I prefer scoreboard. I think seasons are still judged by W-L, not yardage gained and allowed. I think its a problem when you give up 600 yards to an inferior opponent. Its a recipe for disaster.

Alabama has been successful with this scheme but Pelini is not as seasoned as a head coach as Saban. We dont have to be "Alabama" good to win the Big Ten. Pelinin has a very unexperienced D coordinator and O coordinator. They make terrible mistakes at the most inopportune time. Both coordinators are what is holding him back. If he is not careful they are going to get him fired. ESPCECIALLY JP!!! Late getting in the calls that Pelini is giving him anyway. What purpose does he serve exactly? Beck is medicore. The offense puts up yards yes, but it seems like when they have a chance to really put teams away on offense.... Turnover. Cant turn it over this much when your defense can give up 40 yard plays at the drop of a hat. The defense would be better off playing cover two man the entire game. going athlete for athlete against wyoming, we should win. Instead we try to play some elaborate cover match zone scheme that has gotten thrashed for the last 3 years. The kids arent picking up the scheme!! How many SRs do we have in the secondary again? Yeah... Simple defense is better if it allows your better athletes to PLAY FAST. With that said, I think Pelini is too stubborn to change.

Did ayone notice that the defensive line was sswitching between two gapping and one gapping?

Do you think if we rotated running backs more it would have prevented Burkhead from being injured last year and this year? Shouldnt we use these guys if we arent going to redshirt them?

I really liked that package. I hope we use it as a model going forward. Besides the one big run play they really had no rushing game, and I think the big run play came when Thad Randle was in the game. Either way this needs to be our starting line-up for mobile qbs. Whether or not Thad was in the game had little to do with the long run/score. That was all on Compton by not making a correct read. But, good for Cam and yes keep him inside he is to slow on the edge. I'm a Thad fan, but that was a mighty big hole. Granted I think part of the problem was Santos getting blocked out of the play. Santos cut off and thad overtaken is the reason the hole was so big. Compton was cross reading so not a factor in the play.

We dont start fast, we turn it over, we get out of sync, and we dont play with a sense of urgency. I think many of these factors come down to coaching. Look around the country.

Im willing to talk about any #2 qb. It doesnt just have to be about carnes. Lol. And any #2 running back so that we can spell burkhead from time to time and gain some experience for the younger guys. 284 carries is too many IMO

Would it be at all possible to see how Taylor does this year before we jump off this proverbial cliff? I mean I know it is impossible for a player to improve with experience and consistent coaching and all, but maybe we could just let his play speak??? I don't have a problem with seeing how Taylor Martinez works out. I think you are missing the point. I think you will be great for the first few nonconference games. Aside from UCLA. The real test will be when we get into Big Ten Play. I imagine us finding a way to win nine or 10 games. I know that is a good season. But is it a championship season?

You guys talk about depth charts like it's the end-all be-all. Sometimes college football coaches get it wrong too. I'm not saying that's what's happening in this case I'm just saying that there is that possibility that it could be happening in this case. Could it be we arent getting good quarterbacks because we don't treat the ones that we have good?

I am not a Tim Beck fan. But I am a Bo Pelini fan. Never once did I say that they don't know anything about football. Never once did I say that BC should be the starting quarterback. yes I am aware that I am not at practice every day and the coaching staff is. Moving forward if we don't bring in better quarterbacks that can produce at a higher level we will never be at a championship level.

Everyone keeps making this about brion carnes. I never once said that he is better. I'm just saying with the mediocre effort that we have gotten from the quarterback position that maybe we should look at other options. We are not able to use all of our weapons because we can't throw screen passes of any kind.

I think you all made valid points. I just asked a question. I believe Taylor Martinez was very effective against Kansas State in 2010. Honestly I don't care who is at quarterback. I would just like to see us win games. I would like to see us do better with our personnel. I think we have some really good skill guys. We just have to find ways to get them the ball in space. I would like us to sustain drives. I would like us to be efficient on offense and score 30 points in every game. I would like us to limit turnovers. And I would like to see stronger stats from Taylor Martinez against big 10 defenses.

Ok, i feel a little attacked. Lol. But thats ok. I feel the passion in thos thread. Thats why i am proud to be a husker fan. I just dont know that we have seen enough of brion carnes to say that he is awful. Have you ever seen taylor martinez be awful in a game or make a poor decision? I have a bowl ring, and two conference titles but i think i have been lucky and blessed. GBR!!!
