Dalglish To Ask Liverpool Owners For Spending Money

 

Kenny Dalglish is reportedly going to have a meeting with Liverpool's owners and ask them to provide funds to rebuild the squad amid hopes of salvaging the season. The Mirror reports that Dalglish will ask for funds during the meeting with the owners, as he hopes to bring in a midfielder to play alongside Steven Gerrard. It has also been reported that Dalglish would like to sign a striker to give Fernando Torres some competition.

Jorge Valdano: Real Madrid Is Looking For A Striker

 

Addressing the media after Thursday’s 3-1 win over Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey, Valdano admitted Los Blancos are currently searching to land a striker on a short term deal in the current transfer window.

 

He said: “We are exploring the market, because the uncertainty regarding Gonzalo Higuain has been resolved. We want to see if we can get a player for six months who can help us. There are many names being said, but I do not want to go into detail. But it is true that we are looking for a number nine. We are looking for a striker who can lend a hand for six months.”

Ribery Suffers Serious Injury

 

Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery is seeking further medical advice after sustaining a knee injury in yesterday’s 1-1 draw with Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

 

The French international was involved in a challenge with Josue after 18 minutes of the clash, and appeared to be in some pain after falling to the ground clutching his knee.

 

Ribery, who has been dogged by fitness problems for much of the season, will now visit a specialist to assess the full extent of the damage.

David Beckham To Leave LA Galaxy For Premier League

 

The Daily Mail claims the English midfielder is considering leaving the MLS and making a return to the English Premier League. Beckham's current contract with the Galaxy expires in November, and there have been suggestions that he could make a permanent transfer to play for Tottenham. The 35 year old is currently training with Tottenham until the beginning of the new MLS season.

Manchester United Eye Move For Sergio Busquets As Barcelona Contract Negotiations Break Down

 

The Spanish midfielder is thought to have been in negotiations with Barcelona over the past few months concerning a 2 year extension, but The Mirror is reporting that the two parties involved have been unable to come to an understanding concerning the player's wages. The Mirror claims Manchester United will swoop to snap up the 22 year old during the summer, with United scouts having already watched the midfielder in action. Busquets' current contract with Barca expires in 2013.

Sergio Aguero To Miss Copa del Rey Tie With Real Madrid Through Injury

 

The Argentine underwent an MRI scan on a leg injury which revealed a crack in the fibula in his left leg, and he will be required to sit out a minimum of two weeks to allow the injury to heal.

 

Aguero will undergo further assessment on the injury in order to give a more accurate view of his rehabilitation period, and will also miss the league matches against Mallorca on Monday night and against Sporting next weekend.
