Watson

Maybe this is beating a dead horse... I'm not going to go through 30 threads about what went wrong. If I remember right, during Billy C's last year we forced Watson to call plays from the sidelines....It seemed to me he felt more of the gamefow from there.. why don't we make him do it again? dedhoarse

actually, great question!!

seems like he should be in the fire whilst his top assistant is giving him feedback on plays and formations--maybe get a grasp on what his players are saying about matchups and possibilities face to face instead of second hand through head phones and position coaches...

every Coordinator I had in college was on the sideline while the assistants were up in the booth...

instead of being a Chess master from a comfy seat, he could get sweat levels and blood from the Gladiators on the field? Seems trivial? NOT

nah, lets just fire him instead

:clap

Might as well start an offensive cord thread to start scouting the prospects..

Btw can we buck Cotton off this train too? The first 5 weeks I was pissed as hell about the O-Line penalties.. they fixed those this week- bjut their shittiness was transfered to the rest of the offense. :bang

Bo rakes Cotton over the coals....I don't think Watson wants to be down there around Bo when he is in the heat of the moment. Granted...Bo can yell into the headset, but Watson can flat take off his head set in the booth. He won't be able to get away from Coach Pelini on the sidelines.

:yeah

I'm not as ready as you guys are to bury Watson. His play calling is mind boggling at times, but we moved the ball pretty consistantly today, but it's hard to score when you got a QB who can't read defenses, WR's who can't catch and RB's who can't hang on to the ball.

At this point we need to try anything to get the offense rolling - so yeah put Watson on the sideline. Its so frustrating b/c with the defense we have the rest of our games are winnable - but not if our offense plays like they've been playing. Yeah try anything & everything if it could help get this offense rolling.

Uh, it definitely wasn't the K-State game when Watson went to the sideline. It was the Texas A&M game and it didn't help a thing.

Here's some comments from back when he was at Colorado

"I started last year on the sideline, but I wasn't comfortable. I like to see the structure of the defense from above, to see the opposition's game plan."

Thanks for the research. I stand corrected.
