The reason for the departure of the 42-year-old Langsdorf is unclear, especially since he's returning to essentially the same job he left a year ago, just at a different place. My guess is he doesnt like working for that meany Tom Coughlin. We will likely pay him more than what he is making now and it will be a lower stress environment than NY. Easy decision. I just hope he isnt here to collect a pay check. Well.....if next season goes like this season did for NY....they will have no choice but to clean the coaching house. He is going to be in a more stable position at NU, that's for sure.

Wow. Not sure how many are going to agree, but I think this is a great hire. Tough season in NY....but he's a really good coach.

He had, arguably, a top 5 safety season in the country. With no LB help, he's bound to be juked out of his socks a number of times. This guy was (again arguably) the best defensive player every game for NU. Go ahead and crush me, but he outshined Gregory in nearly every single game they both played.

I didn't read all the responses, just Landlord's opening post. Well said. Hardly anyone will remember, but I posted a while back a thread called '8 quarters' - which was to say there were only 8 quarters left to watch Ameer and Bell. All I got in response was a bunch of good riddance KB type responses. I started backing away from the steaming pile after that. Disappointed in more than a few around here. EDIT: Foot in mouth on the 8 quarters responses.....they were much more positive than I thought. The general negativity has clouded my mind. Apologies.

Agree that it was good to see that Tmart run. That guy was amazing. For all his faults and all the shots (figuratively) he took......he was a human highlight reel. Lots of 'what could have been' with that QB here at NU.

Did he mention how he was going to distribute Blackshirts? I don't care how they get distributed...but the next guy to come in here and undersell what is arguably the greatest marketing tool NU has........well - he just can't do that. It's part of the brand and shouldn't be minimized at all.......... It matters, both from a financial standpoint and a recruiting standpoint. It should be a prominent part of the whole deal...........

The word his DC is horrible. So that's terrible news. Well the year we lost to UCLA 36-30 and Wisc 70-31...he did beat both, 27-20 and 10-7. He held that Wiscy team to 7. That's roughly 63 points better than NU.

All those freaking out simply don't understand the bigger picture, Mike Riley has proven he can do a lot with a little, especially when having to compete with Nike U, which would be hard for ANYONE!!! Now imagine what he may be able to accomplish here with the unlimited resources Nebraska has. I may be in the minority (at least among the fan base), but I think the future is brighter than many Husker fans realize; time will tell. This crowd is either all but gone and switched sides - OR - has agreed that there's no point in arguing any longer. I'm in the former. It's gone pretty quiet with that argument. It's really, REALLY tough to argue that making a change at HC isn't the best decision to make at this point.

So Osborne is a legend when you want him to be and something else if he's potentially a roadblock to your ire.He's a legend. He also is retired. He also will have no say in whether Bo is retained or not. Polo, I agree with you on moving on. However, this is just not true. He won't have direct influence, but the BOR will ask for his input and will respect it. So will Eichorst. A major decision with the direction of the football program at stake will go through Tom. He won't be the final decision maker, but he will hold heavy influence. Especially on Howard Hawks and the other boosters. I agree with this and it wouldn't be very smart to not at least consult the man. I do hope, however, that no one makes him take the stage and provide public input or quotes or whatever. For his sake: let the man enjoy his retirement and let NU turn the page by way of force so he can enjoy some of his retirement. This is sad, but if he's put on the spotlight, I can just hear someone like Lee asking: So, Tom, what do you think in hindsight about choosing Bo as BCs replacement? SMH. How do you even answer that without lashing out? Tom would be cordial about it...but still. Don't even put him in that position.

I think BRI is on target with this... the bit about "he'll do as he is told" couldn't be stated better. For a LONG time I really believed the fans had a say in these matters... I was dead wrong. It is big money at the controls. Love it or hate it, its a fact that a panel of money will determine Bo's future at NU. College sports are a business, Bo is bad for business at NU. I hate saying that because I truly believed until Saturday despite the warnings along the way: the A&M meltdown on Martinez, the hat assault on a ref, BoGate, and too many tirades on national TV to count... just to name a few. I'm officially on board with the Bo must go camp, sorry I ever doubted you guys. This is true! But the big money agenda is very much driven by the general outcry from the fans.......I think we (fans) share the same agenda with them (boosters). Maybe not exact, but we are close enough.
