glm09
It is shocking to look at next year's offensive line and realize: We will have only 1 senior on the entire roster (exception Andy Christensen if he returns, then we will have 2) The only Senior will be Center Jacob Hickman. I would imagine the starting line up would include: LT - Mike Smith (JR next year) LG - Keith Williams / Ricky Henry (both JRs next year) C - Jacob Hickman (Sr - back up will be RS SO Mike Caputo) RG - D.J. Jones/ Ricky Henry (Jones - SO next year, Henry JR) RT - Marcel Jones / Javario Burkes (Jones - SO next year, Burkes JR) Average size: 6'3"ish, 305ish Also, the DL will feature only 2 Seniors on the 1 or 2 deeps: Turner and Suh. Great for 2010, right? What about 2011, 2012? Recruits have to know this as well. Recruits for 2010 will be behind a lot of talent for a number of years. Thankfully we have Rodriguez signed already...he will probably one day be our foundation. We better hope for huge DL and OL recruits in 2011 and 2012 who will be ready to play early. (Four verbaled OLs and another verbal could be a C.). 3 DLs thus far, 2 of which are definite studs. Still looking for 1 or 2 more guys. Redshirt 'em if depth allows in 2009 and those guys will be ready to take over (or may have already taken over given skill-level attrition etc.) Since 2010 is a small class, I'd expect only a 1-2 more OLs than Rodriguez for 2010. (Only 2 known offers.) Also probably would like a stud DT for 2010 as well. 2010 will probably have a disproportionate number on WRs (hopefully) and then proportionate numbers at other positions. Enhance
The other thing to realize is that because winter conditioning has started, you can expect each linemen to add 10-15 pounds of muscle by August and optimistically, maybe even the Spring Game. Hopefully our line will be much more powerful and dominant with that extra muscle. And does anybody know, Ricky Henry is a junior right now but he redshirted, so does this mean he only has one more year of eligibility left or two if he becomes a 5th year senior? He was a 2 in 3 guy so he is now a RJr. with 2 to play still. Quote Link to comment
