da skers
Notre Dame dude will get it. But I think David is better than him. Quote Link to comment
NUance
My guess is that Luke Kuechly wins the Butkis. But you never know with these awards. Quote Link to comment
Stickney
My guess is that Luke Kuechly wins the Butkis. But you never know with these awards. That. Nevertheless, good job Mr. David. Quote Link to comment
TheBreeze521
Good for Lavonte, and thank you Mr. David. I agree unfortunately he'll be overlooked because NU team defense is so poor. He stands out as the only guy on a defense with the ability and the desire to run down and tackle other top-level athletes. Quote Link to comment
PaulCrewe
My guess is that Luke Kuechly wins the Butkis. But you never know with these awards. This is the only other guy on that list that I would honestly even consider for the award. They both are the machine that succeeds in their respective defenses. Hightower splits votes with Upshaw and I believe Hightower has missed a game or two. He is not playing at the same level as others on this list, yet is on here due to his preseasonn hype. The three guys that should be in New York are Teo, Kuechly and David. Quote Link to comment
The Big Red Husker
I think David has earned the award, but there is stiff competition. The amazing part of the Butkus award is the guys who have won it, most have excelled at the next level, which is not always the case with some of these position awards. He needs a quality final game before the award imo, as many voters/fans etc. will be watching the game..... even though for all intents and purposes this game does not mean much in the college football landscape this season. The Big Red Husker
Also to think Travis Lewis was considering NU too...man that would have been a tandem indeed! Quote Link to comment
Eric the Red
One of the better LB's in the past decade or two. Mostly because he had to be. fast, tough, and can tackle well Quote Link to comment
ensanehusker
How can you argue with Kuechly's stats wow! http://espn.go.com/college-football/player/_/id/480673/luke-kuechly I of course pull for Lavonte, but Kuechly's stats are out of this world and not just for one season, but for every season since he was a freshman. wol-va-rine
I would have to say that Hightower from Bama wins this award, the dude is awesome! LaVonte is awesome too, but I don't see him beating out Hightower. he may not beat out Hightower because of SEC bias, but he's the best I've seen this year... Quote Link to comment
