Blow out and the whole stall can start packing as soon as they get back to Lincoln. Actually any loss. Win and maybe we keep one or two of the staff but I think Call's gone irregardless. Cos can start packing right now. Even in the win over KSU the "D" still pretty much stunk. ...T_O_B Quote Link to comment
timberghost
I think T.O. has his mind made up already. The gentleman in him is letting Cally stay till after Colorado. Quote Link to comment
HuskerExpat
The CU game is not a make or break game for the coaches. It will play a part in the evaluation, but not significantly more than any other game. If TO is thinking about keeping Callahan for another year, then the CU game will probably have an affect on whether TO forces out Cosgrove. If the defense plays very well, then Cosgrove could survive... Quote Link to comment
Hunter94
i don't think coz survives in any way shape or form, even if the boys pitched a shutout against CU. he just can't coach. Quote Link to comment
HuskerMatt
I think Cos. will be gone. We just never realy had a team orented defence. we had the talent, it is clicking just to late in the season. Whatever TO decides, you know it will be for the best of the program. He dosen't take them lightly Quote Link to comment
Captain K
TO is painstakingly evaluating these coaches on several criteria. Interviewing past and present players and people in the athletic department. It is not like one football game is going to be enough to improve BC's W-L record, let alone all the other areas in which he'll be judged. Quote Link to comment
REDSTEEL
I hope Osborne does'nt change his opinion just because BC might have beat two teams (That most likely would not even make it to a bowl game) at the end of the year. If you look back on the schedule none of those wins were against very good teams and a few were close to being a loss. Then look at the losses and all but one was a blowout and 3 of those were at home. Quote Link to comment

You are presuming that he has already formed an opinion. Yeah, I think he is going to make a coaching change too, but Osborne has steadfastly said all along that he has not made up his mind, and he will evaluate the coaches at the end of the season. admo
so if CU blows us out, what will be the effect on season ending coaching changes? A presser on Monday to announce the termination of Cally. It will be up to the new coach to assemble a staff. I think it will be done in a calm way by TO, addressing a lot of positives about Cally and so forth. on the other hand if we win, does anyone think that would save at least Cally's job? HELL TO THE NO! The hiring of TO as interim AD mid season was to alert the obvious, that changes would happen after the season. Quote Link to comment
ironmike
If we win convincingly, I think there is a 15-20% chance that Cally is retained with a new defensive staff. Anything less and he is gone for sure. Quote Link to comment

I hope they take their things with 'em and after it's over TO just sends 'em packing w/out even going back to the camp. "Coz and Billy....the tribe has spoken..." and then TO snuffs out their torches. Quote Link to comment
fatirishhusker
I don't see any possible outcome to the CU game that could result in Callahan staying, unless all other potential head coach candidates are so shocked to see us win in Boulder that they all die of heart attacks. Anything less and he is gone for sure. I see what you are saying. Let me throw something out there... The defense scores 2 TDs, causes fumbles, sacks, interceptions, great field position, etc, and carries the team to a 31-7 victory. Still thinking keep Cally and get a new DCoordinator? In this scenario, a punt return also goes to the house for a 50 yd score, while the offense puts up one touchdown and a field goal. The game is won convincingly. In a different scenario, the offense scores four TDs, a FG, and win 31-7. I personally would be happy with either scenario, however it would not fuzzy up my thinking. When the season is over, it's over and done. Either 6-6 or 5-7, bring in a new coaching staff and let's move on. Quote Link to comment
