What did you all think before the season started???

Recommended Posts

I am curious to know what people's feelings were before the season started. Don't be stupid and say "oh I knew we would be horrible....I hated Callahan from day one.....it was a disaster in the making" I know there are plenty of people out there who had man of optimistic feelings about this year.

No one can deny that NU made a lot of progress last year, sure nothing is perfect but things looked very promising and took a huge step forward.......no doubt about it.

I am also curious as to how everyone on here perceives other teams around to country who have lost games this year. How do you view USC. Preseason #1, BCS bowl and possible championship team, started well and dominated many teams, then thew out a loss to a horrible Stanford team, struggled massively against AZ. Do people think they are horrible and calling for Carroll's resignation? How about South Florida?? Huge turn around for that program and dominant on many fronts. Yet they crap out against Rutgers..who is an alright team but should have been a sure win for USF. Are people saying that team is horrible and awful?

I thought we had a shot at least at the BIG XII title. We were in the top 25, the press and coaches were all talking up the defense and Keller.

I sure hope they aren't calling for Carroll's resignation. He has taken the to the NC. I don't USF is 4 and 4 either.

So in regards to your last paragraph what are beating around the bush about and not coming out and saying?

Honestly? I saw the offense moving the ball well last year, and figured it'd be better this year. I knew people were saying they were a top 15 team, but I had a nagging feeling.

I have always had doubts about cosgrove--and told people that the first year he was here.

Against Nevada, when I saw them take a 10-7 lead I was nervous, and got a little worried that maybe they weren't as good as advertised. But I was willing to put my doubts aside for a couple of games until USC came along.

I honestly can say the way we ended up last year I thought we had a real good shot at playing and winning the Big 12 title. I'd have never thought we'd get this bad so fast. I was a BC supporter until the last few weeks.

As for some of the other teams mentioned...none of them are 4-4. :)

If they don't want Carroll send him here we'll take him......as far as expectations.........it's like the guy who dates a Porn Star....you think your 4 1/2 inches of dangling fury are really making a mark until you watch one of her movies and you realize .............you are'nt sh#t!!!!!!! :bang

10-4. With a significant win, a loss in the XII title game, and a close loss in the bowl game against a strong team.

Not 4-8 or 5-7. However my brother predicted this. He stated that Keller was a goober, and Coz would do what he does best and force the O to wither. He is a Raider fan though, so he is a bit familiar with this turn of events, and Callahans lack of motivational skils.

I figured NU would loose to USC and UT, the first based on talent, the second on it being in Austin and our history with UT.

I thought KU and MU were potential losses, but hoped to get one of those and potentially both to win the Big12 north.

I thought KSU would be tough, but a win at home and CU tough for 3 quarters but a win in Boulder.

Best case 10-2, worst case 8-4.

From here on out

Best case 5-7 if they can pull one out against CU, worst case 4-8 with the worst defense in Division I football.

I was hopeful but not really very optimistic. I have never had much hope that Callahan/Cosgrove could really coach/teach the team.

As for other teams, would never have thought Michigan would have a loss to an unknown team (App State). Thought ISU would do better, and am surprised the Buffs have been resurgent.

I certainly didn't anticipate the current levels of suck.

It seemed that we had every reason to believe things would keep improving. That's why this season has been a big disappointment to say the very f'ing least.

I think the worst thing about this is the fact that everybody outside of Nebraska sees NU administration/fans reacting the way they do and start bringing out words like "entitlement" and "parity" and defiantly talk about how "things will never be the same." f#*k off, whiny little pukes. Believing in your team is part of being a fan, not being spoiled. How do you think Kansas fans react when the basketball team plays like sh#t?

Sorry for the tangent, I just get sick of reading anti-Husker blogs/message boards.

I am not hiding anything or beating around the bush at all. I think we need to accept the fact that we are not a good team this year and it is what it is. I dont need to rehash the obvious reasons or go into further discussion about what they are. I always wonder how many losses, or what does it take for people to bash a team for being bad.

I wish I had answers to why this NU team doesn't gel, isn't getting the job done. I think if you look at all of the games, we had our chances, we had our opportunities. Sure, one good play or touchdown will turn the game around, but it sure as hell helps with morale and drive and momentum. Dropped punt by Swift----game changing momentum right there.....Personal Foul on McKeon.....huge first down and change in momentum instead of stopping their drive depp in TAMU territory, multiple dropped passes or poorly thrown passes to open receivers for first downs---lost momentum and opportunities.....Wide open receivers that were not seen by Keller on numerous occasions that might have gone for 6 everytime....missed opportuniy.

That is just a few from this past game I was at. And there were many of those during other loses as well. Games are won by a total package of offense and defense, but just look at the multiple list of missed oportunities that were not capitalized upon.
