  1. Aside from the fact that his passer rating went up, not down, from the middle of the season to the end, and he's had a very-injured O line in front of him both years, WRs who can't catch the ball, and defenses routinely key on stopping him, you're right. He's worthless. His #72in the nation passer rating is garbage. His #58 in the nation All-Purpose yards mark is garbage. His #66 in the nation Points Responsible For ranking is garbage. All while being a sophomore. And breaking in a new offensive system. And working with one of the youngest offenses we've had at Nebraska in five years. Yep. Let's just sh#t-can Martinez and bring in the next guy. Doesn't matter how good he is, he's got to be better than Martinez. Right? Absolutely. Obviously won't be better right off the bat. That's not what I'm asking for though. I know you're a huge supporter of the guy cause I see your posts backing him up. If we are going all in with Martinez, which is what we're currently doing, we are not going to be in good shape...Those numbers are middle of the pack and nothing to get excited about. You're right the O-line was beat up, but even when he's given time he doesn't utilize the pocket. Take away all the drops and put in an even realtively healthy OL and TM has a FANTASTIC year stat wise. No way to prove it...but I'd bet my next paycheck on him moving up to the top 25% in many of those categories.
  2. You leave Johnny out of this. Dude needs to pay the bills. Would you call me Al Bundy if I told you I have video evidence of sacking Crouch in the NE State High School Championship Semis ala 1995! Oh yea baby....MS Grad. He left the game after the hit actually...... [taking hand out of pants now]
  3. the play in the first video at :34 in....we ran that against S.C. and I thought it was AWESOME at the time. I think it was either Bell or Marlowe who motioned back toward the QB from the left side of the field, then was the pitch man with option going back to the left. There is already some of this in NU's offense....but more would be sweet!
  4. Man.....he was fast. 75% of those TDs were either option or option pass and run to PERFECTION.
  5. Outside looking in.....I couldn't agree more. Inside looking in the mirror....I still probably agree - but there was probably a disaster year or two looming, which could have probably been ridden out if a couple good recruiting classes came in. People tend to say the 'cupboard was empty' when Solich was canned and BC was brought in.....it really wasn't THAT bad....but there were certainly areas that needed to be addressed, in terms of players. The succession choice after Solich was the real disaster. Imagine a slightly less qualified and younger Norv Turner being brought in at WI...... I think you could liken Solich to Lloyd Carr.....he would have pulled out a MNC, most likely, at some point....but not quite the predecessor and would've 'retired' eventually, earlier than he really wanted to. Bo will probably turn out to be an upgrade vs Solich. I really do think so...if he's around for a while. Just need all the right pieces at the right time to find what it'll take for the long haul. Often times, those things are stumbled upon. I think Bo is starting to build his career like the Hayden Fry and Bill Snyder types. It wouldn't surprise me if he had 6 or 7 head coaches out there in 15 years that got their 'start' under him. Time will tell I guess. Hopefully he's successful enough for people to write about those head coaches and how they 'studied' under Bo Pelini.
  6. It amazes me how many of the same post topics are started day...after day...after day....after day. It's like groundhog day around here!
  7. Worthy going to NFL: Story http://espn.go.com/nfl/draft2012/story/_/id/7428662/michigan-state-spartans-jerel-worthy-entering-draft
  8. This I actually like his staffing decisions. Can't say I agree with this at all.
  9. I think Pelini is perfect for NU and wil only get better with time...like a fine wine. I am loving his approach to building and grooming a coaching ladder for younger coaches, while still having success with it. It reminds me of the Hayden Fry and Bill Snyder type legacies. In 10 - 15 years - Bo will have an incredible amount of ex-assistants as successful coordinators or head coaches around the country. I think it's pretty cool and gives us 'fresh' blood, which has it's drawbacks, but makes talking about NU football in the offseason more fun!
  10. I love how everyone says NU ran the option in '71.
  11. We should also add that you must have the USC online completely prepared to take on Jared Crick. His ability to push off at the line is incredible and almost impossible to stop.
  12. I nominate this for best post of the year....given the context of this thread. F'ing AWESOME!
  13. Yea - great point about Fitz. He's a damn good coach. I hear ya on Hoke...certainly handed some talent and time will tell. He really does seem to be a good fit.....but life is easier for him with Dennard / others right now. Amazing the improvements on D. The Greg Mattison hire might have been the move that makes his legacy.
  14. With Dantonio doing well, the Hoke hire turning out like it is, Brett B at Wiscy and of course Pelini at NU.....I can't help but think the entire conference now has all the right pieces to bring added hype and expectations that can't be anything but good for the conference and, ultimately, NU. If PSU can recover sooner than later.....there could be 4 or 5 annual 'powers' that elevate everyone since they all play each other. Similar to the SEC. Thoughts?
  15. All things aside... Your name has got to be the best one on this site... Thanks dude! That's our competition bbq team name! Check us out... www.bbqrevolution.com
  16. No, you're just acting like one because you're a Packers fan. I thought we were cool Dude, now not so much... We're cool. Hearing Packers fans getting butthurt over Ndamukong Suh is just getting extremely tedious. Not butthurt, I'm not crying about it. I don't want an apology, raping the sh#t out of the Lions in their own house and having Suh not be able to do a damn thing about it is good enough for me. However I would like some of you to acknowledge he's dirty but oh well. May not happen. That play today was dirty, no question. Several others he's been flagged for previously were questionable at best...and probably NOT dirty in most of those several. A few others have been pretty bad, indeed (slamming someone's head to the ground) That said - I really don't think he's the dirtiest player in the NFL - and Badgerfan - you've admitted before you become clouded in perspective because of being a fan of Wisconsin. Your comments today are probably a little skewed toward the Pack here I'm guessing....just because you are a fanatic.
  17. Ugh.....sucks that it hurts because it did feel like that type of comment.
  18. 10-3 is a good finish, however it is NOT the way folks thought it would play out. 10-3 might be a fortunate finish....given some of the games we've had. A few others could have gone the other way.
  19. This is because Nebraska IS Iowa nowadays. Started in 2002 and may not ever end!
  20. That. The first half showed what Mich wanted to do. Bo and Staff have done a far poorer job at half-time adjustments this year (Marvin? Watson?). I dunno.....I feel like halftime adjustments have been one of the brighter sides of the season for the huskers this year. This one wasn't good thought.
  21. I think the first half was phantom 'good' - meaning - it looked a lot better than it was. Michigan has us right where they wanted us on both sides of the ball...especially their d vs our o.
