Entire Defensive Backfield needs to be replaced

Recommended Posts

this needs to be addressed, indubitably. The "face-guard" tactics need to go. Our secondary needs to be re-educated about taking better routes to the ball carrier, instead of running along side him, giving the receiver/running back an official escort down the field. It would be a different story if our secondary played with confidence instead of playing like frozen deer in headlights.

The strange thing about Elmo is his first year here he ran a couple players off the team because he was adament the DBs should be 6 foot or taller. Then they go ahead and recruit Grixby in part because he was a 4 star in state player.

The other issue is the "face guarding" and having the DBs line up so far off the line. Green did it all of last year when he was at DB. Bowman wasn't near as bad. Point is maybe it is time to bring in someone that can teach better techniques. There may be a reason why Elmo has been a coaching gypsy his whole career.

Elmo needs to go, Busch needs to stick to special teams only and recruiting, and we need to hire a complete secondary coach - one that is really good at teaching technique and can motivate. I agree with the sentiment that there is a reason a person has 20 jobs in 22 years (or whatever the numbers are) - people don't want to keep him around for very long! I don't think Busch is a very good coach either, but he can recruit like a mother. I think the talent is there to be a decent secondary, but unfortunately they are all sitting on the bench watching Grixby, Shanle, Green, and Jones getting routinely burnt.
