  1. I also think that Bo is probably averaging a few scholarships less because he is awarding some to deserving walkon's. My guess is that he has more contributing walkon's than B.C did.
  2. The one thing I would not do as an upper classmen who is transferring as a pro-style QB and that is to go to a program that's rebuilding. KU ranks towards the bottom in sacks given up and total offense. They are going to get beat up. What are they thinking? Just my opinion.
  3. Some good thoughts Turn2. Christensen to OF would certainly shake things up. I know I have read that may happen. As you say that would allow Kash to be 1st base and Farmer to 3rd. I would like to see Darby be DH if Christensen goes to the OF. Of Burleson & Stock I think Stock may be the better defensive catcher and Burleson more valuable at the plate as a switch hitter. As you say they could rotate the DH&Catching positions. Sure want to see Darby bat though. The young Christensen is a very good hitter but he's not the fastest guy on the base pads. I think he might be a good choice to pinch hit and then have Kildow or Cooper pinch run for him. Sanguenitti impressed me immensely and I think he is going to be the best all around player on the team. He did a great job at 2nd in fall ball and that would be my preferred spot for him, but my dilemma is what to do with Peters. Since he has lots of experience at 2nd I kept him there. Peters probably could do a great job at 3rd but then I would want to put Farmer at 1st as I thought he did well there last year. Kash certainly deserves playing time in the field but I hate to throw away experience..... It will be interesting to see how it works out. Vogt as a possible closer sounds like a good idea to me as well.
  4. Looks to me like Coach Erstad has his roster set for spring 2012. Some tough decisions had to be made. I am looking forward to a fun season. I think they will be pretty scrappy on offense. It will be very interesting to see what the new coach can do with the pitching staff. Should have solid depth. Defensively I would like to see Christensen at one of the corners. Kelly at SS will give us more range. We may have to suffer through a few errors to begin with, but other than that should be solid, although catcher can be an adventure sometimes depending who they go with. Wonder when Headley will be back for SS? I haven't seen him play so I don't know what to think there. Maybe have him redshirt if he is still healing. Would like to see Urban,Fish, Stovall, Mossey and Headley redshirt. 1) Pritchard (lf) 2) Peters (2nd) 3) Sanguinetti (cf) 4) Kash (DH) 5) Farmer (1st) 6) Darby (rf) 7) Christensen (3rd) 8) Burleson/Stock rotation. Stucky in rotation on weekdays. 9) Kelly (SS) Pinch runner - Kildow Pinch Hitters - Kiser, Christensen Subs - OF Cooper & Schieffert & Kildow IF - Kiser, Kash Pitchers & game rotations? 1) Spitznogle,Vogt,King 2) Lemke,Pierce,Hirsch,Williams 3) Keller,Hander,Bublitz,Bummer Closer Niederkin (I don't think he's targeted as a closer but I think he would be a good closer. Throws strikes, tenacious and gets grounders. Fields his position well. Has good baseball smarts) Weekdays Huber,Christensen, bummer,Kubat
  5. I expect Els would be a logical choice for Special teams and I think Cotton would be a good recruiting coordinator.
  6. Enjoying the broadcast of the Central Michigan vs Nebraska game. Good job by Larry and Andy. Appreciate that NET broadcasted these 2 games.
  7. I would be thrilled to get Larry Johnson. (Much more than the Iowa coach) I wonder if they would offer him as CO-DC/DL with JP as the other CO-DC
  8. Link shows who the Iowa guy is recruiting fwiw http://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/viewcoach.asp?coach=1991&sport=1&year=2012
  9. These could be possible reasons why he would make a lateral move. 1) Iowa's DC resigned. So leaving gives him a choice as to who he will work with. 2) Pelini is known as a great defensive coach. Chance to build knowledge. 3) Nebraska has a great rep. 4) Similar to 2. Taking more than 1 job is good for career growth. He is a guy that recruits Florida so that would be nice for the Huskers.
  10. Newcombe *might* have been shiftier. Maybe But not faster than Crouch. And there's no way Newcombe was as tough as Crouch. Eric took a LOT of punishment his last couple of years. The guy had amazing durability. I definitely agree that Crouch was much tougher and durable. Made him a great player. I think their top end speed was the same as they both ran official 10.4's in the 100. I think Crouch had a better burst while Bobby had smooth acceleration. I think Bobby would of been a much better passer.
  11. Personally I think Bobby would of been better if he hadn't blown out he knee.
  12. Excellent! I think he is a very very good player.
  13. Enjoyed the broadcast of the game. Fantastic job by Andy
  14. Maybe Bo just wants to announce it to his team right before the bowl game to give them a charge into the game.
  15. I think 2 Ga's are the limit. I wonder if Mike Minter has already been a GA? Stai could become a GA too.
  16. Returning for next year: Diaz, Nieman, Ubel, Rivers, Moore, Gallegos, Talley,Hilliard, Almeida = 9 Signees = Coleman, Farho,Young, Shields,Parker = 5. So that's 14 if Almeida redshirts and everyone returns and all 5 recruits qualify and make it to campus. If someone doesn't make it or leaves then it all works out fine, but if they don't then WHAT? Force Niemann to take a medical? Tell AA he has to pay his own way the last year if they are over the limit??
  17. I wondered about that. I wonder if Stai will do the GA thing now? Could also be they petitioned the NCAA and that this is temporary. Hard to say. Just have to wait.
  18. Pretty fair assessment really. I doubt Nebraska will do much damage with the pass. USC is the #2 Pass Defense in the country (only Bama is better) and number 5 in the country when it comes to getting interceptions. (133 ypg and 18 INTS). While NU is #104 in national passing with just over 160 ypg. Granted NU isn't really geared toward the pass anyhow but come on, your top WR has only 4 TD's and just barely 400 yards on the season. USC won't get lit up at all. That's why I find the predictions you guys are making to be kind of laughable. Here are some numbers you all have predicted through the air that I find unlikely: 200 - NUance 185 - NebraskaDrumline 210 - huskered17 210 - kansas husker 190 - Hammerhead 210 - Mavric 190 - Wolverineslappy NU will need to lean on the run to win this game and fortunately for them USC is weaker in this area. (but still not bad, 45th nationally) Not a fair assessment as they were specifically addressing the WR group not the passing game as a whole. The WR corp has speed in Bell, Reed and Turner. They can more than challenge their DB's. South Carolina's DB's are benefactors of a good pash rush, so it's the QB and front 5 that need to step up for this game. I expect them to help out the QB and OL by calling lots of run, quick passes/screens, but South Carolina's DB's better stay awake because somewhere in there they will play action.
  19. Ala Roy Williams. SJB would be a load back there bringing the wood. I would think if the staff felt he would be good enough in coverage as a CB, I would think he would be able to cover as a safety. With the loss of Cassidy, we will really need someone to step up. I don't think coverage is the issue, it's more about making calls and having good instincts that would need to be answered. If he can do that I think he would be better at safety than at CB due to his size.
  20. I think Ball is a better running back, but I would say Rex is a better football player. In other words Ball is a heisman type and Rex is a MVP type. So pick your poison. You need both kinds on your team. Wilson was their MVP while Tmart is probably our heisman type.
  21. Wow. Too add onto this. A bowl show group also laughed when someone asked about the challenge that Nebr's WR corp will have for So Car DB's. They said what challenge?
  22. Excellent! I was hoping Cooper would be moved to WLB. I don't mind the idea of AA moving to CB. I think he could be successful at either spot. I think SJB didn't look to bad at all at corner in his short time there, but I wonder if he would even be better at free safety. Would like to make Blatchford a WLB as well. Sad to hear rumors of Mitchell not being on the team. He was going to be the next great corner when he got his strength and weight built up. Too bad... Would like to see Pirman at TE. Aaron just needs to keep getting stronger and put on some size and he will see a lot of time. Keep those legs moving.
  23. I agree about the scholarship thing. Doc already has all 13 scholarships filled for next year and AA redshirting puts him over the limit.
  24. +1. Occupies 2 blockers and plugs up the middle. Consistent push up the middle on pass rush. This is an important factor to the defensive scheme that Pelini employees.
