2010 NU football games on BTN

Recommended Posts

If some of our games are not picked up by FSN, ABC/ESPN or another telecast the University then has the right to show them on a PPV basis. Is there anything preventing the games that would otherwise be PPV from being shown on the BTN? Obviously I dont think the BTN would show our conference games there, but would they show our 3 preseason games that are assuredly going to be on PPV?

We're not joining the Big 10 until 2011. so how would that work?

Maybe it doesnt. I didnt know if it could be possible. The way I look at it we own the rights to the PPV games and basically have the right to park them wherever we want. So i didnt know if because we already have a contract in place with the Big10 if they would show our games that would otherwise be PPV. It would be extra advertising dollars for them.

If their already going to be showing other Nebraska programming what is preventing them from showing a game?

apparently i am wrong...but i thought we wouldn't have anything on the BTN until we moved there in 2011...but i guess if it gets our name out there and we don't have to watch PPV...anything is better than that...guess living in nebraska and seeing all the fans we have across the nation didn't really think we had to get our name out there

It would be sweet if the BTN picked up an OOC game this year but who among us could watch it anyway? TWC doesn't have the BTN to my knowledge.

Well anyone who has Directv or Dishnetwork would get it already. I am sure TWC will be getting it soon.

Are you certain? I had Dish until recently and don't remember having the BTN

I know for certain Directv shows it nationwide. I am in Des Moines so I am considered Big10 country and I get it here on Dishnetwork. If you dont get it in your basic package outside the footprint you should be able to get it with the sports pack.

Edit: this is from the BTN site

The Big Ten Network is available to up to 73 million homes nationwide. The Big Ten Network is available across North America on satellite providers such as DIRECTV, DISH Network and Shaw Direct (Canada), telco companies such as Verizon FiOS and AT&T U-Verse, and on cable in 22 of America's top 25 media markets.

The network has cable distribution agreements with Charter Communications, Comcast, Cox (Cleveland), Insight Communications, Mediacom, Time Warner Cable, RCN, Service Electric, Shaw (Canada) and more than 250 additional cable operators across North America. Customers of DIRECTV and DISH Network have access to the network regardless of where they live. Verizon FiOS and AT&T's U-Verse are rolling out the network across the country.

Cable subscribers inside the eight Big Ten states receive the network on either an expanded basic or digital basic level of service. Outside the eight states, excluding St. Louis, Omaha and Louisville, cable operators who carry the network make it available on a variety of packages. Select markets where the network is available are listed below. If you do not see your city listed here, contact your local system office to see if there are plans to add the network.
