HuskerExpat
As soon as Missouri beat Oklahoma I got to thinking about making all kinds of money betting on us this week against Missouri. Sure, Missouri is good, but also ripe for a let down. And I thought we were the superior team anyway. So I wandered over to my Costa Rican sportsbook to check the line this morning. We're favored by 7. For non-gamblers, that is a pretty sizeable point spread indicative of us being a heavy favorite... In other news, Iowa is favored by 5.5 over Michigan State. In other words, the polls and records don't mean anything in evaluating who is the better team... Quote Link to comment
Blaze1up
A lot of it has to do with where it's played. The home team dog is one of my favorite bets. Quote Link to comment

I think the experts say home field advantage is worth 2 or 3 points. So that still means they're considering us a 4 or 5 point favorite on a neutral field. Quote Link to comment
Joe_5700
I think Missouri should actually be favored by 5 or 6 points. We have not played very inspired football at home and Missouri is coming off of a very impressive win. If I were going to be laying money on this game, I'd take Misssouri and the points. HuskerExpat
Yeah, Mizzou is ripe for a let down. Not saying it is definitely going to happen, but this is just about the perfect storm when it comes to the possibility of a big let down.... Quote Link to comment
fro daddy
personally i dont see a let down or how it would happen. Needless to say I would be Pi**ed if there was one: #1-top #15 team on the road #2-this is the 5th in a row this game decides the north winner #3-two teams dont really like eachother #4-last year of the game for forseable future #5-lost to Ne last year #6-watched NE dance around on your field last year #7-recieving little to no respect nationally #8-every one is picking you to lose. Thats about 8 seconds for me to think of 8 quick reasons why three will be no let down. Quote Link to comment
junior4949
I could have easily thought of 8 reasons we wouldn't have had a letdown before the Texas game as well. Quote Link to comment

I could have made a list like that before the Texas game though, and yet... thats true also. couple of differences though, NE had a major issue before that game with putting the ball on the ground and the continued to do so against TX. And hands have been a question for your WR (given, mostly for Paul) but those things came to the front to cost you in that game. MU doesnt have faults like that. With that said though, as a Tiger fan I can tell you it would not be the first time they pee'd down their leg if it happens. Quote Link to comment
knapplc
Missouri being 0-15 on the road vs. top 25 opponents would probably fall under that category, no? Quote Link to comment
sd'sker
i think south carolina and texas could have thought of 100 reasons why they would not have a let down the week after the big game. Quote Link to comment
Nebula
Yeah, those situations are not mirror images of each other fro, I agree with you there. For what it's worth, I don't think Mizzou will have a letdown this Saturday. I feel like both teams are going to rage onto the field with all the sharpness of a diamond knife. This Midwestern battle seethes...true acrimony and vitriol have flowed back and forth, and really, that is what makes a true rival. I really believe this is going to be one for the ages. I like our chances. Your team scares me. It's going to be a great game. It's a shame it's all coming to an end after this. I will truly miss Missouri week. Quote Link to comment

Because thats were the vast majority of those losses come from. Quote Link to comment
