Huskerfan55
I am sorry we need some guys who can hit and run in the defensive backfield. They all need to go with maybe the exception of Jones. Quote Link to comment
DaveH
So we kick 'em off the team then? Quote Link to comment
Huskerfan55
Honor their scholarships but set them on the bench until one they learn to cover someone and two they learn to hit with some authority. It looks like a love fest when Shanle and Green try to tackle someone and Grixby will ebough has been said about him Quote Link to comment
pigsonthewing
this needs to be addressed, indubitably. The "face-guard" tactics need to go. Our secondary needs to be re-educated about taking better routes to the ball carrier, instead of running along side him, giving the receiver/running back an official escort down the field. It would be a different story if our secondary played with confidence instead of playing like frozen deer in headlights. Quote Link to comment
DaveH
Shanle actually had a pretty good game. Quote Link to comment
coyeote
Shanle actually had a pretty good game. I would agree. Quote Link to comment
Valentine
The secondary has been our handi cap the whole season. I believe that's the difference between 9-4 to 13-0! Someone please call Bowman ! Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
Shanle actually had a pretty good game. I would agree. Nice change from his norm. Did something finally click? Quote Link to comment
Drowning_in_the_Sea_of_Red
Shanle actually had a pretty good game. I would agree. Nice change from his norm. Did something finally click? Maybe he finally realized he is a SENIOR and needed to play like one, plus the fact he's playing for a Conference Championship.....who knows....I was definately surprised. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDFAN_in_OMAHA
The strange thing about Elmo is his first year here he ran a couple players off the team because he was adament the DBs should be 6 foot or taller. Then they go ahead and recruit Grixby in part because he was a 4 star in state player. The other issue is the "face guarding" and having the DBs line up so far off the line. Green did it all of last year when he was at DB. Bowman wasn't near as bad. Point is maybe it is time to bring in someone that can teach better techniques. There may be a reason why Elmo has been a coaching gypsy his whole career. Quote Link to comment
vadernation
Elmo needs to go, Busch needs to stick to special teams only and recruiting, and we need to hire a complete secondary coach - one that is really good at teaching technique and can motivate. I agree with the sentiment that there is a reason a person has 20 jobs in 22 years (or whatever the numbers are) - people don't want to keep him around for very long! I don't think Busch is a very good coach either, but he can recruit like a mother. I think the talent is there to be a decent secondary, but unfortunately they are all sitting on the bench watching Grixby, Shanle, Green, and Jones getting routinely burnt. Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
I just have a hard time understanding why guys like Thenarse aren't in there!!!! What reasoning can they give that is actually concrete!!!! Quote Link to comment
huskerfan17
i wish thenarse would play more. i think he would be better then grixby. jones is still getting there. Quote Link to comment
gamecocks
For the bowl game it would nice to see this lineup. CB- Jones CB-Grixby/Thenarse (rotation) SS-Green FS- Shanle/Culbert (rotation) Quote Link to comment
