Bid Red Report:

Assessing the talent: He’ll be the state of Oklahoma’s biggest high school talent this year. Many offers to come.

Per A Step Ahead: Jim Stefani's Underclassmen Football Recruiting Blog

Owens is probably the top overall prospect in Oklahoma and ranks among the nation’s elite receivers.......Was named Second Team All-State by the Daily Oklahoman as a junior after grabbing 24 passes for 537 yards and 9 TDs…..As a sophomore, he earned All-Muskogee area honors after recording 40catches for over 900 yards and 10 TDs……Plays for a team with a lot of talent, and he’s the most highly regarded of the bunch…….Has been a varsity starter since his freshman season…..He has excellent height, hands, ball skills, speed and athleticism. He plays centerfield for the baseball team and runs the 110-meter hurdles and high jumps and long jumps in track……Solid strength (280+ bench, 450+ squat) helps make him an effective blocker as well as difficult to slow down with the bump-and-run……As of early January, he had offers from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Missouri, Texas Tech, Kansas and Tulsa.

Odds of becoming a Cornhusker: 5% Lots of competition for this five star superstar.

Recent article on this kid here:

http://recruiting.scout.com/2/651854.html

What are we doing at WR? With the talent we have at QB (Lee and Witt last year), now upcoming (with Gabbert) plus the style of offense we play, we need to break down some doors at WR. Sure we got Paul in-state but we need to grab some more talent at WR. It's obvious any big-time WR that comes here is going to play early, be part of a great offense with talent at QB, play for a head coach with NFL-offense mentality, etc.

Have we identified the next key WR for this class? Now that Kemp is off the board who is a top target for us? Gabbert's commitment should be at least worth one big-time WR. Is it unreasonable for us to expect to grab 2 WR's in the top 50? I know we have grabbed some good WR recruits but I'm getting a bit tired of hearing the cream of the crop WR recruits talk about Florida schools, USC, LSU, OU, and UT...
