Fernando Torres To Juventus?

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus' search for a striker has found a new target: Liverpool's Fernando Torres.

The paper claims Torres is generating an increased interest from Juventus, who have also been linked with Wolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.

Torres might be encouraged to move during the winter transfer window given Liverpool's poor form in the Premier League.

Liverpool Owner Tom Hicks Vows To Fight NESV Takeover In Court

Liverpool owner Tom Hicks has vowed to fight the New England Sports Ventures takeover in court after he claimed the board had no permission to make the sale.

The proposed sale will go to the High Court next week after Hicks claimed commercial director Ian Ayre and managing director Christian Purslow had been removed before they struck the deal without his permission.

In their place, he tried to install son Mack and assistant Lori Kay McCutcheon to block the offer. But, chairman Martin Broughton insisted only he had the authority from the Royal Bank of Scotland (Liverpool's creditors) to approve changes.

Gago Out 1 Month After Spraining Knee In Training Session

Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago could be out for up to a month after spraining his knee during a training match.

The Argentine took part in a session as Real Madrid's first-team squad took on the Castilla side, with the likes of Pedro Leon, Esteban Granero and Juan Carlos all taking part.

Gago had to be withdrawn midway through the match after a collision with defender Daniel Carvajal, and although he walked away on his own from the pitch, the club’s medical services reported that he had suffered a concussion in addition to his knee injury.

So you all know, the stadiums here in Poland are coming along nicely. I can nearly see the national stadium from my work and it will easily be completed on time. They have renovated the Legia (professional) stadium here in Warsaw, so I'm sure it will suffice as a stadium if they don't finish one of the other 3. I've heard there are issues with Krakow but I don't think it will deter them from finishing. I'm optimistic the Euro Cup will be held in Poland/Ukraine in 2012 based on the progress.

Karim Benzema To Tottenham?

According to Goal.com, Tottenham have made Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema a target for the winter transfer window in January.

“Harry didn’t try to sign Benzema this summer because he thought he had no chance but if there is any chance of signing him in January the club will do everything it can,” a Spurs insider told Goal.com.

“He played with Van der Vaart at Real Madrid and maybe that could convince him that Tottenham is the best place for him to kick-start his career.”

Tottenham's four strikers have scored just 1 goal in 7 league games.

Benzema scored 9 goals in 32 appearances last season and has been restricted to mostly substitute roles this season under Mourinho.

Pedro Out 3 Weeks With Torn Left Hamstring

Barcelona striker Pedro Rodriguez will be out of action for 3 weeks after sustaining a torn left hamstring during the 1-1 draw versus Mallorca on Sunday evening.

Pedro appeared to injure himself while attempting to turn on the Camp Nou turf, and immediately signaled to the bench that he was unable to continue.

Medical examinations have confirmed there is a tear in his left hamstring muscle, and the recovery time is set at a minimum of 3 weeks in order to allow the injury to completely heal.

The estimated 3 week lay-off would mean Pedro will miss Spain's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Lithuania and Scotland, and, depending on how his recovery goes, Barca's league games against Valencia and Real Zaragoza as well as their Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen.

High Court Rules Against Hicks and Gillett

Today the High Court ruled against Liverpool owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks' attempt to block the $300 million sale of the club to New England Sports Ventures. The ruling declared illegal Hicks and Gillett's bid last week to remove commercial director Ian Ayre and managing director Christian Purslow and replace them with Mack Hicks and Lori Kay McCutcheon. The judge ordered a board meeting tonight at 20:00 during which the future of Liverpool will be decided.

Speaking to the court in his summing up, Justice Floyd said: "The current state of Liverpool is unsatisfactory. Owners have no right to veto the sale of the club. They [Hicks & Gillett] do have the right to be present at board meetings where the state of the club is discussed."
