  1. Two thoughts: The Rosebowl won't exactly be a "hostile environment" more of a neutral site. Having said that, Didn't UCLA go into Austin and destroy the Lonhorns basically running right up their cow sphincters? yes, and J. Franklin did most of the running.....some things to think about UCLA has an odd hex over Texas. In 98 I remember they absolutely bayoneted a Texas team that had Ricky Williams on the roster. Granted UCLA was pretty damn good that year, but still. and we've had a hex on UCLA-for the most part, but J. Franklin is a beast.... just saying

  3. at this point "why" is this considered "bad" news?
  4. so what everyone is saying is that the waddinghams at the weird herald, who every chance they get will bag on this program, missed a softball like this? Bo can't stop them from twisting his words into a fabricated story, but with one that is out there and suppose to be true, they're going to hold back? What I can't figure out is, true or not why the silence? I'm not buying its because "Bo" told them to keep it quite.
  5. ok its saturday- where are all the confirmations from the "media"?
  6. as you mentioned, the firing wasn't the problem - it was the hiring that followed. not in any way supporting Pelini's firing - but I hate how people all assume that the next coach would just be another Callahan and we'd be guaranteeing ourselves 5 wins seasons. If that's the case then you'd wouldn't get rid of him if he was winning 7 or 8 games a year either. The reason we ended up with Callahan is that Nobody else wanted to take a job where we just fired a guy that won 9 games even though the previous year he only won 7. Now some think we'd be able to hire a top tier coach if we fired a guy who just won 9 or more games for four straight years? That just isn't a reasonable assumption in the least. That may have been part of it, but the real reasons were that the 2004 roster was terrible (no depth and only had 5 commits at the time of his firing) and the expectations were still there. IMO that was Peterson's biggest mistake was firing Frank a year too early. He should have let Frank complete his failure and stop the bowl streak himself and then there wouldn't' have been a split in the fan base and we could have gotten a better HC in 2005. yeah, but then it would have been harder to have fired Peterson, who has to have been the worst AD we've ever had
  7. That kid wrote the book on disappointment as far as following team rules and actually doing what was required of him to be in good standing with the team. He'll fit in better at USC where they don't require personal responsibility. I doubt the coaches went out on a limb for him to get him a spot. I'm guessing one day the guy looks back a realizes what he pissed away. So what specifically did he do as far as not following the team rules??? Curious to know. he liked to smoke the peace pipe and chase the skirt a little more than focusing on FB........
  8. I said "Passing" Joe was a good QB but I was speaking to pure passing ability- before Lee got hurt,he had an arm that could have had him playing on Sundays- I'm not sure we've had anyone (other than a maybe a few recruits in the callihan dark years) with as much pure passing ability/potential since the 70's We can agree to disagree on this one. Yes, Lee had a strong arm, but Ganz was the much better passer of the two. well Lee never really got to show his arm strength, since most of his career with NU he was hurt- Ganz was an average thrower at best- any scout would be able to tell you that- but ok agree to disagree, even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then
  9. they both suck at passing when healthy Lee was one of the best passing QB's we've had in a while You mean since the previous year when Joe Ganz was the QB?.... 11. After rewatching the bowl game I'd have to say Green outplayed Dennard. That's beyond question. The caveat being he wasn't asked to cover Jeffery as much. But when he did, unlike Dennard, he could actually cover him. He played just as well as Dennard from midseason on. Again, he wasn't asked to cover the other team's #1 as much, but I think QBs tested him more than they did Dennard. It's fair to say he held his own. I have to give him credit for a job well done, and completely turning his season around. thank you
  12. yes "the Cricket" and the Cure along with Phonzie will be great additions for their teams
  13. I'm sure there's a reason for this obsession. But I'll be damned if I can figure it out. If you don't like it, just ignore it. You call way more attention to something by going on about it like this. I could say the exact same thing about the obsessive need of some people to call a grown man they've never met, by a moronic nickname, ........or I could just ignore it-: which I'll do from here on out, since I noticed you're a mod
  14. if we're going to use lame nicknames for ex-players, can someone clarify the correct spelling of said lame nickname? Thank you very little
  15. Well, as soon as he quits dogging it at practice "and" can start remembering what his route is "and" stops dropping easy passes I'm sure Bo will listen to your ultra-keen advice. Who knows? He just might even develop the ability to block someone over 140 lbs. It could happen! So I take it you want him to go back to Texas also? If the coaches keep him on the bench he's next and don't think that isn't a possibility. If that happens we can probably kiss off the state of Texas as far as blue chip recruits go Where in the world does "wanting him to go back to Texas" come from? It just seems to me that it doesn't matter one iota if he's from Texas, Nebraska or Mars. He's gotta earn it. Period. Giving starting positions away because they're from "Texas" or wherever would be a supremely titanic disaster. If that's his attitude, he can follow the route of C. Green, J. Dailey, C. Dukes, etc. that's where he's from and that's probably where (will if we keep jacking him around) he'd go back to- so again you're equating AG and JT into the C Green - Dailey-dukes crowd- all I can say is you're not a very good judge of talent, and neither is Nebraska in the case of AG & JT so you've got that covered I just hope you like all the TD's marlow produces in the "diamond" or any other formation-

  17. We better find something to do with turner besides playing BEHIND inferior talented players who happen to line up correctly. Sort of wonder why Ameer can fumble multiple times and maintain his #2 position and JT makes one bad play in a nothing Minnesota game and gets benched? You think two Texans were talking about that a few times?
  18. a flip a flop and a combooble waggle
  19. Pappy please give me some happy....look, nobody said this was going to be a dixie holiday- at least enjoy that we're currently undefeated
  20. I presume you have a point with this, but it's escaping me. Why should people have to know Fonzie "well enough" to call him that? We give players nicknames all the time. T-Magic. Superman. Touchdown Tommie. I don't see why Dennard should be any different. What am I missing? With the possible exception of Touchdown Tommie, all those "nicknames" are lame ...-but I digress, I wouldn't kangaroo kick a woman in the taco if she wouldn't dance so I'll move along on this one
  21. Do any of you on this board know Mr. Dennard well enough to call him "Fonzie"? BTW if the cop was Ashlon Jeffries, based on what he did to him in the Capital One Bowl, Mr. Dennard would have a good case for police brutality
  22. Can we just agree to stop calling him "Fonzie" That'd be a start to his rehab
  23. Plenty of fantasy in this thread Dennard got beat plenty of times (on the USC hail-mary was one the the worst) even lock down corners get beat
