  1. We differ there, I see him as an every down back. He wouldn't be productive in our spread formations, but Beck has a very multiple offense, and I could see Cross becoming the every-down back if he was needed.... So he would hamper our ability to be multiple? Not an every down back it would appear Logic always manages too escape you doesn't it..... By multiple, I meant that Beck has a very, very unique offensive system, where he has incorporated a number of different styles of football (power, spread, etc.) into one single system. You are allowed, maybe too your surprise, too be multiple within one brand/style of football (again----power, spread, etc.).... Now, would Cross work in the spread? Well, it wouldn't be ideal. However, he would be able too be used in a number of ways out of our power sets (See: Leveon Bell).... I wasn't aware (by your logic) that being a running back that is tailor-made too a certain style of football means that you can't be an every down back... ------Defying your logic----------> Adrian Peterson, Frank Gore, Lacey(Bama kid), Bell, Ron Dayne, the list could literally go on, and on.... Becks offense is multiple. However a power back limits our options as it pertains to formations. How many of the guys you mentioned have Imani's skill set? The closest being Bell IMHO. Maybe a little bit of Dayne. Crazy how they were not in multiple offenses like ours. The others you mentioned are every down backs because that is what they are. Peterson and Gore are stellar RB that could easily play in a multiple offense like ours. I am saying he is not an every down back in OUR offense. Which you agreed with by saying he isn't suited for our spread formations! But please continue with personal attacks instead of what is in this thread. You suggested that a back that isn't "multiple" couldn't be a every-down back.... And you're wrong....again.... I should point out, that I wasn't suggesting Cross too be our best option, but if need be, I think he could be our every-down back while doing it in a productive manner....
  2. In his defense, that is a really good level....
  3. I think Delaney is too much too go with moves such as GT or Virgina... But, I thought that before the Rutgers, and Maryland moves.... Well apparently Virginia already has an offer and Big Ten is in talks with UNC and Georgia Tech but both GT & UNC are holding off until seeing how the Maryland/ACC lawsuit plays out which seems to be in Marylands favor. We seem to want UNC more but getting them to leave Duke may be the deal breaker there. That is why GT and Virginia are a much more likely scenario. I just don't get the Virgina/GT moves..... Even the UNC one is odd.... Give me L'ville, and Kansas....

  8. Do you think Bo, as competitive as he is, let them have one of his best recruits? Come on man I do not think he did but he is a stubborn and paranoid man by all accounts Yes, but not too the point of stupidity....
  9. We do, and we have the entire Bo era.... This past season we used 4 different RB's about as well as you can use four guys.... Rarely (if ever) do teams split the carries between 3+ backs evenly, and that is why Heard missed on some carries. When you have backs like Rex, and Ameer where do you use a Heard? It is hard too take talent like that (Rex/Ameer) off of the field! This was going too be his year, so if he is leaving for playing time, then it just doesn't make sense.... We are deep at the position, and I've seen some people on Twitter (Sipple and Harvey) point out that they think Newby might have been the backup anyways....Good luck too him, and GBR! You call what we did splitting carries? 20+ for Abdullah and a few scraps for the other two isn't splitting carries Abdullah--- 226 carries Burkhead--- 98 Cross ---- 55 Heard -----52 And don't forget, we have a talented running QB Martinez --- 195 carries So, yes, that is pretty good balance when splitting carries between 5 players like we did. 5 players over 50 carries? That is splitting carries!! You can't have four #1 running backs..... Your best back gets the most carries, and with Burkhead out, Ameer was out best option.... Ameer got so many carries due to Rex being hurt. Take him out of the equation for practically all the season. When your 2nd string RB has the best YPC he might need to have the ball a few more times then 5 at best a game We'll leave those decisions too Bo/Beck/Brown.... Not a self-proclaimed "insider" or "recruiting guru"....
  10. So our staff lacks the ability to keep 4 star talent on campus and is so terrible at roster management they wanted to move our 2nd string RB to WR after moving him from CB? The kid should leave as the staff is wasting his college career Says Hedley.....

  13. How could you possibly come too that conclusion? A few guys went too the same High School, so they choose all of the same paths in life? I wonder what else they do together? I bet Marlowe is looking into his eligibility status, maybe he can go play somewhere else too!

  15. Don't know if this was a reference to my post, but in case it was, I didn't mean that he wouldn't have a large role. Quite the opposite, both literally and figuratively. His role as the big back will be huge and extremely vital to have, since as it stands he is just about the only player on the roster who can play that role at a high level. The big bruiser role adds tangible value to our speedster-laden offense in providing that change of pace. My argument was that under Tim Beck, the offense will likely never primarily run out of formations that use him. Just making a prediction that he won't usually get more than 40-50% of carries in a game on a consistent basis (not including QB carries), barring drastic attrition at the RB position. Not a knock on the kid at all, it's a product of circumstances that are mostly out of his control, which are genetic limitations (sounds ironic to say given his beastly frame). He could do well as an every-down back, especially in a pro-style offense, but as long as Tim Beck runs the offense he does, and based on most of the formations I've seen that Tim Beck likes to run, I don't think it's too much of a stretch to predict that our other backs are going to be ahead in the pecking order for most plays and have more packages/plays designed to feature them. We're moving towards plays that are conducive to getting smaller and shiftier backs in space, But we will by no means as a program abandon altogether our use of big bruiser backs, Imani will likely produce some good highlights over his career. I know we love all our RB's and dream up scenarios where we have 3-4 100 yard rushers in a game consistently, but it's unrealistic. With one ball and so many good players, it's inevitable that some people are going to end up getting a lesser or greater workload than others. And my guess is that Imani is going to be one of those RB's that will get a lesser workload compared to the others, but by no means does that make his contributions less valuable. There will be games (like Iowa last year, and Michigan) where Cross will get 20-25 carries.... I see him having a consistent impact throughout the games....
  16. Leveon Bell is a good comparison, but I think that Cross could develop Bell's speed.... Bell isn't very fast at all, and as was pointed out earlier, for the first 10 yards, Cross is pretty quick; In the first 10 yards is where you beat your opponent....
  17. Anyone that believes Cross won't have a large role in our O over the next 3 years wasnt paying attention....
  18. Singleton, and Gerry are still N, so.....relax....

You're silly if you like them more than McWilson...

Who knows if McWilson would have been a bust? Sucks he decommitted, but I am definitely not going to say he was going superior. No one knows, but who says he would be better than Singelton or Gerry? Safety isn't an easy position under Bo.

Besides, rumor has it, Charles Jackson could very well be moved to Safety as well, if this is true, I feel pretty good we are safe. TJ and Bo know how to run a GREAT secondary. Thats the least of our worries IMO.

  19. It is understandable when a kid goes too another comparable university because it might be better for him, but it seems this kid took the easy way out.... In the end, it isnt a huge deal, we get 4* talent regularly so let the kid go....

  21. I agree, it is a special year for recruiting throughout our immediate surroundings, however, I think it is important for the coaches too continue to pursue talent in Florida, Texas, and California....Most years, that is where we will make our hay.... ----Also, how did Calvin Strong do? Was looking too find out more on this guys potential (I live out of state)....
  22. Looks like a good TE.... Glad we got him....
  23. I absolutely love this about Pelini.... As a coach, he has had his struggles, but with statements like that it shows that he oozes confidence....
