rawhide
www.collegefootballnews.com/2005/Predictions/Big_Game_Picks_Preseason_2.htm This pub has Pitt over NU because of their qb, receivers and run D. Quote Link to comment
HSKRNOKC
If you look back to last year. They were very sluggish out of the gate. When we played them early . IMO I think it was to our benifit. Hopefully this year will produce the same results as last. Quote Link to comment
skersfan
They will be favored at our house I would guess. This is a good team that has improved since last year. The question is will all buy into Wanstadt? They could have some of the same problems that this program had last year. If we struggle with Wake Forest, they will be favored by over 7. No matter the Husker glasses vision, we have a very tough schedule this year. Pittsburgh, if undefeated when they hit Memorial Stadium will be a top 15 team, I would guess. We need to worry more about Wake Forest than Pitt. If we overlook them we will be in real trouble. I think if either have a good day and we are not on top of our game we could lose both. Just to much inexperience on our team to take anyone with the talent these two teams have lightly. Rawhide, Went to Californian's for Nebraska picnic yesterday. Not much of a turn out. You should have gone. Then there might have been 25. A long drive to Dana Point that I will not be making again I would guess. Traffic was hell, over 2.5 hours for a 78 mile drive. When was the last time we were 7 point dogs at home? Were we to Texas in 02? Quote Link to comment
skersfan
Remember we went 5-6 last year. Pitts is a BCS team from last year that is highly rated. Expected to play for the Big East title. If we struggle with Wake and I think we will, we will be at least 7 points down. Quote Link to comment

If we struggle with Wake and I think we will, we will be at least 7 points down. They were a BCS team because the Big East still has that going for them. They were not good last year and probably are overrated this year. We still beat them at their place last year so I just don't think they will be favored by that much(if at all). They really didn't beat anybody last year and what did they finish 7-5? Quote Link to comment
huskerdavo
yeah keep that in mind we beat them with the "worst team" in the last 30yrs and now we bring them to lincoln with a top 5 recruiting class and no dailey...also a defensive line that has more depth than the gulf of mexico...their Qb will be spending alot of time on the two-tone turf our non-conf schedule is a cake walk.... worry about the conf games please Quote Link to comment
Pedro Guerrero
we bring them to lincoln with no dailey The no Dailey part is huge. If he could beat Pitt at home I think we will be ok at home. Quote Link to comment
skersfan
We played them in a mud soaked field. They were 8-3 at the end of regular season. They have a QB that is being Hypsmaned. They have recievers that are qualified to say the least They beat Boston College They beat Notre Dame They beat West Virginia Two rated teams. They steadily improved over the year, you can decide what we did. I am not saying we lose this game. Just give the respect that they deserve. Quote Link to comment
Amy
Didn't we play the same pitt quarterback last year? Quote Link to comment
huskerdavo
We played them in a mud soaked field. what is that crap? we didnt water down their field the night before. i understand we should respect them to a certain degree but still please do not forget they are Pitt. They won a crappy conference and if you dont think that the Big East is about as scary as the Sun Belt then I feel for ya man. I mean they added UCONN, run I am freakin' scared. I realize also we are not the dominate powerhouse but we beat them with Dailey and our sputtering offense. Have you taken a look at our depth chart on offense alone? I mean we have a core of 3 excellent running backs who alone could fly all over the field against a crappy D at Pitt. I wont mention the WRs and QBs cause I think that might blow your simple mind Quote Link to comment

BigRedJake
Didn't we play the same pitt quarterback last year? Indeed. Palko is still their QB. Quote Link to comment
skersfan
Your comments deserve no response Dave. Yes Amy it is the same QB. But he made huge strides during the year. Until we play a game we have no idea of what we have. Last year there were people on these boards calling Joe Hypesman material. We would win the conference and go to a BCS game. Drooling to play Oklahoma, not one ounce of respect for a lowly Texas Tech team, the only team in the Big 12 that has been to a bowl game every year of it's existance. Reality was, it did not happen. We will see how this year turns out. It could very easily be the same as last year. It could turn out that the kids will jell and we will have a very good team. But there is no reason to disrespect or to think other programs can not improve. That idea is what got us into this mess in the first place. I doubt BC is taking Wake Forest or Pittsburgh as gimme games. I hope I am wrong about these being tough games. I predicted a 5-6 year last year with the loss to Tech as being the main stumbling block and missed the final score by 10 points that we scored. My guess for this year is 8-3 or 7-4 and if we achieve those numbers I will be very happy. My guess by the time the season is over our strength of schedule will rise quite a bit.
