  1. I think a more relevant point to make (than whether or not fans are disrespected by a shady recording) is that we should no longer have Bo as the face of the program. Nobody likes the closeup camera shots of an angry, out-of-control maniac yelling in some athlete's, or coach's face. Why does that have to be us? It doesn't. It shouldn't.
  2. I dont think Bo is a hypocrite. But sometimes your heart aint in it. I think Bo on some level wouldnt mind leaving Lincoln. And players sometimes give up on a coach, or coaches.
  3. No I want our players to win. Even if that is in spite of their surroundings. Regarding the relevancy of this matchup, it shouldnt be the heroes game it should be the "just for fun" bowl because really what does it matter? The trophy should be like a paper airplane with the fringies still attached or like a stick of gum.
  4. Rick Neuheisel: You want a hell of a quarterback? Hire Rick after he has racked up half the family estate in Vegas, and just turn him loose on the QB's. Youll HAVE a hell of a quarterback!
  5. So you are saying that a young TO couldnt transition from OC to HC today?
  6. I dunno. Rigging awards at football camp to ensure prized recruits win kinda stinks to me. How would you feel if you were one of those kids who worked your tail off at camp and had no chance of winning? That being said a cynical side of me wonders if anyone is clean anymore or if its possible for a place like NE to get the best guys without cheating. The NCAA seems to roll over in the face of litigation and money talks.
  7. No more first time hc, kinda like TO right?
  8. I agrred with the Pelini hire at the time. In 2003 he had taken our 53rd ranked defense to briefly #1 in the nation. That kind of commitment abd result warrants serious consideration. The 2009 defense was one of the best in Husker history. Better than the vaunted Alabama unit and a Gerald McCoy led Sooner unit. However at this point it seems obvious to me that Bo should not be the face of our program.
  9. The cost of attendance will never go down. Only up.
  10. Sorry for the WT% post I just really want to believe our University has better judgement than Penn St. I kinda believe that unless you are old enough to remember back to the 80's and 90's you really dont understand what Nebraska football is about, and its been sooo loooong since ee have been ourselves tge young kids dont even know.
  11. Also if you havent been a football head coach on any level, not to include grade school, you can make all the coaching comments you want but you truly dont understand how difficult and frustrating it is.
  12. I totally disagree with the assertion that we need a pass first quarterback. You don't address a problem recruiting by going after the same type of quarterback that everyone else is going for. We have to reestablish our identity as a slashing power option team with good play action pass to backs and tight ends. We can recruit awesome athletes to fit the roles we need. We need speed. Defensively we are all wrong. This University has thrown away 30 years of power football knowledge and excellence. Sad. Off topic, they are interviewing potential Presidents. My two questions would be if someone came to you with serious allegations of sex abuse in the locker room what would you do? If he or she doesnt immediately say call the cops then seeya. Next question would be how important is a football NC to you? If the answer is anything other than extremely important, with emotion, then seeya.
  13. What has happened to cause the game of football to leave behind Nebraska and Michigan? What similar and undetected factors have lead to the inability of these teams to maintain their 50+ years of previous dominance?
  14. I feel really good about the 2013 recruiting class and I think we are one year away from a hell of a team but should be good this year. If it were me I would be optioning the hell out of things with Armstrong and Gregory is an animal
  15. To the OP: Your grammar needs work, but you're bound to improve.
  16. Give Pelini the players Saban currently has and you would be comparing him to Woody Hayes or Bear Bryant or George Patton.
  17. It does not make me mad because we can beat either one of those teams.
  18. Not that anyone on the team is better. I just really miss Nebraska football. You know what I mean. The kind of football that Barry Alvarez took to Wisconsin. The kind of football where pancakes were counted on Saturdays and not so much at breakfast. The kind of football which brought the Kansas City Chiefs asking how to run the counter-tre. For you young kids that dont remember, there was a time when weekly predictions for game scores were usually Big Red 48 , so and so 21, and that was every week until we played OU. And that was every year I can remember from 1981-1998. Running the ball and option football, are not dead. Its just that our REAL commitment to it is dead.
  19. Some more points: 1 gap defense requires linebacker movement to whatever gap the lineman is not shooting. Second: 1 gap defense can be effective if you have undersized but very active DT, and finally, 1 gap is effective if the other team does a lot of pulling ( guards or tackles.)
  20. There are pluses and minuses to any scheme. For example if you want to see the shortcomings of one gap defense go back and watch Penn St get slashed by NU back in (82?). The trend in those days was that just as the offense runs plays so shall the defense. The problem with this is that while it works awesomely some times, at other times two of your guys are taking themselves out of the play. Papuchis is coaching an NFL style defense and challenging the players to rise up. 2- gap technique is basic fundamental football and used by many successful coaches. I think it never hurts to be situationally aware and sneak a blitz now and then.
  21. On some of these threads when i click on the thread I get an asset webkit error that blows up my phone and I have to exit IE and start all over. Is it something I can fix?
  22. He will never come here as OC... thats pure fantasy. Money is the only real reason to come here for him even as HC. Frankly I would consider coming to NU as a bad career move for him.
  23. To the OP. You can think that we should hire SF and you may be right. But your gonna need LOTS of dough to get him here and its been shown that NU doesnt do business that way. Im talking Saban dough. Bo is what this university needed minus a little bit of the public tirades. That is he is a dogmatic man willing and able to do more with less. The REAL problem here is that Bo doesnt really care anymore. Not like he did in 2003.
  24. I was thinking about this today. I think scott would have to be looking for a reason to move home. I know his folks are in lincoln but i dont know if thats enough. Program wise moving back to nebraska is a big step down from Oregon. Nothing against Nebraska. Phil knights money and nike swag. Recruits. Rabid young fan base. Atmosphere. The espn college gameday producer on SVP this week said Oregon is far and away the best gameday location when was the last time they were even in lincoln.
