Husker_Power
The chief executive officer of the Tribune Company says he won't hesitate to sell the naming rights to Wrigley Field -- even if baseball purists don't like the idea. During an interview on CNBC, Sam Zell says despite Wrigley Field being known worldwide, he didn't get a discount because he wasn't going to use the naming rights that the field represents. Zell said he plans to sell the Cubs and Wrigley separately and in his own time frame. He also disclosed that Major League Baseball has approved "four or six" potential ownership groups and that any one of them would be fine. The sale of the team has been delayed by Zell's plan to sell the team and the stadium separately, and to have a state agency acquire and renovate Wrigley. Link Quote Link to comment

Dhuskers
I don't like the idea of Husker fans feuding over this, but who cares...Cubs suck! Eh, I guess anybody could have a bad century right? Completely Useless By September (or Spring for that matter) Quote Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
but who cares... The Cubs set an attendance record last year. Millions and millions of fans care including this one. It would be a complete tragedy to sell the name rights to a baseball shrine like Wrigley. This greedy exec obviously doesnt know squat. The Cubs arent hurting for money. Win or lose they will ALWAYS get theirs. Leave it alone Sam. PLEASE! Quote Link to comment
BIGREDIOWAN
I find it amusing that people actually hate the Cubs!? How can you hate the Cubs??? They've never won anything to be hated soooo much. Quote Link to comment

admo
That's crazy. I hated it when the Texas Rangers stadium changed from "The Ballpark in Arlington" to "Ameriquest Field in Arlington". Fortunately Ameriquest started to fall into financial troubles, and the Rangers worked out a deal. It's now called "Rangers Ballpark in Arlington" and Ameriquest keeps their $2.5 million per year. As for Chicago, it would suck if they get rid of Wrigley or make it "Google's Wrigley Field" or "Microsoft at Wrigley"..... Quote Link to comment
Apathy
Is this Chief Executive name Steve Pederson????? Quote Link to comment
HuskerExpat
They won't change the name, but as has been reported, Wrigley Field is already a corporate name.... Quote Link to comment

DJR313
I wonder if they will change it to Mars/Berkshire Park after the Wrigley acquisition goes through. Quote Link to comment
General Blackshirt
I find it amusing that people actually hate the Cubs!? How can you hate the Cubs???
