ken norton jr for new dc?

Recommended Posts

no one has mentioned this guy's name. he is the linebackers coach at usc, and I would say that he does a damn fine job. should we offer him his first DC position? thoughts...

Actually, I mentioned him awhile ago in one of the coaching replacement threads to take over for Coz. He coaches LB's at USC...Nebraska DC would be a nice step up for him. He always gets kudos on broadcasts for being a coach players like to play for. If Bo comes in as HC, then Ken would be good candidate to learn under Bo. Maybe could use more experience as a coach but has great NFL and Super Bowl resume. I like him and think he is on the rise. I'd have to think he is eyeing UCLA as well if they drop their coaches...he could maybe be DC there. He played his college years at UCLA.

I have mentioned Norton Jr. in about 5 threads and posts and even tried soliciting responses a couple of times..... I couldn't get anyone to reply...... I am with you all the way..... I think this guy would be a great DC, based on his experience with Pete Carroll, his NFL experience and "name"......carries cout with recruiting.....has been a winnereverywhere he has been.....

Since you mentioned this I'll bring up another name. How about Ronnie Lott? (assuming he wants to be a coach). Ronnie loved NU football and actually said on the radio before the USC game that if NU had recruited him out of high school he probably would have played here instead of USC. Guy is a HUGE Johnny Rodgers fan.

He'd be a hell of a secondary coach.

I know I responded to you once.

Hard to say how Norton would do as DC since he has no experience at the position. But may be worth a shot.
