  1. Have one Northwestern ticket, selling at face value: $43. Got it from a NW season ticket holder. 45 yard line, row 62 just under the upper deck. PM me.
  2. Kain Colter Chris Breezy Rihanna Nebraska against Colter last year I'll let you draw your own conclusions. Post em, if you got em.
  3. I have no idea why this was on twitter today since it is an article from 1990, but I read it anyway. I found it interesting that Coach K had some similarities to Bo in his early career. He wasn't the same Coach K as we see now. Pretty good read, even if it is really old. http://www.nytimes.com/1990/01/24/sports/coach-k-gives-stately-duke-an-undignified-jolt.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm
  4. Just breezing over some more stats again this morning. Here are a few of interest: 1. We currently rank 119th in fumbles/game, averaging 3.0 fumbles a game, fumbling the ball 3.7 times/game at home, and 2.0 times/game on the road. Last season, we fumbled the ball 2.2 times/game. The company we have on the bottom of the list is exceptionally noteworthy, with the likes of football powerhouses in Air Force, Arkansas, Army, Memphis and Maryland. These are they only teams that fumble the ball more than us, with the exception of Air Force, who also averages 3.0 fumbles/game. 2. Our defense is currently ranked 105th in rushing yards allowed, giving up 220.8 yds/game. We average giving up 129.7 yds/game at home, while giving up an average of 357.5 yds/game on the road. Kansas, UAB, Colorado St, Clemson, Wake, Akron, Texas State, Florida Atlantic, Arkansas State, Central Mich, Marshall, Miami, Umass, Hawaii, Miamo (OH), Tulane, Rice, Boston College and Eastern Michigan are all teams worse against the run. 3. Our secondary has played very well this season and it shows. We are ranked 13th in passing yards allowed/game, averaging 177.6 yards/game. Well done Terry Joseph and guys in the secondary! They truly are a bright spot in this defense. 4. When you break our defense down by quarter, here's what you get. We rank 72nd in 1st quarter points allowed, averaging 7.0 points 1st quarter points/game. We rank 109th in 2nd quarter points/game, averaging 12.8. We rank 70th in 3rd quarter points/game, averaging 6.8 3rd quarter points/game. We rank 36th in 4th quarter points/game, allowing an average of 5.2 4th quarter points/game. 5. Here's a fun one, Taylor Martinez is currently tied for 2nd in the nation in total fumbles with 8. He is tied with Trent Steelman (Army) and the leader is Trey Miller (Navy), both of which run an offense predicated on pitching the football. 6. Ameer Abdullah is tied for 18th on that same list with 4 fumbles. 7. We are 116th in the nation in fumbles lost/game, averaging 1.6/game. The company at the bottom is about the same with the likes of Southern Miss, Troy, Hawaii, Navy, S Alabama, UAB, Maryland and TCU. 8. We are currently 96th in giveaways/game, averagine 2.4 giveaways/game. 9. We currently rank 106th in turnover margin/game, with an average turnover margin of -1.2/game. 10. Defensively, we rank 54th in yards/play, averaging 5.3 yards/play. On Saturday, we gave up 7.8 yards/play 11. Our defense currently ranks 76th in 3rd down conversions/game, averaging 6.2/game. I remember 3rd down conversions being a topic of conversation during the offseason, with the likes of Pelini and Compton saying we have to get better on letting our opponents convert 3rd downs. Thus far, we're slightly worse than last year when we averaged 6.0 3rd down conversions/game.
  5. I had a little time this morning and, admittedly, I'm still a little upset about Saturday's loss, so I started looking at some stats during Pelini's tenure. The general consensus among husker fans seems to be that the hallmark of the Pelini regime is self destruction when it really matters. During Pelini's tenure, we have played 19 games against ranked opponents (winning 7 of the contests, 58% of the games) and have turned the ball over 38 times, while our opponents have turned the ball over 21 times. So, over the course of 19 ranked games, we average 2 turnovers/game, while our opponents average 1.1/game. Through contests with those 19 ranked foes, Pelini's Huskers have accrued 164 penalties for 1347 yards, averaging 8.6 penalties/game and 70.9 penalty yards/game and have outgained ranked opponents in penalty yards 14 out of 19 times. Ranked opponents have amassed 106 penalties for 950 yards, averaging 5.6 penalties/game for 50 penalty yards/game. So, in games against ranked foes, Pelini's Huskers have averaged 3 more penalites and almost 21 more penalty yards, while turning the ball over almost twice as much. That's no recipe for success. Nextly, I examined every other game during Pelini's tenure (excluding the 2003 Alamo Bowl, when he was interim coach). In the 41 other games that Pelini has coached, we have turned the ball over 71 times (1.73/game), while opponents have turned it over 72 times (1.76/game). So, in games against unranked opponents, we are only +1 in the turnover margin. IMO, that's unacceptable when you consider the unranked teams that we have played over the last 4 1/2 years: 2008 Western Michigan, MAC, (9-4) San Jose State, WAC, (6-6) New Mexico State, WAC, (3-9) Iowa State, Big XII, (2-10) Baylor, Big XII, (4-8) KU, Big XII, (8-5) KSU, Big XII, (5-7) Colorado, Big XII, (5-7) Clemson, ACC, (7-6) 2009 Florida Atlantic, Sun Belt, (5-7) Arkansas State, Sun Belt, (4-8) Louisiana Lafayette, Sun Belt, (6-6) Texas Tech, Big XII, (9-4) Iowa State, Big XII, (7-6) Baylor, Big XII, (4-8) KU, Big XII, (5-7) KSU, Big XII, (6-6) Colorado, Big XII, (3-9) 2010 Western Kentucky, Sun Belt, (2-10) Idaho, WAC, (6-7) Washington, PAC 12, (7-6) South Dakota State, MVC (FCS), (5-6) KSU, Big XII, (7-6) Texas, Big XII, (5-7) Iowa State, Big XII, (5-7) KU, Big XII, (3-9) Colorado, Big XII, (5-7) Washington, PAC 12, (7-6) 2011 Tennessee Chattanooga, Southern (FCS), (5-6) Fresno St, MWC, (4-9) Washington, PAC 12, (7-6) Wyoming, MWC, (8-5) Ohio State, B1G, (6-7) Minnesota, B1G, (3-9) Northwestern, B1G, (6-7) Iowa, B1G, (7-6) 2012 Southern Miss, Conference USA, (0-5)* UCLA, PAC 12, (4-2)* Arkansas State, Sun Belt, (3-3)* Idaho State, Big Sky (FCS), (1-4)* Wisconsin, B1G, (4-2)* * = records aren't final 23/41 of those unranked teams had/have losing records, while the win pct of the entire group is a pedestrian 44% and we are only +1 in the turnover margin. During the entirety of Pelini's tenure (again, excluding the 03 Alamo Bowl), we're -16 in turnovers. In the 41 games we have played against unranked opponents, NU has accrued 2,401 penalty yards, which averages out to 58.6 penalty yards/game. Conversely, our opponents in the same 41 games accrued 1,844 yards, which averages out to be 45 penalty yards/game. In the 41 contests against unranked foes, NU has amassed more penalty yards than the opponent 27 times (66% of the time) TOTAL Through 60 games at Nebraska, Pelini's Huskers have turned the ball over 109 times (1.82 turnovers/game), while opponents have turned it over 93 times (1.55 turnovers/game) Through 60 games at Nebraska, Pelini's Huskers are -16 in turnover margin Through 60 games at Nebraska, Pelini's Huskers have accrued 3,748 penalty yards, averaging 62.5 penalty yards/game. Through 60 games at Nebraska, Pelini's Huskers are +954 in penalty yards Through 60 games at Nebraska, Pelini's Huskers have amassed more penalty yards than the opponent 41 times(68% of the time)
  6. Rex Burkhead is the best player on our offense, and it's not even close. I think if Rex was healthy this year we beat UCLA, and we beat OSU. Here's to a speedy recover Rex..
  7. We still love you Huskers. Even when it hurts. Like today.
  8. Must really suck to have a college education paid for. #FirstWorldProblems .... not surprisingly, he deleted his twitter account shortly after posting this gem.
  9. 50-year-old Larry Spurling, of Melbeta, is charged with disturbing the peace. According to the arrest affidavit, Spurling's wife called 911 late Sunday and reported he pushed her down during an argument and rubbed a sandwich in her face. http://kneb.com/news/index.php?more=bx8svafk

  11. The spread just came out in favor of Ohio State by 5. The realist in me says that Ohio State is going to cover that spread pretty easily, however, after witnessing that second half performance by the defense, my homerism tells me that we're going to come out on the road, play some inspired, physical football and keep Ohio State's offense in check. Until we prove that we are capable of somewhat containing a mobile QB, I'll take Ohio State to cover.
  12. I heard it from a salt water aquarium guy. Actually - thanks mods, I really missed Rumorville.
  13. You know the drill. Over/Under: Burkhead 125 yards rushing
  14. I guess there are other choices. But not really.
  15. New comet might blaze brighter than the full Moon A new comet has been discovered that is predicted to blaze incredibly brilliantly in the skies during late 2013. With a perihelion passage of less than two million kilometres from the Sun on 28 November 2013, current predictions are of an object that will dazzle the eye at up to magnitude —16. That's far brighter than the full Moon. If predictions hold true then C/2012 S1 will certainly be one of the greatest comets in human history, far outshining the memorable Comet Hale-Bopp of 1997 and very likely to outdo the long-awaited Comet Pan-STARRS (C/2011 L4) which is set to stun in March 2013. The new comet, named C/2012 S1 (ISON) was found by the International Scientific Optical Network (ISON) in Russia on 21 September when astronomers Vitali Nevski and Artyom Novichonok captured it on CCD images taken through a 0.4-metre reflector. Its near-parabolic orbit suggests that it has arrived fresh from the Oort Cloud, a vast zone of icy objects orbiting the Sun, pristine remnants of the formation of the Solar System. C/2012 S1 currently resides in the northwestern corner of Cancer. At magnitude +18 it is too dim to be seen visually but it will be within the reach of experienced amateur astronomers with CCD equipment in the coming months as it brightens. It is expected to reach binocular visibility by late summer 2013 and a naked eye object in early November of that year. Northern hemisphere observers are highly favoured. Following its peak brightness in late November it will remain visible without optical aid until mid-January 2014.
  16. How is his not the most ridiculed throwing motion in the country? See roughly 1:05 in.
  17. Poll options are yes, no, or mexican. Ponies does not count as an answer but is acceptable as commentary.
  18. I guess they figured Meechicken wouldn't be down anymore. So they'd quit while they're ahead.
  19. So I got thinking about it, and I really can't think of any player that has played well enough at the moment to be mentioned as a heisman candidate. Right now, I think my vote is Jarvis Jones, LB from Georgia. At the moment he appears to be the best player in the nation. I also really like the QB from Louisiana-Monroe, Kolton Browning. The kid is pretty damn good and is an awesome competitor. What say you?

  22. I actually don't think the Sooner fans are melting down quite as much as we did, post-UCLA. Still, they are saying some pretty entertaining things on SoonerFans.com: LINK (I know -- I am an ass for finding this humorous.)
  23. Took in the game at Seacrest with a fellow board member who is a very knowledgeable and prominentin g the recruiting forum. That would be speed. Anyhow as most of you know our I would hope, there were a couple off athletes off interest involved. First off it was a great game. We left early but enough was seen. Of course the highlight if the night was Southwest's band stellar performance of songs from the movie Rio at halftime for homecoming. Seriously I am Fan of the fine arts, seriously. First the headliner if the night, Mr. Banderas. Josh is still gimped by his ankle injury. You almost didn't notice though. He ended up with over 200 yards and 2 tds. He'd did this despite looking at 8 or 9 guys in the box. His fullback was interesting as Christian was the guy attempting to plow through the masses. He is a tough runner that usually made the first guy miss. Unfortunately he dropped a game tying td in the final 30 seconds on a wheel route in fourth down. Defensively he was all I had expected and seen before. Great at reading the play. Great at shedding blockers. Good tackler that finishes through the ball carrier. Only a few times did I notice him getting dead feet, missing the tackle, not wrapping up, or over pursuing. This kid if he keeps his head on right has ALL the potential to be special. Christian Lacouture is all man. Wow, what a specimen. He looks college ready. He posted fullback as previously mentioned. He got a couple of carrys but his primary role was to move people for Josh. On defense, he played both end and tackle. I completely swear this kid could be a star at end. He needs to add only a little bit more strength. He is very high motor and plays on special teams as will. Very much a teammate that isn't caught in his own hype. On one play he destroyed the guard across from him so much he took out both the backside guard and tackle that were tyring to pull on the play. again very strong and great speed forhis size. 2014 prospect DJ Foster. WOW. He is a big boy. Very strong. And moves VERY well. The match up that I wanted to see rarely happened. DJ and Christian rarely went up head to head. And when they did,I would say DJ won the majority of those battles. Can pull, pass block, take his man across from him and bury him in the secondary. Well worth the hype. Also played defense and made life miserable between the tackles for Banderas. Now for the lesser known guys, and there are two of them. Dion Washington for Southeast is a great back. His height and size will probably scare many bigger schools away. Scholarship worthy, probably not with NU's loaded backfield, but if he walls on here that is a huge win. Najee Jackson. Give the kid a scholly. In a year with a large number of available scholarships, this kids needs one. Label him an athlete, whatever. He is worth the small risk. Arguably was the best player in the field last night. Keeps a cool had at ask times. Makes people look silly when they try to tackle him. Plus he made i've of the best throws I have seen in a high school game. Across his body, on the run, under duress, all arm strength into a window the size of a 40 inch TV. For a score. Proved to be the game winner as well. Quarterback, receiver either. He its worth it. A winner and a leader. Come January,I will be giddy to ask hell if he has an offer. And I would defend that decision to all the moorings that say it is desperate and dumb. Again great game
  24. 1. Ohio State (3-0) 2. Northwestern (3-0) 3. Nebraska (2-1) 4. Michigan State (2-1) LINK Oh Lee, /From earlier this week. But still good for entertainment value. lol
