Just got back from Boulder and....

There are bad fans everywhere and some of our fans have not behaved in a respectable manner in these trying times , but to ever compare the bahavior of CU fans to NU fans is comical. As far as i know the Husker student section has never been ejected from a game and nobody in Lincoln has been hit with a D battery or a urine filled water balloon.

Not that they didn't try, though. Unlike some CU students who threw some water bottles at an uninhabited patch of grass, some NU students took it upon themselves to throw bottles at A PERSON (Brandon Drumm) after he scored in Lincoln in 2002.

Don't even try to look down your nose at CU for fan behavior, not anymore. Not after this year. Find a story for me about a CU fan threatening the life of a CU coach, or one about CU fans booing the children of our head coach, THEN you can go ahead and say whatever you want.

This is the first game I have missed in almost 10 years. I have read your earlier post of denial about the piss poor CU fan behavior a few years ago...you are in denial. Bad CU fan behavior happens. Where do you sit during the games? I have had great experiences with the older "mature" crowd tailgating and in the stadium but your student section......cant say enough bad things. F' you's to little old ladys, F' You's in my face while just walking to the bathroom. Need I go on to the far worse? Yes, we have piss poor fans also....just not as many.

I would have a bit more respect for you if you would just acknowlege you would open your eyes next time you were at the stadium instead of total denial. BeachBuff at least posts an opinion in a respectful manner. Are you a student??

Look, I'm not trying to make an argument that NU fans aren't classy, I'm simply defending my school from being called classless. Something that I'm extremely tired of hearing from Husker fans and something that is entirely unwarranted.

What irks me to the nth degree is that whenever you hear about a Husker fan doing something horrible people say "oh, well every fan base has a couple bad fans" before going back to worshipping the Husker faithful.

On the other hand, when a CU fan does something horrible everyone immediately chimes in with this "yup, their whole fan base is garbage. Decent human beings are in the minority in Boulder, everyone's always drunk and raping eachother" BS, and I'm entirely tired of it.

If you want to look down on other fan bases now, you're gonna have to figure out how to do it when staring up from the ground, because after all the nonsense that some of your fans have pulled this year, you guys no longer have a leg to stand on when it comes to condemning bad fan behavior.

It isnt just Husker fans that have had terrible experiences with CU fans Skippy. Arizona State fans even complained about the classless CU fans that traveled to Tempe earlier in the season. Have you people no shame? Act like creeps at an away game? Unbelievable!

Thank you for the toned down response. However, please read other boards....its not just NU fan talking about bad CU fan behavior. My best friend is a CU alum...I am from Nebraska....thus we attend most games. He will admit it is hard to admit the fan behavior from the CU students is not great and has recommended we leave early to avoid conflict at games in Bouder. Actually, he got kicked out of a bar a few years ago because he defended some NU fans who the bartender would not server after the game.

I have been on the CU boards a few time hoping to have some great conversation but have found most to be hostile. I hope you and BeachBuff stick around so we can talk football. There is no reason for trash talk. All I ever ask is to try and see things in anothers perspective. Lets talk football. I hope you make a bowl game as it can only be good for the Big XII.

You're right, this is an overstatement. Usually they are only stoned and raping each other.

This certainly doesn't surprise me. What else would you expect from the residents of Boulder? It is the same thing every year it is just not NU fans that notice it. That cesspool of a city is made up of a population of classless jerks, liberals and drug addicts (hard to tell them apart though). Actually, I surprised you found two CU fans to back you up. Apparently, you found the only two people in the entire state that have any integrity. At least they didn't have to stop the game this year to throw out about 1/4 crowd like they did 2 years ago when it was remarked on national TV this was one of the most embarrassing events in the history college athletics.

I was wondering how long it would take for the "We got waxed, so let's bitch about the students" thread to pop up. Of course when I saw who the author was I realised the fantasy that would spew forth. Asshats abound regardless of school affiliation. If there had really been any incidents then ABC would have broadcasted them for they too were on the look out for them, but either one of two things happened today, either the students received Hawk's message loud and clear or it was too damned cold to do anything. I think it was a blend of both, but consider the author of this thread and what kind of fan he is. He stated after the OSU game that he was too ashamed to wear his Husker gear anymore. Now I too was pretty dissapointed after last year's Montana State debacle but I never turned in my colors, I took my lumps like a man, so what does that say about how one's fans conduct themselves? Like I said, there are asshats everywhere.

I was up at the game today, and I have to say the fans weren't as bad as in previous years. However, I did sit in the NU section. All in all, it was pretty fun, until after half time.

I dont know how an entire stadium can get away with chanting fu*k em' up, f*k em' up, GO CU!

Classless fans

Huh? I dont think we've met. I havent posted here until today in about 3 weeks or so. I was also in Boulder to see your student section get ejected from the game in 2005 and we waxed you a bit harder then you waxed us today. Face it. Your fans are bad beyond comparison. It isnt just Husker fans that feel this way about CU fans. I just thank god one of the kids sitting around me today was not my own , because I would have gone to jail today. It was completely unacceptable. Do you have any children or young nephews or neices Beach? Would you not find that behavior offensive and confront them if it were your kids?

I was not so lucky to be in the Husker section. I saw the worst of it.

You would never hear a cheer like that in Lincoln , not even in the student section let alone the majority of the fans. Classless and gutless.

When getting non-adults and some non-mature adults together in a relatively small place, there's going to be some seedy behavior. I wont even go to an NFL game because I cant put up with a bunch of loaded "adults" who seem to think that an NFL game is the same as a being in a WWE arena, or worse yet, in a WWE ring. I have heard a lot of bad stuff about CU fans versus what I've heard of NU fans. Part of the reason, that NU fans have the respect we do is because there really hasnt been much to be upset about prior to the Cally era. If the program continues to slide, we may not continue to earn the "classiest fans" mantra. But I would say that this mantra wasnt necessary gotten via the students, but by the overall fan base. Also, any ASU fan bashing a CU fan needs to look in the mirror. The worst I've ever been treated at a game was the '96 Disaster in the Desert. I've never been to Folsom, but I cant beleive that they're any less classy then the fans at ASU.

And just because one good post deserves another, here's an account from a CU fan about NU fan behavior today:

Three asshats were standing during play in the early 4th qtr w/CU up 16 points- they refused to sit when asked and simply flipped off anybody and everybody around them. They were being reals pricks.

A CU fan came up and put his hand on one of their backs and one of the NU fans made a fist and faked that he was going to punch him in the face-

The guy sitting next to my dad saw enough and bolted down the aisle - in no time at all he came back up w/a Boulder police officer-

NU fan refused to sit and the Boulder police motioned him to come and he was escorted out of our section"

They were asked to sit? WTF? Is this memorial stadium?
