  1. like with every conference, what helps you in the conference race, may hurt you in the BCS
  2. okie lite is down right salty. OU showing some life now.
  3. OU is in serious trouble. A&M and the 12th man are putting it on the Sooners right now. If OU don't turn the momentum around "sooner" they won't be able to stop the bleeding.
  4. Hawks got out of it against a not-so-good IU team.
  5. Congrats on your win today! Big time win Thank you! Finally got some offense today! BTW: OU may be in serious trouble!! GEAUX AGGIES!!
  6. Well I too was wrong. I'll admit it. Cyclones are impressive this year. Strong performance yet again. And to the other poster, who quoted the write up about Husker problems with police and media in New Orleans, I don't defend N.O. in any fashion. I can, however defend what I know about the majority of LSU fans: LSU respects the Huskers, and literally LOVES Omaha! I have attended many games in Tiger Stadium, but would dearly love (although likely impossible) to see a Husker home game! GEAUX BIG RED!
  7. When I see some consistency in schedules I will be all for a playoff as well. Until then all the teams that play the cupcakes can continue to be left out IMO. Boise State, #1 in total defense. Against....the #120, #79, #116, #99, and #119 ranked offenses. Boise State, #4 in total offense. Against...the #110, #119, #118, #107, and #113 defenses. This is the one argument FOR the current system I can agree with.
  8. Before ending up in Iowa, I was born and raised in Louisiana, half Cajun, and whole LSU fan. I had never known enough about Husker fans or big Ten/12 fans to even have an opinion of them. Since meeting my wife and her family and friends, as well as watching plenty of Husker games with them, on TV of course not in the stadium, I can realy appreciate the attitudes of all the Big Red fans I have met. I know there are many who can get nasty, but I also went to Omaha, to the CWS, wearing my LSU gear and was warmly welcomed by many residents, even several beeped their horns and gave a hearty, "Go Tigers," which I was most impressed with, not to mention the number of Husker fans who readily allow LSU fans to park in their yards at no charge. We spent much time at Valla's around Halloween, and I wore my LSU gear while they wore their red. We always ended up talking football for hours. Living in Iowa, I also have heard for 19 years the Iowa/ISU rivalries, heard the fans go at it, and heard the ISU fans rant about the Huskers. I also know from my wife, how poorly she was treated in Colorado, at a NU/UC game, by the buffaho fans, who seem to be the worst in the Big 12, at least from what I've heard. To the other poster, I frequent tigerdroppings.com and, asside from the occasional idiot we aren't proud of, there is much respect for the Huskers and their fans by the LSU fans there. Feel free to check it out. A fair warning, if you decide to start a thread announcing your arrival, be prepared to be berated with gtfo, and all such jabs, but it is a ritual of sorts that is all in fun, you will also get welcomes too. They do that to everyone who creates the, "Hello, this is my first post and I am new!" thread, regardless of team affiliation. End of commercial.
  9. Well sorry then but what exactly did you want me to think when you lead with that? If you wanted to talk about real life then perhaps you should talk about it instead of bringing up message boards? That's verging on baffling. my bad
  10. I said many but it's a subjective term as I'm unable to quantify specifically. You're not from Big 8/12 land are you? Unfortunately, as with anything, there's always going to be the Kietzman's/DeArmond's of the world that would love nothing better than to see the reputation of NUs fan base fall flat on it's face. The same people who love kicking down sand castles. I have complete faith that much of this will go away once we leave conferences as I think tensions are pretty high right now. I met a lot of cool Mizzou fans last weekend but I also met a few who couldn't wait for us to (something about high horses and gtfoing if I recall). You're talking about message boards I'm talking about real life, so until live a while in Big 12 land I don't think you're going to know what I'm talking about. With that being said I think we're in for some really good times traveling/hosting once we enter the Big 10. It's a clean slate. Nebraskans are really nice by nature (for the most part) and I think most Huskers will be pretty eager to leave a positive first impression. You can't judge anything off the internet. The best way to judge a fan base is to completely forget everything you've heard, keep an open mind (well, fill it with a little tolerance and perspective) and find things out for yourself. Again, I'm not going to sit here and debate which fans have the nicest internet fans because that's a pretty pointless discussion. Even on here I've seen someone brag about getting banned from another teams website. It doesn't matter because the internet generally brings out the worst/stupidest in people anyway. I realize the contradiction in what I posted above and what I'm saying here, and I admittedly should have said "attitudes" like above to be more specific. X fans are all terrible or there's only X # of good fans in X town is something I've heard echoed in real life quite a few times. It is what it is and I'm just advising that everyone step back and have some perspective once in a while. Us Huskers do sometimes have the attitude that winning is our birthright (myself included) and it comes out once in a while. It shouldn't surprise anyone that other people pick up on that and might get a little annoyed with us for it. The rest of the internet bs is stuff that most decent people would keep to themselves when confronted face to face with another fan, so I don't even bother with that. I have lived in Georgia for the last year, but lived the previous 19 in Iowa. My wife is from Omaha and her whole family, of course, are Big Red fans. I lived around fans of all conferences. You are verging on insult when you assume I base my opinions on the internet. I was speaking the truth, using one example from a message board as a compliment, not to wage any kind of debate with you or anyone about fan bases.
  11. "Posts like above leave me pretty unsurprised many people find us arrogant and condescending." Actually, I can say that in my visits to other fan boards, and being a long-time member of one from my team, Husker fans are deemed the most upstanding, respectful, loyal fans in the NCAA. Yes, every fan base has their retards, but I would say the Husker base has fewer by far than any. Recently on the LSU board, a poster compared LSU fans rightly negative in the light of NU fans. Another poster responded with, "It's not hardly fair to be compared with the best fan base in the country." Everyone promptly agreed. That being said, I also have a lot of respect for the Cyclone fans, in that, they have had as much reason as any fan to get off the wagon, but the core fan base stays true and is ready to ride the latest success train as far as it will take them. I actually am glad to see them be able to strut a little, as we all know how it feels when your team doesn't compete.
  12. yes! That's his MO as well; getting a drum and beating the skin off it.
  13. Long Division Short Division Nah, American and National seem logical though unoriginal I believe they should be named with the adding of more divisions for the implementation of the playoff system in mind. So maybe Divisions 1&2 or Alpha and Bravo... wishful thinking huh.
  14. over 3- number of Cyclone turnovers
  15. I'm not a fan. My wife even asked why she is on there, besides how she looks. I would like someone like a Mike Ditka, or someone whose opinions and true knowledge of the game I can respect. I feel the exact same way about Mark May, who just doesn't often make a lot of sense.
  16. Sorry, the Clones normally have one good one in them per year. That one has passed. Huskers win going away. Book it.
  17. Welcome to the board. THANK YOU!
  18. This is probably the best description of Musberger I've ever seen. I have always wanted to find the right words to explain my disdain for him. I feel somehow victimized by having to listen to him announce a game. Even if he is favoring my team, he does it in such a way as to disgust me. If he were announcing an Auburn game, I am certain I would have to mute the sound to save me from damaging my TV. My hat is off in salute to the above analogy. ETA: Great job vs Mizzoo, Huskers!!
  19. My wife is from Omaha, so her family, she and I are all Big Red Fans. I being from LA am LSU first. That said, I noticed the same thing. His runs against K State were all in wide open fields. UT just game planned themselves into his lanes and he didn't handle it well. I believe he will become an even more special player, but he is fairly one dimensional at the moment.
  20. wow, very impressive... much more mature and adult-like than what I am used to on the LSU boards.
