  1. IMO. Get Okafor to commit and the damn will break.... I like the makings of our recruiting class & and transfers. We just need to sign a couple of bigs.
  2. Disappointing, but it's only opening weekend. Keep at it Huskers.
  3. No live stream that I can find. Good ol' radio broadcast is there though.
  4. Shields played a whale of a game. Gallegos? Not so much. It's going to help next year to bring in more & bigger ball handlers. NEED size. We got pushed around & they rebounded over the top of us. Funny how they swallow those whistles for the ranked B1G teams & call it so lopsided. It's disgusting. I think Miles & team are getting the most out of the situation.
  5. I think it's going to come down to how next year progresses in college football. USC is becoming a third/fourth option in the pac12 for some players. Obviously the flavor of the week is UCLA and ND does well on getting elite talent from CA. These are definitely players Nebraska will come after. Serra's coach loves Nebraska and likes how they handled Brown's recruiting. (Brown was an elite talent but transferred from different schools and tape was delayed. Caused many to lose interest but Nebraska stuck with him and Serra's staff fell in love with NU.) Nice info.
  6. I can understand this. It makes sense. Pitchford can be our starting center but he would make a better starting PF. Have Atewe start at Center and bring in another big juco body to compete at center. That would give us pretty solid 2 deep with lots of great competition at the wings. C Atewe, Juco, Serge PF Pitchford, Rivers or Petteway Wing Petteway or Shields or Fuller Wing Gallegos, Petteway or Hawkins PG Biggs, Webster, Parker
  7. Rats. Was hoping for a split here after we lost yesterday. Well they have a chance to salvage a win tomorrow.
  8. IMO it's just not the guy reaching out, it's about the guy being a good salesman & personable. Steele is a good recruiter with lots of connections who has been all over. He knows what it takes. He knows talent. I liked what he did here at Nebraska. I think Zook is similar I mentioned Spielman's name just because I think he would be a good Lb coach and has a name in Ohio so I think there would be a lot of open doors for him. Els would be the guy that would be leading the recruiting team. Spielman would be coaching & do actual recruiting. I have no idea if he could coach or not. Don't even know if he has any experience. I just think he would be good at it. I agree that Spielman probably would never coach at Nebraska, and I have NO idea what the new positions would entail but this is a message board and has little to do with reality. Just shooting bullcrap around the ol' watercooler, waiting for the spring game.
  9. The idea of moving Els to Head recruiter is an interesting thought in that you could bring in Doug Coleman as a LB coach. Coleman has good recruiting ties on the East Coast, which should be more open to us with the B1G expansion. Or maybe Chris Spielman, he would have some pull in Ohio. what indication do you have that Chris spielman would want to coach football at Nebraska Absolutely none. I just think he knows his football. As far as recruiting jobs I think Jeff Simms would be a good choice although I doubt it happens. The Steele hire by Alabama was tops. He would of been my first pick. I like the Zook idea.
  10. Looks like a natural & well coached. Easily turns opens those hips in his back pedal to change directions. Plays the ball & man well. Reminds me of Ralph Brown.
  11. ahh i can always look forward to the day when this is not the case...... hopefully in my lifetime The landscape of college football changes so often, goes through spurts. The eighties belonged top Miami, the nineties belonged to us. USC was pretty dominant in the early 2000's. It'll happen, the sec will be dethroned along with alabama, in good time Agree it always runs in cycles.
  12. There are some positives I thought for a first game. The defense was solid...no errors. They didn't walk a lot of guys. Offense was okay. Negatives they hit too many batters and had 2 wild pitches. Two games today, I hope we get a split than win Sunday. That would give us a plus in our RPI then. Hope our starters give us some nice innings today.
  13. Interesting. Sure seems like a promotion to me. Please note he also got a nice raise. He will officially do some of the game planning, scout work, in game adjustments. This is lessening Beck's load and leveraging Cotton's experience as OC and run game background. I think it makes sense. If Cotton is having trouble relating to kids or teaching technique then this move lessens that. Everyone should be happy.
  14. Ah. That makes sense. Thanks for tracking this down!
  15. I wouldn't walk across the street to watch an MMA bout if someone gave me the tickets for free. Just don't find it entertaining. Wrestling is a great sport it's just not a casual spectator sport. Wrestling is probably in the top 3 physically demanding sports along with Cycling and Triathlelons. I am not totally sure I understand this as MMA has wrestling in it?

  17. They need to add more size otherwise they will end up in a position like last night.
  18. How do they weight neutral sites in a tourney type series? (It can get gray as some neutral sites are more neutral than others....)
  19. Sounds like our version of Kildow..late inning runner. Backup OF
  20. Gangwish moved to DE and has practiced with the 3 deep. They're putting weight on him now and he will be a factor next year. I know in practice our O-Line struggles to block him pretty severely. He's a hybrid type with an attitude. I didn't know they moved him. Thanks for the info! It really was a decision he made based on opinions from, believe it or not, offensive coaches. They struggle to block him in practice and he has some absolutely sick pass rushes. They suggested it to him and he made the move. I've seen him make every one of our linemen look silly in practice. Hope he gets the chance. Nice!!! With Gangwish, Brown and Gregory we could really bring some heat. Through in a big push up the middle with Valentine..... we could be really good. I can't wait for the spring game.
