EZ-E
my question is NU brought in quite a few good players but didn't address teh poor wr corps or qb or rb depth, the skill players needed to upgrad a bad offensive unit? Any more on the horizen? THIS WAS GOING TO BE A DEFENSE HEAVY YEAR FROM THE BEGINNING BECAUSE OF THE IN-BALANCE OF SCHOLARSHIP PLAYERS CALLAHAN LEFT ON THE OFFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL. I have said that many times. All of you know how our QB situation worked out. We got a RB in Heard, got a WR in Enunwa also got 3 OL to add to the 4 quality ones that we got in last years class. We arent in bad shape at all on the offensive side numbers and players wise. We only graduate 2 WRs that didnt have that big of an impact this year in Holt and Brooks; we have two returning QBs with playing experience; we have three returning RBs with playing experience two of which were major contributors; Only one we lose on the OL is Hickman, everybody else is coming back plus you add in the 4 guys that we recruited last year to that mix and our OL is deep. The offense isnt in bad shape recruiting wise. I expect a much more balanced year next year in terms of recruiting. The mistakes Callahan made with that are starting to funnel themselves out. MadcatNU
Doesn't leaning heavily on defense in this recruiting class mean there will be similar imbalance the other way in 4 years? Quote Link to comment
zoogs
So...the answer to that is to make it MORE imbalanced in favor of the offense? There's nothing wrong with a scholarship imbalance after the end of a season. We're losing more scholarship players on the D than we are on the O, that's all. Some years we'll lose more guys from the O than the D. Every year the focus of recruiting will change to address needs. It's not like those needs are constant. Don't know how Callahan could be blamed for it, or how the fact that it is going to be uneven before we patch it up via recruiting is a bad thing. Quote Link to comment
