Nebula
As some of you probably know by now, I am pretty into boxing. It started when I was a kid, and my dad had the legendary three round "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler vs Thomas "The Hitman" Hearns fight on VHS. (Among a treasure trove of other fights. The Frazier-Ali wars. Sugar Ray Leonard-Duran. ect...) So I thought I'd start a thread to try and weed out the other boxing enthusiasts out there. Our numbers seem to be dwindling... This isn't a MMA vs boxing thread. I'm not a huge fan of the UFC, but I respect their abilities and athletic prowess. I just find the sweet science of boxing to be more technical, more graceful in its violence if that even makes sense. Anyway, to start out, here is one of the greatest fights I've ever seen. The epic opening to a savage trilogy of fights, Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales. Enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wdf9WeqAU1E Quote Link to comment
The Dude
My mom and I used to watch boxing all the freakin' time when I was growing up. Over the last decade I've kinda went away from it. Mostly because I haven't had HBO since I moved out of my parents house. Quote Link to comment
Stumpy1
I want to see Mayweather hike up his skirt and face Paciou. Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
Who's watching the fight tomorrow? Quote Link to comment
Nebula
I just can't shell out for it at the moment...damn kids and their dental appointments. But I would LOVE to watch that fight. You can make a very real argument that Marquez took the first fight, in what ended up as a fairly controversial draw. There are plenty out there who think that Juan won that first fight outright. The second contest was another bruising affair, but this time Pac was rightly awarded the victory on the weight of two or three knockdowns (can't remember the exact number. It was not, however, your typical Pacquio manhandling.Marquez's style seems to match up very well with the controlled chaos that Pacquio brings. I for one would love to see Marquez win this fight, only because I believed Juan won that first clash. I'd like to see him shock some folks, (although people privy to the history between these two wouldn't be overly stunned just based on the tightly contested nature of their first two battles) and leave this trilogy at a 1-1-1 record. Tomorrow has the potential to be a VERY entertaining fight. I have to confess, though: during football season, I only have eyes for the gridiron. My sporting calendar has no flexibility during the autumn months. Here's Marquez-Pacquio I. *Widely regarded as the fight of the year in 2004. *Edit: Ring magazine had the third Morales - Barrera brawl as the fight of the year. So I guess it would have been more accurate to say widely regarded as ONE of the fights of the year in '04. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qTPHqlYd04 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRS2DlKeFSw&feature=related Quote Link to comment

WoodyHayes1951
I'm headed to a sports bar one way or another. Football for most of the day(If the Bucks lose then that changes with me crying for the entire afternoon) There is a place I know where there is no cover and another(closer) place with $10 cover. Nice...no cover or $10 is definitely workable. What's your take on this fight? Both of these guys have a lot of miles on them at this point... Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
It's hard to go against Pacquiao..... Marquez got beat bad by Mayweather when fighting at this weight. Don't expect too much to be different. See it going 12 rounds as well. Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
Hope its a good fight though. The last two Pay Per Views have been pathetic. Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
scratch that, Last three. Forgot when Mosley and Pacquiao were touching gloves at the end of every round. smh Quote Link to comment
Nebula
Yeah...the PPV slate has been, putting it mildly, underwhelming as of late. Hopefully this one turns that trend. Boxing needs some quality fights right now. Badly. Quote Link to comment
WoodyHayes1951
It's going directly against the UFC fight on free TV. Interesting to see how it does. Quote Link to comment
GSG
It's going directly against the UFC fight on free TV. Interesting to see how it does. Considering the UFC free fight is just one fight, I'm sure it will be fine. Most people that want to watch both will probably just record UFC and watch it later. Quote Link to comment
