In the Deed the Glory
I think this whole mess was an elaborate plot to get colorado to leave. All the remaining ADs will hold an evening press conference, hug, and laugh about it. TO-"remember when we got colorado to bolt?" Dodds-"haha, yeah. Classic" *high five* ROFLMAO!! krill
Big 12 is definitely going to survive. Here is what it could look like per orangebloods: North Division Kansas Kansas State Iowa State Missouri Northwest Missouri State Pittsburg State South Division Baylor West Texas A&M Abilene Christian Sam Houston State Stephen F. Austin Wayland Baptist That looks more like the leftover 12 than the big 12. If it came to that I don't know why they would even call it the big 12. Here's another thought on why why the southern big 12 teams won't bolt for a 16 team pac 10. The pac 10 is still only going to have 1 automatic BCS bid and the mountain west would presumably get the big 12's bid if it was reduced to the above teams. A 16 team conference may make for a great TV network but it would make BCS bowls and national championships much more difficult than the setup Texas and Oklahoma has now with the big 12. And again, there's been no word from Oklahoma on what they want to do other than they were very disappointed to see Nebraska leave the big 12. Quote Link to comment
broganreynik
And now with Okie St going to the Pac 10 and Texas A&M is heading the the SEC, looks like B12 is a done deal. Where's this coming from? Quote Link to comment

broganreynik
it may survive but it will be bumped down to non BCS status very quickly with the alignment listed above. North Division Kansas Kansas State Iowa State Missouri Northwest Missouri State Pittsburg State South Division Baylor West Texas A&M Abilene Christian Sam Houston State Stephen F. Austin Wayland Baptist The big east has survived on the backs of its tradition rich programs ( West Virginia, Pitt) and those who filled the void (Cincinnati, Rutgers, and south Florida). In the realignment there are no really storied programs there with national titles in football. I give this conference a 20-30% chance of survival and that is a a very positive assessment. Considering over half those schools are FCS I'm gonna say that's highly unlikely and you missed the sarcasm. Quote Link to comment

They're steeped in rumors at the moment. Nothing concrete yet. Just read that the Pac-10 will hold off their invites until Nebraska makes its announcement tomorrow. Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
it seems to me that the big XII could easily survive if just NU and CU left, it seems like they want to leave, but also blame NU. But they could add TCU/Houston, even utep or try for boise state or byu/utah. maybe even arkansas (swc roots, but unlikely). on a personal note, i would love to see Kansas play in the MVC. maybe Kansas, Kansas ST., and Iowa St. should just drop football and join the MVC or CUSA. Enhance
The Big 12 could survive, but it would be very tough to survive as a Division 1 conference. Here is the most talked about timeline for the future of college football: 1) Nebraska's done-and-waiting-official-release deal with the B10 would cause the Pac 10 to make a move on Colorado, and then eventually invite 5 other schools from the Big 12 (mainly the South schools). 2) With the new Pac 16, the Big 10 needs to make a move to make themselves into a larger conference. As such, they invite Missouri, two teams from the east, and Notre Dame. Notre Dame, not wanting to get left behind in the super-conference dust (which, if they don't join, they will be sorry) will join the B10 thus creating the Big 10 +6. 3) The SEC will make a move to grab teams (like Miami, FSU, VaTech, etc.) forming their own super-conference, and then the ACC, Big East, and a few other schools will probably create a fourth super-conference. In the end, the B12 is left with no key-note team. The second Nebraska leaves the B12 North, the North loses pretty much all of the respect and tradition it had. There would be no team in the nation that could replace the void Nebraska leaves. Similarly, no team could replace Texas. The Big 12 will either grab up the schools that couldn't get into the B10, SEC, or Pac 10, or they will drop all of the schools in the conference into DII. Quote Link to comment
