bbeerma2
"Nebraska didn't leave because it was mad at Texas. It didn't leave solely because of championship game or league office locations. But give Texas this, Nebraska: Had the Big 8 not reached out to Texas & Co. in the mid-1990s after the Southwest Conference disbanded, Nebraska almost surely would not be preparing to become the 12th member of the Big Ten. Whatever that means, it's still probably a fact. " Off of his Conference Overview section I'd say that is a pretty hard thing to argue Mr. Ubben... Quote Link to comment
Blackshirt316
If the Big 12 never formed.. we'd probably already have a Pac 16 and thus we'd probably already be in the Big 10... along with 4 other teams. Quote Link to comment
ZRod
Nevermind that Nebraska has wanted to be a part of the Big 10 going back a hundred years to when it was the Big 9... Quote Link to comment
shyndy
Well I think what he is saying is that the Big 8 would have just kept on keeping on. Personally I think the Big 8 would have looked elsewhere for expansion. Who knows maybe we'd be stealing Iowa from the Big 10 in this alternate universe. Quote Link to comment

" If you don't even believe it yourself, so badly that you're saying, "Whatever that means, it's probably still a fact," you're probably better off having not written that blurb, Mr. Ubben. Personally I think the Big 8 would have looked elsewhere for expansion. Who knows maybe we'd be stealing Iowa from the Big 10 in this alternate universe. Dave Ubben's Alternate Universe (DUAU for short) Big 8 actually changes it's name to the Big Eight (words look more academic than numbers) and adds the Big Ten (because Eight is more incorrect than Ten). In DUAU Big Eight, there are 19 teams, so there is difficulty splitting the divisions. To solve this problem, the loser of the DUAU Big Eight Championship Game gets claimed by the winners division and the winner sends a team of their choice over to the other division. Whatever that means, it's probably still a fact. Quote Link to comment
Husker_x
Two sentences of undisputed facts followed by an alternate universe theory where Texas gets the credit anyway. Okay then. Quote Link to comment
