So I was reading about Suh having his jersey retired at halftime during the upcoming CU game next week. It reminded me of all the Husker greats up on the walls at Memorial including Tommie Frazier, Dave Remmington, Mike Rozier, Johnny Rodgers, Eric Crouch, Trev Alberts, Dean Steinkuhler... the list could go on.
I checked Huskers.com, and according to them, there are now 17 Huskers (including Suh) to have the honor of their jersey retired; link
I also read that 3 huskers, Johnny Rodgers #20, Novak #60, and Bob Brown #64, have their numbers permenantly retired, which bars future players from ever wearing it. Also, "Rodgers allowed his number to return to circulation when his son, Terry, joined the Huskers, but it has since returning to permanently retired status."
Well, I was explaining to a buddy that numbers 20, 60 and 64 are permenantly retired, and the current roster reflects that no one wears them. But now I remember that Adi Kunalic wore number 20 like 2 years ago. My buddy even has a newer replica #20 jersey. I remember there was swiching of numbers between Ganz, Lee, Helu, Lucky and Kunalic if I'm not mistaken... Can anyone explain why he wore number 20???
If there is not enough numbers, many time multiple Huskers will wear the same number (Martinez and Thenarse #3).
