Poll.
  10. here's a link to last week's BCS standings (which includes the points): http://sportsillustr...ncaa/polls/bcs/ OSU's .0839 behind Alabama. In the Harris & Coaches they're .034 & .031 behind the 3rd ranked teams (VT & Stanford). Let's pretend they only move up to 3rd and have the same # of points as those 3rd ranked teams currently do. That would require Alabama losing NO 2nd place votes (and I've already read a couple articles of people saying they're changing their votes). They'll be .0189 behind Alabama. If they move into 2nd in one or the other of the polls I think they get the spot. Or if they move enough in the computer polls. Or if Alabama loses *enough* 2nd place votes.
  11. Here's the e-mail OSU sent out to voters: http://www.warblogle...rTheCowboys.pdf Also, OSU is ranked 5th in the Harris poll too, which will definitely change. They're .08 behind Alabama. In the Harris they're .12 points behind Alabama, in the coaches they're .11 points behind Alabama. In the Harris they're .04 behind Stanford and coaches they're .03 behind Stanford. I feel almost certain they'll move ahead of Stanford. So that's .07 of the .08 they need. Alabama will gain 0 points.
  12. Husker fans do not like "the ol' ball coach". Nothing personal but if you go to the game, expect to see the signs!! I can't dislike someone we beat 62-24.
  13. I remember loads of people changing their votes about 14 years ago with two teams who had the same records. Very few people want to watch Alabama vs LSU again, and now OSU has given the voters an excuse for moving OSU ahead of Alabama without having to feel too guilty about it. I think it's very possible.
  14. I don't think Alabama will be going to the national championship game. Some people will change their votes. In addition to that, Virginia Tech is ranked #3 in the USA Today Poll. They are losing by 21 points right now. So Oklahoma State will move up at least 1 rank there. That could help push them over. I also think they may move ahead of Stanford in that poll after this.
  15. No. It's not. But I will still accept your apology.
  16. I read the article, and I'm starting to get the impression that he's just a really bad driver.
  17. This seems like a weird post from a Nebraska fan, where our HC was also the offensive coordinator for around 30 years. And how do you know there are tons of people who know defense just as well as Pelini? I would definitely disagree with that. I would say there are is a small handful of people we could hire as defensive coordinator who know defense as well as Bo. On the other hand I disagree with the post you're quoting as well. This is Nebraska. We don't have to hire someone who's never coached at the position for. We can find a decent experienced guy if we want. Good points and a reasonable response to my post... True enough that Tom Osborne was a HC and an OC. It is a rare individual with the skill set and the infrastructure around him to actually pull it off. Tom was one of those guys --- and more often than not, he had the necessary infrastructure around him as well.. There are others too. They are, like Tom, and exception. The rule however --- that which applies to the vast majority of coaches --- is that diluting your duties this way is not good. For Bo, who has multiple demonstrable areas where he must improve (and, arguably, improve a great deal) in order to be proficient as a HC --- well, he cannot afford to be "distracted" (further, any more, or increasingly?) by being a DC as well (any more than he is already). Bo, clearly would fall under the rule --- it is not good to be a 2-job guy... unlike Tom, who, with his skills and in a simpler time, and in a better situation (generally) was the exception. Regarding knowing that there are DC's out there that know their D like Bo does --- well, Bo is very good (that is doubtless)... but while he is clearly upper-tier --- he is by no means alone at that level. IMO, he does fine when he's running the defense. It's not having a good offensive coordinator that's been the problem. I think Beck will be good. Bo just needs to trust him next year. I'm not even sure it was wrong for him to focus on the offense the last year. It was Beck's first year so it kind of makes sense. Now he has experience and Bo can get back to focusing on the defense.
  18. This seems like a weird post from a Nebraska fan, where our head coach was also the offensive coordinator for around 30 years. And do you really mean to say there are tons of people who know defense just as well as Pelini? I would definitely disagree with that. I would say there are is a small handful of people we could hire as defensive coordinator who know defense as well as Bo. Maybe less than a handful. In addition to that, the first time he gave someone else (Carl) more control over the defense, this year is what happened. His worst defense since being head coach at Nebraska On the other hand I disagree with the post you're quoting as well. This is Nebraska. We don't have to give new people a chance. That's for lesser programs to do. We can find a decent experienced guy if we want. That isn't to say I'm against hiring within, I'm just against your logic.
  19. I'm happy I get to see him coaching again. Texas Tech was always fun to watch.
  20. I have no issue with Bo trying to get the OSU job, as far as how I feel about him. He went to that school. He's from Ohio. Why would he NOT try to get that job? I'm just glad he didn't get it.
  21. If we're head and shoulders better than Iowa then we're head and shoulders better than Michigan but they just got lucky.
  22. I was looking at his stats compared to last year and they are very similar but he was sacked more than double the # of times last year. He is way better at throwing it away/scrambling/finding a target than he was last year. He usually knows now when he's had the ball too long.
