Liverpool Seek To Remove Restraining Order

A statement on Liverpool's official website reads: "Following the successful conclusion of High Court proceedings today, the boards of directors of Kop Football and Kop Holdings met tonight and resolved to complete the sale of Liverpool FC to New England Sports Ventures.

Regrettably, Thomas Hicks and George Gillett have tonight obtained a Temporary Restraining Order from a Texas district court against the independent directors, Royal Bank of Scotland PLC and NESV to prevent the transaction being completed.

The independent directors consider the restraining order to be unwarranted and damaging and will move as swiftly as possible to seek to have it removed. A further statement will be made in due course."

Kuyt Out For 1 Month With Ankle Injury

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt will be out for three to four weeks with an ankle injury he suffered playing for Holland against Sweden on Tuesday.

"The initial rumours coming out of Holland were that it was going to be a really long injury, maybe months," Hodgson told Liverpoolfc.tv. "But our Doctor and our sports science people are much more optimistic. They think it is more likely to be one month - or if we are lucky three weeks."

"He seriously twisted his ankle with ligament damage and we are going to miss him for some matches that's for sure."

High Court Strikes Down Temporary Injunction Issued In Texas

A High Court judge has ruled against Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett's attempt to block the sale of the club to New England Sports Ventures (NESV), paving the way for a deal to finally go through.

Mr. Justice Floyd announced that Hicks and Gillett have until 4pm GMT tomorrow to comply with the order. Liverpool and The Royal Bank of Scotland were back in the High Court this afternoon to attempt to block a temporary restraining order taken out by the American owners in Texas last night, which prevented the sale of the club to NESV.

In the High Court, Liverpool's American owners were strongly condemned for taking action in the US courts to try and block the sale and were accused of "outrageous" behavior after they thwarted High Court orders allowing the club to be sold.

George Gillett & Tom Hicks Lift Temporary Restraining Order On Sale

Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks have lifted the temporary injunction stopping the sale of the club by the Royal Bank of Scotland.

This development should pave the way for New England Sports Ventures to complete their $300 million deal before RBS' afternoon deadline to repay a $240m debt. It is understood that Hicks has electronically filed a 'motion to dissolve' the injunction.

However, reports have emerged that the action could see Hicks and Gillett push through a deal with RBS which would see hedge fund Mill Financial take control.

Mourinho Recalls Pedro Leon To Face Malaga Saturday

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has recalled midfielder Pedro Leon to his squad for the match versus Malaga on Saturday. Mourinho had excluded the ex-Getafe midfielder from the wins over Auxerre and Deportivo due to Leon failing to obey his instructions when he came on as a second-half substitute in the 0-0 draw versus Levante.

Also, Sergio Ramos will be unable to make the trip as he has not recovered in time from the ankle injury he picked up while playing for Spain against Scotland. Garay, Kaka and Gago continue to be long-term injury concerns.
