It's Official: Angel di Maria To Real Madrid

 

The Benfica midfielder has been sold to Real Madrid for a reported fee of $25 million. A statement released on Real Madrid's official website says Angel di Maria "will sign a six-year contract with Real Madrid C.F." This is Jose Mourinho's first signing since taking over as head coach.

David Silva Transfers To Manchester City

 

A statement released by Manchester City released today says: "Manchester City have reached an agreement with Valencia over the transfer of David Silva."

 

"The player's advisers and officials from both clubs have finalised the details over a four-year contract, which will bring the 24-year-old to City of Manchester Stadium. He will complete his medical and officially become a City player once his involvement in the World Cup is over."

AC Milan Squash Ibrahimovic Rumor

 

AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani told Sky Sport Italia, "We simply do not have the economic conditions to complete the signing. He is just too expensive.

 

Barcelona can afford certain wages that we cannot deal with and, with these figures, it just isn't going to happen."

Fernando Torres Closer To Anfield Exit

 

According to Jose Antonio Martin, Torres' agent, Fernando could leave Liverpool for another club in the Premier League.

 

"It is very likely that Fernando Torres will stay in the Premier League, but I cannot say that it will be with Liverpool," said Martin, according to The Daily Mail.

 

"We are working on his future but right now you cannot guarantee that he will stay with the English club."

 

Torres has said he will not speak to new Liverpool coach Roy Hodgson until the World Cup is over.

Torres Suffers Tear In Left Thigh

 

Fernando Torres pulled up lame in the final moments of the World Cup final chasing after a ball. After undergoing an MRI scan in Madrid on Tuesday, the Spanish Football Federation has confirmed Torres suffered "a grade one muscle fibre rupture in the left thigh."

 

Head of Sports Science and Medicine Peter Brukner told Liverpool's official website: "He had an MRI scan yesterday [Tuesday] which confirmed a small tear. He should be able to resume training within two to three weeks and be able to play again within three to four weeks."

Steven Gerrard told the Liverpool Echo: "It is a great signing for us. I know Joe well through the England set-up and have seen first hand just how good a player he is...I wanted the chance to meet Roy Hodgson privately and having done so, I'm very impressed with his plans for the future."

English Premier League, Spanish La Liga Release Schedules

 

The English Premier League kicks off on Saturday, August the 14th with Manchester City at Tottenham on ESPN 2. Spain's first La Liga match will take place on Sunday, August the 29th. Barcelona will be at Racing Santander and Real Madrid will travel to Mallorca.

Manchester City Looking To Buy Landon Donovan

 

Roberto Mancini told Sky Sports he is trying to sign American midfielder Landon Donovan. "Donovan is a good player. Could be possible," Mancini said Wednesday ahead of his club's exhibition games against Sporting Lisbon and Thierry Henry's New York Red Bulls. "The market is open until the end of August. Could be." However, MLS has made it clear they have no intention of selling their biggest star.
