JTrain
From a Hawkeye fan lurking at the Ark. St. board: Iowa's defense is head and shoulders above Nebraska. That doesn't mean you can't or won't move the ball, but they are much better. There are 5-6 players who will likely play in the NFL and two juniors that we are just hoping stay for their senior year. Be sure and look for #19 Spievey - probably the best lockdown CB in the Big Ten. Quote Link to comment

SaturnDrew
The assessment may not be too far off. Even if it was, I don't see what the big deal is. It's not like they are on this board trolling away. Quote Link to comment
Fuzzy
Sounds like they really have their heads up their butt after beating Penn State. The fans don't remember their season opener, huh? Quote Link to comment

junior4949
How? Is Penn State better than VT? Could Northern Iowa or Iowa State win the Sun Belt? Quote Link to comment
RockyMountainOySker
I definitely don't agree but I thought Iowa looked great the other day. I was so happy when Iowa b/c all it means is that none of us have to watch a Big Ten team play in the BCS championship game! Yay for Iowa. Quote Link to comment

Point: Iowa has played one FCS team and some of the worst quarterbacks in FBS (Arnaud, Scott, Clark), and suddenly they think their defense is the Steel Curtain. Can't wait until they play something resembling a proficient offense. Now, if Missouri scores 30+ on us, and Iowa smothers Forcier & Co., I'll concede the point. But I don't see it happening that way. Quote Link to comment

And Iowa barely squeeked by with a Win (17-16). ASU is ranked 102nd in Total Offense. ISU is 51st and Penn St is 56th. FAU is 49th. Ark St is 72nd. VT is 79th and ULL is 91st Quote Link to comment
JTrain
So, a lot of Iowa fans are pretty proud of the fact that their opponents are undefeated outside the losses to Iowa. Here are the 12 wins they've managed, sorted by Sagarin ranking: Oregon St. 45 Central Michigan 57 Syracuse 95 Temple 109 Akron 121 Kent St. 126 Army 132 Northern Arizona 135 North Dakota St. 153 South Dakota 161 Missouri St. 168 Saint Francis 225 That's right, no teams in the top 40, and three teams in the top 100. These 12 teams also combine for a total of 0 points in the AP and Coaches Poll. Quote Link to comment
