  1. I've been trying to learn up on you Huskers in every way I can and I'd like you guys to help me get a feel for how you guys think you will do next year playing against Big Ten teams. Do you guys think you match up pretty well and immediately make a splash and contend to make a run at the Big Ten title in the tourney at the end of the season or do you all foresee yourselves struggling and dwelling closer to the bottom. Looking forward to knowing my new brethren better!
  2. April 16th Thanks, what's going to be you biggest storylines that you all are going to be keeping an eye on? I.e: Your secondary/Defensive Backfield?
  3. Hopefully the first game they show is one where that "Tom Frazier" guy goes all Willy Nilly. Heard he was pretty "decent" for you folks
  4. When is the Spring Game for you fellas? (I'm being lazy and probably missed it elsewhere)
  5. Not gonna lie, those are all epic! Good stuff guys!
  6. Just try to avoid getting urinated on. Seems to happen more often than they'd like to admit
  7. www.scarletbuckeye.com My personal favorite. Been on it for several years now. Not quite as popular as others but definitely tons of high quality info comes through there.
  8. Do you guys play with a round ball instead? Is the field longer/shorter? Can you not use the forward pass? 12 men on the field for each team? The only brand that is changing is the Big10 brand...logo and all. Football is football. Round ball? Like shooty hoops? No no no don't be silly, we still use the pigskin but it's still squeals when you carry it. Of course can use the forward pass! You just have to explain it to the other team first since they may not be sure why it's flying above their heads. Yes football is football but I guess I should have said style instead of brand but we all know that the Big Ten gets poked fun at for being more of a power running conference which isn't exactly unfounded. If your defense is really the top defense in the Big Ten in just it's first year of going through the new opponents then I'll be quite surprised but on paper then absolutely I put them in the top 2-3 spots and IMO those are quite interchangable
  9. Yeah, whatever. We were saying that a decade ago. Except we reloaded and captured a couple more MNCs. Not just top-10 finishes. Which BCS game did you win the national championship in again? I forgot. And I suppose you’re going to brag about tOSU’s only BCS title win? The 2002 MNC where the refs gave you the game on that bogus pass interference play? Ha ha! What a joke. I absolutely hate Miami. But even I had to admit they got jobbed in that game. As for your other so-called national championships, the list has some HIGHLY suspect entries. Like 1970. tOSU fans claim a national title that year, and yet you lost the Rose Bowl. Please explain to me how that works. You lose your bowl game and yet win the MNC?? Face it. The last legit title you won was in 1968. So really--except for the 2002 MNC handed to you by the refs or 1970 where you lost the bowl but won the MNC--tOSU hasn’t done much in about half a century. He started the trash talking. I was just mentioning, if he was going to trash talk, he should at least be remotely accurate, because a decade ago, we were already in the BCS era. And you're right. It wasn't passing interference. It was defensive holding or illegal hands to the face. End result? Exact same result as a PI penalty. Either way, how convenient you neglect to remember the obvious passing interference that wasn't called that even allowed Miami to go into overtime to begin with. And a blown out of bounds call on Michael Jenkins who was clearly in the field of play that lead to the end of regulation. Get it right and the game ends and tOSU wins. Not to mention that Miami had 4 cracks at getting it into the endzone in the 2nd overtime and failed each time. This isn't a debate on NC games but a discussion on NU having one of the top defenses in the Big Ten this upcoming season. I believe they'll be at the top however we won't know for sure until the games are played and were we all stand at this point next year. Right now is pure speculation seeing as how most of these teams haven't played each other in years or even at all. NU's defense is going to have to adapt to a whole different brand of football this year and we'll see how things shake up after the first 3 conference games are over with and we can truly assess how good this defense is in this conference
  10. Yeah, whatever. We were saying that a decade ago. Except we reloaded and captured a couple more MNCs. Not just top-10 finishes. Nothing wrong with that nor is there anything wrong with consistently finishing in the top 10. That's exactly what coqui and I are getting at. We are consistent. Just because we lose a ton of starters doesn't mean that we are going to see a significant drop off.
  11. 2010 - Ohio State ranked 5th in scoring defense 2009 - Ohio State ranked 5th in scoring defense 2008 - Ohio State ranked 6th in scoring defense 2007 - Ohio State ranked 1st in scoring defense (This was the season we lost a large amount of people on defense) 2006 - Ohio State ranked 5th in scoring defense 2005 - Ohio State ranked 5th in scoring defense Yes there's a dropoff when you lose people, but the good defensive teams pick up right where they left off after a couple of games. Also a lot of our backups received playtime this season due to injuries. Just to add to coqui, we have our mantra that Ohio State doesn't rebuild, we reload.
  12. This thread just turned epic.
  13. How many of you have the Big Ten network already?
  14. Wisky is a TOUGH TOUGH place to play. Especially at night and if it's a close game, you'll get no help in the 4th quarter, that's when their stadium gets extra rambuncious. To get a win their, you'll really want to make it easier for yourselves by getting up on them early. Having OSU come to your place early and having the tat5 coming off suspension will benefit you pretty well so that game is a toss up. If you lose any of the "2nd tier" games it'll strictly be to Iowa. PSU won't have improved that much and their stadium is identical to Wisky's unless you get up on them which I see the cornhuskers doing. Iowa has a hell of a gunslinger in Vanderburg(sp?). He did work when he took over for an injured Ricky Stanzi two seasons ago and I can only imagine how much better he's gotten now. 3rd tier, you'll run the table, unless m*ch*g*n really improved THAT much
  15. Prevailing wisdom has always been under five years. It's no secret that Missouri wants out. It's no secret that A&M is tired of Texas' shenanigans. Kansas has a marketable basketball program and Oklahoma has a marketable athletic program in several sports. If Texas decides to go independent (which they could likely afford with frequent BCS trips and this network), the conference will implode. Funny thing about that, though - Texas will NOT want to pay the exit fee for leaving the Big XII, so look for them to splinter the conference first. This deal, long in the making, could be yet another wedge in the stump. Before it was made official with Nebraska, there was WIDE talk of Mizzou joining the Big Ten. Maybe they join us when the Big 12 falls apart. I'm sure we are still going to pursue making it a even number amount of teams in the conference so it probably wouldn't just stop with Mizz, possibly ND or OU could join too since there was a bit of speculation of them joining too
  16. Over/Under on how long the B12 lasts now?
  17. lol and we are very happy to kick their asses to meet you in the CCG.
  18. Leaders and Legends to stay... http://ncaafootball.fanhouse.com/2011/01/13/big-ten-to-keep-divison-names/
  19. Very valid points and I agree with you on them all however I just can't ever underestimate Wisky. They are a very curious team sometimes and you just never know how bruised up they'll leave you. I guess we'll see how they cope with the losses after the season starts, then i'll determine how "worried" I should be of them. P.S. LOL! @ the pic. That is all kinds of hilarious!
  20. If that truly is the case then i'm very excited to start posting here and learning more about my new big ten brethren. If you guys want to learn up about Ohio State feel free to visit www.ScarletBuckeye.com, that's where I came from and we have links to message boards for every other team in the Big Ten.
  21. Pryor and the other 4 will be back. 2 days left and still no signs of waivering in their commitment to coming back. Wisconsin may have lost a RB but they have a power back that has little to no drop off in talent from and a change of pace back that will outrun a gassed defense after getting pounded out by the power back. The QB never really had that big a role in their offense except NOT screwing up and being able to sell the play action. I'm pretty confident they'll hire an o-coord that stays true to their brand of football so I wouldn't expect too much variation from the line it up and pound it down the throat style of football they love but I could be wrong. MSU, eh if you get the good version of that team then it'll be a nice fight between both teams unless you can't stop their run game. If you get the not so good version of them then expect to route them fairly easily unless you hand them the game in a bread basket.
  22. Oh how the Five-cier days bring back such fond memories. It's a shame you guys won't have the pleasure of beating up on him if he goes the JUCO route.
  23. Amen, we've been ranting about this since the Big Ten started its own network. ESPN has NOT taken too kindly to that
