Don't Tell This Guy To "Sit Down"

Ok Skersfan, I can see what you're saying. They may want to stand but their physical condition just won't allow it. However, you said "as long as they consider others". How about the people sitting consider others? You said the person in front of you can stand, "if you don't want to". What if someone told you you can cheer, but only when they want to? It's the same principal. They aren't the only ones that want to see or cheer at the games. They want to sit, others want to stand so who wins? The older person? Why? I'm all for respecting my elders but I do not think that they should be able to tell people to sit down at a damn football game. It's also one thing if some idiot is just standing up yelling f bombs all over the place in front of a kid, it's a whole other thing if someone is standing the whole game, and just yelling to make noise without swearing. Nobody, regardless of who else is at the game should be told to sit down in that case. Your last statement made me feel for your great grandpa, bc I can see myself being one of those people who will probably break a hip cheering on the skers.

yes Bo, it causes everyone to have to stand or not be able to see the game. Some have little kids, others are older and some are women that do not want to stand the whole game.

 

Like I said, I have never had a problem with it one way or the other.

I wonder if this is the guy by the OU band area. I remember sometime during the game my dad was watching the game thru his binnoculars and somehow saw a fight right by the OU band and police escorting a guy with a tasor pointed to his back.

 

I asked my dad if it was between an OU fan and a Husker fan and he said no it was between two Husker fans.

I'm pretty sure I witnessed him being taken from the stands. West stadium.....about section 23.....down real close like the 5 row. I saw the security guard jumping on his back to take him down.....big boy.

i actually hate standing for the whole game. i wish the students would sit when we were on offense, no reason to make noise during that time any way.

 

don't get me wrong, i'll be up and loud when we are on D regardless.

Some day my young lads you will be there, trust me. And you are die hard Husker fans, and you will go to the game for as long as you possibly can. Imagine 40 years from now when you have supported the Huskers every week end, buying season tickest for years and years, sending in money for the program. Your there with your granddaughter and she can not see because some ass, drunk out of his mind yelling curse words because you asked him politely to set so they could see the game.

 

It will happen, it always does. The seats are there for a reason. You do not stand at a movie when you are excited, you do not stand when you are with your wife or girlfriend in bed and are excited, I would assume. You do not have to be standing to support our Huskers. I stand every single game, but I consider others, some on here need to learn that lesson. As you will all be faced with it someday. Yours is not the only correct way.

 

Like your mother and father taught you growing up. Respect your elders, or at least that is the way I was raised in Nebraska.

 

If it was your grandparents behind you would you stand and block their view. Would you tell them to get their old asses out of the seat and go home? Would you use your special words on them. Just curious.

I would be surprised if any of us here are talking about standing all game outside the student section or not taking anyone else into consideration. But let me tell you what you can do with that self-righteous brush of yours...

I have done as you suggested. I have quit going to the games I love because I am so old that I can't see over the standers.

 

My suggestion would fix that. You could get seats in an area that did not allow standing at all.

Could that be the most of the stands because there are so many Old goats, who BTW have done more for the Husker nation than all of you rude "standers" can claim to have done.

Once again, I have yet to see a single person in here advocate standing all the time outside the student section or even be inconsiderate to those around them. I think there are some elders in here making lots of assumptions. But yeah, it's the youth that's always in the wrong...right? lol

I'm waiting for the fan to get arrested and taken to detox for cheering too loud!!!!

NO punching someone shouldn't be allowed and rightfully he should be and i'm sure will be prosecuted for that. But this is America, and Nebraska Football. Not soccer in the Soviet. Next you'll get papers to appear in court because the person you sat next too now has rining in there ears because you yelled at the game. or they pulled there ham when they had to stand up 45 times during the game because you stood up in front of them. give me a break, throw the ones out that cause trouble. But to say a personal can't stand and cheer is a joke. put a section in of sitting only if that's the case. But I think 3/4 of the stadium stood most of that game saturday anyway.

Let me put it to ya this way sonny.....If ya break wind in church, everyone there will smell the results of the fart. If ya stand up in front of anyone, anywhere, that person behind you is blocked from seeing unless they too stand. The discussion by me is only intended to explain that we live in community that many years ago was much more polite than it is now. When I was a young guy like you, I would have swallowed my tongue before I would have disrespected those older than me for fear that I would get very soundly punished for that disrespect. I think we liked our older family folks more then too.

I can also tell you (and others who have told us "old Farts" to stay home) that if you are lucky enough to get to my age....then you will be much more understanding of what it is like to be both young and old.

I will add, that if one time during the game someone behind me would of said they couldn't stand or even asked that i sit, i would of just moved over or went to the isle. out of respect. (but that's a choice) but when it becomes a rule that you can no longer sit or cheer, then it's not respect, it's a rule.
