  1. Supposedly he has a court appearance this Friday, July 26th. We could know more after that.
  2. Martinez mentioned Carter during interviews at the Big 10 Media Days. If TMart is building rapport with a TE, that TE will probably play.
  3. +1!!!!! The money he would make from his signing bonus would set him up for a long time (his whole life if he is smart). If baseball doesn't work out, he can go back to college and he is the guy in his mid 20's with money in college. I am sure he would have a ton of problems finding chicks.
  4. Hey Rollin Rock, I know you are looking for recommendations, but you can find out how much hotels and other places cost by looking on the interweb. Just try to think of things that you and your wife like to do and places you are interested in checking out. Vacations aren't a waste of time. It's fun to go some place new and get away from your normal life. Also, you can probably talk your wife into a lot of "vacation sex" while on your trip.
  5. Is Frank participating in the All-Greek Olympics?
  6. Barry's has poor service? Brothers has dirty tap lines? Sounds like Jon Taffer needs to make a trip to Lincoln.
  7. 4/10 I am sure you would love to have a "4" like her when you are old enough to have a 21 year old kid.
  8. Most importantly, the mom of this kid is hot!! https://twitter.com/DanceStudio111/status/332933405706702848/photo/1
  9. Yeah, ESPN has that game during prime time for the Purdue fan-base.
  10. I went to a NU-Texas Tech game back in 2005 (fall down LeKevin!!!) and it was an odd, 3:30 kickoff. It was funny, but that extra hour later in the afternoon was awesome. We weren't rushing to get downtown and to our tailgate spot. We just hung out all day, enjoyed plenty of beers/Husker punch, and the weather was absolutely perfect. Plus, the later game time felt like a bit of a night game in the 2nd half. As a kid, almost all the games were 1:30 kickoffs (because only 1 or 2 games would be on TV per year). I remember leaving Omaha mid morning, my parents dropping us off at my grandma's, and then they would head down to the game. I am sure they enjoyed tailgating for a couple hours, while my brothers and I would play football and get ready to listen to the game in the afternoon. Plus, after the game, we would get back to Omaha at a decent time.
  11. I am lucky to make it to Lincoln once a year for a Husker game, but I really like the 2:30 games. I love the tailgating scene in Lincoln, and am usually able to get to our spot 2-3 hours before the game (sometimes earlier). It's great to have a few drinks on a crisp fall morning/early afternoon, watch the early games, and hang out with friends. Plus, with the game over by 6, I can get back to Omaha or wherever I am staying by mid-evening. I am of the age where I don't need to be drinking all day, but I know how some people would love doing that for the night games. Teach and I had an amazing time at the NU-OU game in 2009. We got to Lincoln before noon for a 7 PM kickoff. It was a perfect late fall day, and we were able to hang out at the bars all afternoon. The only thing we messed up on was that we didn't hit the tailgate areas early enough, but it was still a great time.
  12. I love how everyone was complaining about how "hard" NU's schedule was the first 2 years of the Big 10, and now everyone is complaining about the weak schedule this year. I am not calling out anyone specific, but I saw it on Husker message boards all over the interweb.
  13. Here are my guesses for the game times for the NU non-conference schedule. 8/31 vs. Wyoming -- 6 pm on BTN -- since it was so hot during last year's home opener, I can see NU push the BTN to have this game on at night. With Labor Day weekend, I think this would be a no-brainer for everyone involved. 9/7 vs. So Miss -- 11 AM or 2:30 on ESPN/ESPN2 -- I know that the time slots on ESPN change, but with ND-Michigan being a night game on ABC, it would be natural that ESPN would choose this game for the early or mid-afternoon time slot 9/14 vs. UCLA -- 2:30 on ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 -- This game is a lock for regional coverage on ABC, and the reverse mirror on ESPN/ESPN2. See discussion above. 9/21 vs. South Dakota State -- 11 AM on BTN -- The BTN will just want to get this game out of the way early in the day.
  14. Big Ern, you made my point much more succinctly than I did in my post. I just don't get the point of tackle football with full pads and helmets for kids who can barely hold up there head while wearing the helmet. It doesn't make us a nation of ninnies, it makes us smarter individuals who have more information able to make choices in life.
  15. Good points ColradoHusk, and to each their own. Though playing football or any team sport is not just about playing the sport or being good at that sport. I knew I would never play in college but that didn't stop me from playing and learning. It teaches responsibility, coordination, teamwork, etc. There's far more to it than just playing. I run a business and coach other business owners. There are a lot of annalogies between sports and business which I probably woudn't be able to relate to if I hadn't played. I am a huge proponent of team sports. My son currently plays baseball and soccer, and he loves team sports. I have been involved in sports pretty much my whole life. I agree to the points you made above regarding team sports. I just think that youth tackle football is not something that needs to be played.
  16. Article looks familiar...it's the same one I posted originally Haha, my bad.
  17. I am amazed at how young some parents start having their kids play tackle football. Starting at age 7 or 8 (or even 9 or 10) really doesn't develop them to play when they are in high school. Those kids aren't learning any fundamentals or skills that can be carried forward to older ages. I have a 6 year old son, and I won't let him play tackle football until at least the junior high level, and maybe later. Starting "late" won't hurt him any if he decides to play football in high school. If he is a good enough athlete, I am sure the coach will find a spot for him. In all honesty, my kid isn't going to play sports in college. I would rather he have a functional brain and body that he can use throughout his entire life. Here is a pretty interesting article. Yes, it's from Deadspin, but it is relevant to this topic. http://deadspin.com/...roundtable-2012
  18. It'll go to Matt May I think (hopefully so anyway that kid is deserving). That would make the most sense. May is Sr. walk-on who has cracked the 2-deep on is a regular contributor on special teams. The scholly is available for this season, and it would become free to use for next year's recruits.
  19. The 105 fall camp roster and the 85 scholarship limit are two different things. Bo can add a player to the 105 roster at anytime, and yes he was saving a spot for Bubba. So, he can add someone to the camp for the rest of the week, or just wait until next week when school starts. As far as the scholarship that Bubba had, that can be given to a walk-on who is a senior this year, and then it will be free to be used for next year. Who knows what Bo and the rest of the football admin staff will do with that scholly for this year. Also, just because Middleton and Okafor are not on the 105 for camp, it doesn't mean it frees up a scholly, unless those guys are kicked off/asked to leave the team after the season.
  20. One time, I was housesitting for this one guy. A friend of mine stopped by and we went out to the back yard and there was a pool that was all dirty and disgusting. I then opened up a bottle of Schlitz Gay and it turned into the best day ever!!!
  21. Ok, I have one more thing to add. If you are a guy, and you can afford it, go to school some place warm!!!! The girls at UNL are covered under sweaters and sweatshirts from October through March. The only time you will see them in good shape and showing some skin, is in Sept and April.
  22. I wanted to add one more thing. I don't know where the OP is from, he sounded like he is from somewhere in Nebraska. I just thought I would tell him or her that if you are from a small town in Nebraska, don't be intimidated by the "size" of Lincoln or the University. Lincoln is a decent sized city, and has grown a lot since I was there in the mid to late 90s. But, if you are a student, you are going to spend the vast majority of your time on or around campus. In that way, Lincoln seems really "small". If you live on campus, you are going to be walking to all of your classes, studying, intramurals, and most other things you do in the spare time. You will only go off campus to do grocery shopping or to the mall (or maybe work). Downtown Lincoln is an easy walk from most areas of campus, and even if you have to drive, it's not a long drive. I know the campus of UNL may seem "big" with 20-25k students. Yes, you will have large lecture classes as a frosh and sophomore, but, your most important classes in your major are in fairly small classes, where you can get the individual attention (if you really need it). Whether you live in a dorm or in a frat, you will get a circle of friends that you will hang out with and spend a lot of time with. It really isn't that big of an adjustment from high school, no matter where you are from.
  23. I know college isn't for everyone, but if someone would ask me if they should go to college, I would highly recommend it. The college experience goes beyond the education/diploma you receive. Here is what I gained from my college experience --4 years of eduction in something I was interested learning more about and that I use in my work today (business and finance), along with other classes that are kinda fun to attend. I was able to take an acting class, history of rock n roll, and history of American Jazz. --Living 2 years in a frat, and then 2 years in a house near campus with 4 other friends. The frat experience was pretty good. The first year was a blast because we had parties all the time, the house was full of fun people, and there was always someone to hang out with. The 2nd year kinda sucked after the alums kicked out 90% of the actives and we had like 8 pledges. Living off-campus was great because it forced me to buy my own groceries, clean dishes, clean the bathroom, and do other stuff that you need to do "on your own". Plus, we had a great time playing video games, messing with each other, watching college and pro football on the weekends (and doing some gambling), going to the bars when turned 21, and having other friends over to do a bit of partying. --Going to the football games was a blast. It helped that NU won 3 national championships while I was an undergrad (man, it would have sucked to be there during the BC era) and the student section still had very good seats when I was there. When I lived on campus, it was fun to walk through the campus, seeing everyone in red, people just getting so excited for the game. Living off campus meant we had to find someplace to park near the stadium, but we would meet friends at their house, do some grilling out before the games, and getting "primed". --I enjoyed meeting people from all over. I went to high school in Omaha, and maintained a lot of my close friendships from high school into college, but I became friends with guys from all over Nebraska, South Dakota, and one guy from Chicago (with whom I am a close friend with today). I wasn't the most social guy in the world, but you have the opportunity to get to know a lot of different people from different backgrounds in college. --I did meet my wife while I was in college. Although she was going to Nebraska Wesleyan at the time, we were able to share experiences of "going to college" at the same time. I was able to meet another circle of people through her, and she did the same through me. --The final thing I would comment about college is the amazing amount of freedom you have. Yes, there are classes and studying and maybe a part-time job, but I was still able to enjoy an amazing amount of free time to hang out and enjoy life. When I lived on campus, we would always get a few guys to go to the campus rec center to play basketball or throw the football around the Cook Pavillion. On Wednesday nights, we would get a group of people to go bowling and have some beers on "college night". The bars can also be fun to hang out with your friends and scope out some girls. When you are in college, you learn how to balance your time and responsibilities. You have a whole life to work 40-50 hours a week in an office (or wherever you end up working) and have "real responsibilities". College is a great time to enjoy yourself, learn things about yourself, and grow from a kid living with your parents to someone who is a young adult.
