Husker Runner
If you don't like Paul Johnson, you don't understand football. Period. He won two Division 1-AA titles at Georgia Southern. Jim Tressel won some Division 1-AA titles, too...gee, see if that hire worked out for Ohio State. Well, Johnson out-coached Tressel when they played head-to-head. Navy doesn't have a player on the team who runs any faster than a 4.6 40, yet Johnson has them near the top in NCAA team rushing. How many 300 pound linemen do you think Navy gets? You want a winner at the Division 1-A level? Then hire a guy who proved he can win at the Division 1-AA level. Tressel. Kelly. Johnson. You want a guy who can win National Championships? Then hire a guy who has won them. Do you care about the system or do you care about wins? If you want to win, you hire Paul Johnson. "Recipe for failure?" The man has won everywhere he's been, and he'll win at whatever BCS school has the balls to hire him. He can flat-out coach. Michigan ought to be doing whatever they can to get him. Jim Tressel would tremble in fear at the thought of his old nemesis ending up at Michigan. Johnson would not only be a good choice for the Huskers, he may very well be the best choice. He is arguably the most brilliant tactician in college football. Quote Link to comment

Something Callahan failed to do. Quote Link to comment
indianahusker
Teams who were rebuilding many times in the 70's and 80's went to the wishbone option attack because of the way it is run. I don't know the technical side of why, but many did it (ISU is one that comes to mind). It seems as though it went away from that in the 90's with rebuilding teams trying to air it out a lot, flooding the field with recievers, etc. (like the run n' shoot). Now it seems to be the "pro offenses" like the WCO, Power I, and even the spread (but they seem to throw it more). I don't know what the answer is, but anything can work if it's coached properly. I prefer the spread option, but that's just me... Quote Link to comment

But never mind the national championships, the coach of the year awards, and the fact that he has the 10th best career winning percentage of active coaches even though most of his career has been spent at Navy of all places. huskerjack23 says Paul Johnson sucks. And really, who would know better? :-) Doesn't matter anyway, it looks like Bo is the man. Quote Link to comment
DaveH
I really don't want to have that kind of offense back at NU. I am heavily in favor of a more balanced offense. Whether that be a WCO variety or a spread variety. Quote Link to comment
Husker Runner
Navy's Johnson not commenting on Nebraska job Associated Press - November 27, 2007 2:35 PM ET LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Navy football coach Paul Johnson didn't say yes or no today when asked whether he's been contacted by Nebraska. He just said no comment. Johnson says he isn't answering any questions about other jobs this week. He says that's because his focus is on Saturday's annual showdown with Army. Johnson's name has been linked to the Nebraska coaching job in media reports. Citing an unidentified source, the Sporting News reports today that Wake Forest Jim Grobe has spoken informally with Nebraska interim athletic director Tom Osborne. The Lincoln Journal Star, citing an unidentified source, reports Bo Pelini has been interviewed but has not received an offer from Nebraska. The other known candidate is Buffalo coach Turner Gill. http://www.nebraska.tv/Global/story.asp?S=...p;nav=menu605_4 Johnson may be more likely to end up at Georgia Tech, though...
