Translating Jim Rose to English

Recommended Posts

With Jim Rose being our play-by-play guy, it's 3 hours of trying to figure out what just happened. I'm simplifying it for Husker fans so you can easily know what just happened.

Jim Rose | English

OH DOCTOR! | Huskers did something good

TOUCHDOWWWWWWWWN NEBRASKA! | Huskers scored a touchdown

1st & 10 | 3rd & Long

3rd & Long | Opponent has the ball

Chief Thunderfoot | Our kicker

A-Frain | Adrian Fiala's time to speak

Rose's voice gets higher and higher | The play is getting better and better

"What a scamper by *insert RB name* | Running back just gained 2-3 yards.

"To the 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, goal line Touchdown | Player scored and Rose felt the need to state every last yard he had to go.

"The good guys" | Nebraska

"The guys in the red jerseys, white pants with the red stripes down the side, white helmet with the red stripe down the middle, and the "N" on the side." | Nebraska

"Ol' Grandma on 10th & Vine | Memorial Stadium

"Let's head on down to Matt Davison on the field." | He's trying to figure out what to say

"DPI" | Defensive Pass Interference

"TFL" | Tackle for loss

"H" | Holding

"F" | Flag

"The Big Chalupa" | The football

"And now the Tunnel Walk has started..." | The Tunnel Walk is going to start in 5 minutes

Hope this clarifies what's going on during this season.

ADd to the fact that he also threw in a lot of "abbreviations".......

"1st down due to DPI".....defensive Pass Interference

" Thenarse in there for the TFL".....tackle for loss

This is okay for guys/gals who understand football terminology, and are listening closely to the actions, but maybe for the common fan, this is a little bit "too much"
