What I don't understand is OU at 26? Seems pretty low most polls ahve them pushing top 10 Quote Link to comment
huzkerbob
That's about where I would put the Huskers, mainly because I want a hungry team that has to work for their high ranking. But BYU at #10 and Cinci at #7 after losing their #1 QB, #1 WR and their head coach? Those are both pretty big reaches if you ask me. Quote Link to comment
Ponderosa
That's about where I would put the Huskers, mainly because I want a hungry team that has to work for their high ranking. 10 would be better and I think they'd still be just as hungry but I can live with 16. But why is Alabama the consensus #1? They lost 9 guys on defense plus one more was declared ineligible. OSU seems like a better choice. Quote Link to comment

But BYU at #10 and Cinci at #7 after losing their #1 QB, #1 WR and their head coach? Those are both pretty big reaches if you ask me. Because the voters did very little research - "Cinci, yeah, I remember hearing about them last year. So, um #3. No too high. Lets try #19. No. How about #7. Yep, that sounds about right. OU? Didn't hear about them last year, I wonder why? Nah, I can't afford 20 seconds to do any interwebs google searchy thing. They must suck so not top 25 material. And another thing, since my sports writing revolves around the NFL, OU lost Bradford #1 to the Rams, they must be down. Same with Nebraska, they lost Suh to the Lions high in the draft. Alabama won the Super Bowl or what ever the colleges call that thing so they have to be good again" 1 Quote Link to comment
mnhusker
The poll seems like it is too strongly tied to last year and making sure some of the annual over achievers get some pre-season respect. OU out of the top 20 also seems like a bit a stretch. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
You must remember that this is the same organization that employs Dennis Dodd. That alone ruins any credibility they might have. Quote Link to comment
Whistlebritches
Cinci being so high was the first thing that jumped out at me as well. I don't think they're even being picked to win the Big East. Swap OU and Cincinnati (OU 7, Cinci 26) and I think that's a respectable list. Quote Link to comment
HuskerinHouston
this poll sucks, the have Penn state in the top 10. Why? Central Michigan and Navy in the top 25? Texas Tech to a lesser extent. Here is an idea, just come out with polls after at least week 1 if not 2 or 3 or 4. You know when the season starts! Just an idea. Plus Dennis Dodd Sucks. 1 Quote Link to comment
GMoose
This poll must be composed with some algorithm based VERY heavily on last year's results. No one in their right mind would have Cincy at 7 and BYU at 10. A lot of the teams on there were teams that were on last year's final polls. Quote Link to comment
