  1. For why I like this idea, look that-a-way: <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
  2. But at least he would have been highly prepared..... And he certainly would've did an excellent job in that area, like he did in every other area.
  3. Great way to catch opposing defenses off-guard. They'd never see it comin'!
  4. Hey don't laugh, that was a pretty big deal for me when I was in college.
  5. That's a good point. Suh was the reason why the D line could successfully get in the other teams' backfields, because he allowed the Pelini bros. to scheme for that. With Suh gone, the line was set up more for containment and to match up with the offensive line so that the linebackers could make tackles.
  6. If the coach of another team had done this we would've never heard about it in the first place.
  7. If Carnes, Turner, or Starling do start, just what are the expectations going to be for them? I mean, Martinez set a number of records for freshman QBs this year, and now he's getting torn apart. It's not like Carnes, Turner or Starling are just going to come in and immediately look like veterans against Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, Iowa... Martinez had a better freshman year than Tommie Frazier and Eric Crouch... We talk about all these recruits, hype them up, hope that they're all going to be the second coming of Turner Gill, and when one actually meets those expectations in his freshman year, he gets thrown under the bus. Unbelievable... In ten years, the Holiday bowl and the Big 12 championship game are going to be footnotes. The history of Nebraska football will read, "2010 saw the introduction of redshirt freshman QB Taylor Martinez, who scored a 46-yard TD on his first carry as a Husker. In his freshman season, he helped lead his team to the Big 12 championship game, and set nearly every school record for freshman QBs even while being slowed by injuries during the second half of the season." If Taylor doesn't become a tremendous college football player, then our coaching staff will not have done its job. Taylor's not a typical QB. But Lavonte David isn't a typical linebacker, nor is Eric Hagg. You get your best athletes on the field, and you exploit their strengths, even if you have to invent a new base defense (or offense) to do so. Their expectations would be huge. That could be said for any starting QB at a division IA school. It comes with the territory. All I'm saying is that we can't know how good these guys are going to be (for better or worse) until we get to see them run our offense in practice. Nobody saw Martinez starting until it happened. Maybe next year somebody shows enough in preseason to make the coaches say that they deserve the starting spot.
  8. Total aside here, but for what it's worth, you guys can thank me for attacking all the moronic Sooner/Longhorn fans until the Fox Sports web staff removed the comments section. If you didn't check the comments before they were all removed, don't worry; you didn't miss anything from those idiots. Well, except the same old, tired jokes about Osborne protecting felons, several Texas fans who are proud as peacocks of their 5-7 Longhorns only because they beat Nebraska, and a lot of personal attacks aimed at me that make "yo mama" jokes look cutting-edge by comparison. Personally, that's what annoys me about this article as much as anything. For anybody who hates the Huskers, this is going to be their running joke for the next 10 years. Maybe 20.
  9. You know, I actually agree with that. He should've never made the comment in the first place. That doesn't excuse Lisa from blowing the issue out of proportion, and giving every idiot Longhorn/Sooner fan in the country an excuse to take more cheap shots at the Huskers. She never even had to say a word about it to Morgan. He simply assumed that Bo never got an opportunity to ask him. She told him because she knew it'd be good fodder for her article. Yeah Lisa, I'm sure you were really concerned about Morgan and his feelings. So glad to know that you cared.
  10. Lisa was offended that Bo didn't answer her question the way she wanted him to, so she decided to round up the White Knight Brigade to make herself feel better. Judging from all the stupid comments from the Oklahoma, Texas, etc. fans who hate the Huskers and couldn't care less about the contents of the article aside from the fact that it attempts to cast Bo in a bad light, she succeeded.
  11. OK and T-Magic performed great against SJSU didnt he.. And he also performed great in ummm being a CRAPTASTIC teamate and leader.. I bought into his hype in games 1 and to and was fooled.. I would not take this cat into any kind of battle i wanted to win.. Cody would be right there in the middle of it busting his ass for you.. T-Magic prob crying on the phone with his DADDY.. Here's the thing: we need a QB who's both a leader AND a talented QB. I'll say again: let's not forget about Carnes, Turner, and Starling if he doesn't go to baseball. If T-Mart could start at QB as a freshman, there's no reason why any of those three couldn't.
  12. It just depends on what he really wants to do more. He sounds like he's pretty committed to football right now. If things don't pan out, he could do what Darin Erstad did.
  13. Despite all the rumors swirling around about where Wats might be going, I fully expect him to be back next season. Not that I want him back next season...
  14. So because Bo only knows how to maintain our defense, we should fire him and risk winding up with a coach who can neither fix our offense nor maintain our defense. Pity that the OP was banned... I had some very choice words regarding his sanity.
  15. How many recruits did we lose when we fired Callahan and Cosgrove?
  16. Having poise and making the right reads are meaningless if you can't actually get the ball to the wide receiver. Cody does NOT have the accuracy to be a consistent quarterback. I don't care how great his footwork is. I don't care how great his attitude is. You have to be accurate to be a good quarterback, and Cody isn't. The point is no one is accurate on this offense, but Cody is the guy that is willing to work his a$$ off to be more accurate next year and he has actually shown promise. I know right now he is not as accurate but my point is who is accurate on this team? answer: no one! We don't know that yet. Next year Carnes, Turner, and (hopefully) Starling will be thrown into the mix. I appreciate Cody's work ethic, but he has a long road from where he is now to where he needs to be if he wants to be a legitimate starting QB for the Huskers. I have no disrepect for Cody and would love to see him become a competitive QB for Nebraska. From what I've seen so far, I have a difficult time believing that in two years (let alone between now and the start of next season) he'll improve as much as he needs to, though.
  17. I don't see how Crouch isn't far-and-away the best on the list. If he'd have even been a career backup QB in the NFL, nobody would be downplaying the fact that he won the Heisman. Maybe there were more deserving candidates than him, but c'mon, the other Husker QBs within the past decade didn't even get a sniff of the Heisman. Deserved or not, Eric won it.
  18. Having poise and making the right reads are meaningless if you can't actually get the ball to the wide receiver. Cody does NOT have the accuracy to be a consistent quarterback. 19. 1. Eric Crouch - Truly exciting to watch. Wish he could've made it in the NFL. 2. Zac Taylor - I remember being very frustrated with him during the Oklahoma game his senior year, but overall I'd say his career was a good one. 3. Joe Ganz - Almost interchangeable with Zac. Wasn't elite by any means, but he did what he could with what he had. 4. Zac Lee - Quite frankly, I hate ranking Zac II this high, but considering his company, it's probably where he belongs. Showed promise early in the season last year, but was inconsistent in terms of accuracy and, at times, decision making. 5. Taylor Martinez - Provided some excitement early in the season, but couldn't do it consistently like Crouch did. Showed a little promise as a passer but is extremely raw in that department. 6. Sam Keller - Would've been decent if he made better decisions. 7. Jammal Lord - Had the athletic ability, but probably should've never been a QB. 8. Cody Green - Definitely not what we thought/hoped he would be. Just doesn't have the accuracy to be a consistent QB. 9. Joe Dailey - Thankfully, I've purged most of my memories of that era of Husker football from my memory, so I don't have much of a comment about Dailey. Maybe he was asked to do too much, maybe he just couldn't do anything either way. I can't remember and don't much want to.
  20. Are you willfully ignoring the stats or do you just not know them? Martinez was a Heisman trophy candidate for 1/3 of the season. He was even getting buzz until the Missouri game when he got injured. His Freshman stats are comparable to Tommie Frazier's Senior stats. On what planet do you think he's "done and done?" That's crazy talk. Who exactly did Taylor put up those numbers against? I truly wanted to believe that Taylor wasn't just the flash-in-the-pan that Zac Lee, Joe Dailey, Jammal Lord, et al. were. Trouble is, playing against below-average talent tends to make average talent look above-average. Right now, Taylor only has the speed, and now that he's dealing with ankle issues, I'm not so sure that he even has that in the same magnitude that he had it in the early part of the season. MAYBE he has potential as a passer if he learns what to do with the ball when he doesn't have a WR who has 10 yards of separation and/or lacks the time to find an open read, but from what I've seen thus far he's a one-trick pony, and that one trick (the zone read) is dead.
  21. We've recruited the "necessary talent". Then we failed to properly coach them.
  22. I've seen some improvement, but not enough to say that I'd like our chances if Cody was the starter for the next two years.
